Shows not started but the toys are already available in the market.

Now I'm convinced, Masked Rider Knight is really BATMAN!!
-
Yes, I think this may be true. I think I read from somewhere that the success in Kabuto's humor drove the producers to make a full scale comedy of Den-O. I think I will have to get back on you regarding Den-O once I've seen it. You could say that the latest modern rider that I have seen and liked is Kabuto. At the moment, I'm still chuckling from watching V3 on youtube. They keep calling Kazami "wolf" and Hongo "Woody".

Kamen Rider Decade broadcast episode discussion
durendal replied to a topic in Japanese Entertainment
I'm tempted to buy the Decade Driver Myself. I can actually go down now, walk 50 meters to the anime store and buy it. My only problem is that I don't have a suit to go with it. I like the what it speaks when you insert a certain cardass. I just don't know where I can acquire those additional cards. But I guess I would want to save up when the SIC figures comes out. Anyway, back on topic. If I remember correctly, all the showa riders coexists in the same world. As proof, they all appeared in episodes 41-47 of Black RX. So technically, Tsukasa shouldn't be traveling to another world. And yeah, 5 more episodes to close the show. And instead of saying "the plot thickens", I guess I should be saying "The plot thins" -
I've been watching V3 recently, and there are a lot of things that I notice that seems to be different. Like mentioned above, riders are on the side of Justice. This fact is strongly portrayed in the older series, while on newer riders, this notion seems to have taken a back seat. Also the urgency of the matter is somewhat relaxed on the current riders. The main point is that although modern riders lacked some of the finer points of the older riders, they have improved upon other aspects of the show. Like the action scenes and direction are much better. Long time Rider Director Nagaishi Takao is still active, being assistant director from Showa series to being the current main director. Also, although the "monster of the week" format is still being followed, each episode does not get repetitive, and still offer some advancement in plot. However, I have not seen this in Decade.

That's a very nice idea. But I'm somewhat reluctant to do that, since it will make the links on the KR navbar somewhat useless. For example in Kiva, on the page itself, links to the characters and riders were no longer present. But on the bottom of the page, the navbar still have links to the characters and riders. I guess you might call this a small nitpick.

Goodness, this is really long. And here we only have 1 main rider and 1 sub rider. As we go further, perhaps we should split up some parts to a separate page. Episodes are available in Youtube, although it's from HK subs, they call Kazami as "wolf" and Hongo as "Woody"? LOLZ. here's a sample:

I'm not sure about your reply, but just to be on a safe side, I did not mean any offense by using the term hot blood. I meant that you were passionate about many points that make the modern riders fail. But anyway. yes I do remember your posts about your cousin criticizing Kiva. Kiva didn't really made any impact on me, and I'm on the verge of losing my patience with decade. But hopefully with W, they can manage to redeem themselves. With a simpler design on the rider, they could concentrate more on story telling.

Whoa Tales, I can feel the hot bloodedness in your post. You really do have some serious issues with the modern Riders. It's true what you said about Kiva, obvious plot holes and inconsistencies does surround the show. But let's not use Kiva as a comparison as we all know how Toei failed in developing Kiva. But there are still some saving grace among the Heisei Riders, like Kabuto and Blade. *looks at topic* Okay, forget I mentioned that since we're discussing riders after Den-O. I have not seen Den-O yet, but with the numerous Den-O movies out, only two things will come to my mind. 1) Den-O is so popular that producers decide to create more movies to milk the franchise, or 2) the movie is a fail and they try to redeem the franchise to improve their sales. So I really can't comment on Den-O. With Kiva, as I mentioned, its a failed rider. With Decade, at least somehow they did something that would get new fans hooked. You have to admit, traveling to different rider worlds is a cool idea. But like I mentioned in the other thread, the story needs to develop. And with only a few episodes left, I beginning to wonder if there's any real plot at all in Decade.

This will form part of the PTW (Project Toku Wiki). While I was convinced by Ryuki to delay the completion of the Masked Rider Ryuki Wiki while watching it, I took it upon myself to introduce another Showa Rider. V3, which is deemed to be one of the most popular Masked Rider in history. I have never seen a single episode of this series, but I am familiar with V3 since I grew up having his stickers when I was a child. Which is why I chose to do this wiki, because I wanted to know more about my childhood hero. Feel free to mercilessly edit.

Okay then. I'll stop editing and watch it first. Maybe I should do one of the Showa riders. V3 seems to be a good series.

No worries, spoilers doesn't really bother me. Its effect on me is quite the opposite actually. When I find out something, the more I want to see it. Why don't I try something different here. Maybe I'll work from bottom up.

This will be the next installment of the PTW (Project Toku Wiki). I selected Ryuki since this will be the next series that I will be watching. Will update the page as I progress with watching the show. Feel free to edit mercilessly.

Sorry, I re-read your post, I misinterpretted what you said about giving Blade a "serious go" as giving a "serious go" on doing the Ryuki wiki. Nyahahaha. Ryuki it is then.

Speaking of Decade, I'm not really happy with the way things are going. I have to admit, Decade was one of the reason why I started watching the other Heisei Riders, (which I think was a successful tactic). But what I didn't like is how they keep sticking to the premise of visiting worlds and not actually giving emphasis on the main story. Up until episode 26, I still don't know what's been going on with Tsukasa besides from him traveling to world. I guess this is one part where they could still improve on.

I also seem to notice another big difference between the Showa Riders and Heisei Riders. The story in the Showa Riders were mostly driven by tragedy, while the Heisei Riders are more of a struggle driven story. Back then, it is extremely difficult to make CGI effects, that is why they have to compensate it by making the story really good. But nowadays, the show seems to target younger audiences, so having a complex story will shy away younger viewers.

Technically speaking Black and Black RX were aired during the Heisei era. But you know what I mean. Black is actually the first Rider that I have completely watched. I loved Black especially the ending song (long long ago 20th century), such a sad song. But I also love some of the Heisei Riders like Kabuto and Blade. Although my knowledge of the riders are quite limited, I have already encountered them during my childhood. My first encounter with a Rider was with V3. I had stickers of V3 collaborating with Spiderman when I was a kid. Also had the sticker of Rider 1, Rider 2, V3, X and Riderman hand in hand. I was always curious and wanted to watch the show they were in, but I didn't had the resources then. Suffice to say, although I grew up with the Showa Riders, I also happen to enjoy some of the Heisei Riders. Also, I think the most obvious difference in the Showa Riders and Heisei Riders is the involvement of Ishimori.

Nope, the only Riders I've seen are the ones that I've created a wiki for. I guess I could watch Ryuki next, seeing that, unintentionally, would be the next series on the pattern I'm watching. Saw Kiva, skipped Den-O, saw Kabuto, skipped Hibiki, saw Blade, then skipping 555 to see Ryuki? Didn't realize that I'm actually watching in reverse skip order. And since you've mentioned wanting to have a go at Ryuki, I would have to yield to you, skip Ryuki and watch 555 instead.

Ok, I'm done with Blade. Finished watching it as well as finished the wiki page. Didn't bother to separate the review of Larz since the review would look lonely if I made another page for it. I'll leave that to someone else. So, what series shall I watch next? Perhaps I should start on Kuuga?
