Last night's episode was chock full of ino on Mr. Bennet. One thing that I didn't get... WARNING SPOILERS AHEAD When Ted started going nuclear after being shot, wouldn't that have exposed Matt and Mr. Bennet with a lethal dose of radiation? I mean, I know we don't have an exact figure for Ted's radioactive output, but he was setting the whole house on fire.

The thing that bugs me most about the belief in a deity are the things that get carried out in their name. Suicide bombings, The Crusades, etc. I wonder how many suicide bombers there would be if they knew that there was no afterlife. My thought is that every life is all the more precious because you only have the one. Another thing (not to inflame anyone or knock on their beliefs) if God has infinite love and compassion, why all the suffering and divine wrath?

I always wondered if Anubis looks like he does because Ai-Talis was one of the only Creators who took Zaphod's prophecy seriously and that somehow influenced his appearence. It seems to me to be an awfully big coincidence since the W'Kar organism can look pretty much however it wants. I'm also wondering if the seventh reproduction will be comparable to the original W'Kar. Maybe they could be mass produced.

A demo of this game was just released and I have to say that I am definitely going to pick up this RTS. The sheer size of the maps pretty much dwarfs every other real time strategy out there. The downside is that the game needs a pretty decent PC to run. You can see them at the page on Wikipedia for Supreme Commander. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supreme_Co ... quirements The demo is free for download at fileplanet, but its a little over 1GB compressed.

I personally believe that there is no god, but I'm always willing to admit when I'm wrong when presented with strong evidence to the contrary. I do believe that if there is an extremely powerful being who created the universe, it would be so beyond comprehension of a normal human that no meaningful judgement of it could be made by humans. Like Vernor Vinge said, you can't write about the thoughts a being more intelligent than yourself since you would have to just as intelligent. Since presumably a being intelligent enough to create an entire universe would have a vast intelligence. Another thing that always bothered about referring to the Judeo/Christian God was in using the male pronouns like He and Him. I would think an omnipresent, omnipotent, and omniscient being would be more gender neutral.

Anyone see the new episode? It's free to view on the nbc website. Watching Ted experiment with his powers was kind of cool. The scenes between Hiro and Nathan Petrelli were pretty humorous.

I came across this article just the other day. http://www.technologyreview.com/Nanotech/17956/ This seems to be a great leap forward in the fight against cancer. Unlike chemo and radiation therapy, only the tumor is targetted, so the patient's immune system isn't severly hindered from the treatment.

Ultimate Regeneration?
thanosfan82586 replied to Corrupt's topic in Guyver Science / General Science Lab Forum
On one hand, every cell in your body contains the entire genetic code needed to make you. So I think its still you. If it doesn't really count as "you," then it won't really matter since the duplicate is so close that it would pass any personalized Turing test. If that is the case, then said duplicate would also worry that they are not the original which would lead to a lot of unnecessary grief or self-doubt. Either way, they would behave as the original would so in the end they might as well go on as the original. Something similar is discussed in the book The Singularity is Near by Ray Kurzweil, but in the context of an uploaded mind. Ray believes that a human is a pattern of information. Everything in your body is replaced eventually, including the molecules within your neurons, yet the pattern still persists. -
Can anyone recommend any really good science fiction novels they've read? I currently have: Dune Dune Messiah Children of Dune God Emperor of Dune A Fire Upon the Deep A Deepness in the Sky Singularity Sky Iron Sunrise Rainbows End Accelarando Vacuum Diagrams Ring Excession Childhood's End The Peace War Marooned in Realtime Prey I really recommend A Fire Upon the Deep and a Deepness in the Sky both by Vernor Vinge.

Simone said that her father had dreams about Peter coming to him and saying that he will save the world. Maybe Peter somehow copied the power of that boy in India that Mohinder met.

Has anyone ever watched the remake of Battlestar Galactica? I never miss an episode given the chance (damn 2nd shift job ). The show's production quality and acting are all top notch. The human model Cylons are pretty interesting (downloading your conciousness into a new body after death would be very useful ).

Only one atom thick at the tip. If only a knife could be made with an edge like. That would make a ginsu seem about as sharp as a jogging shoe. On a side note, this site http://www.kurzweilai.net posts links to stories like these all the time.

This game is honestly the best game I've played since Resident Evil 4 (okay so I'm somewhat of a Capcom fanboy ). If you've never heard of the game you play as a photojournalist trapped in a mall filled with zombies for 3 days. I even bought an XBox 360 just to get this game.

Well there was some woman in the theater with her little boy who couldn't have been more than seven or eight years old. Some people.

I just saw this movie today and I haven't laughed so hard at a movie in quite some time. I definately reccommend seeing it if your a fan of Clerks. One word of warning, it definately deserves its R rating.

I thoroughly enjoyed Advent Children. The fight between Cloud and Sephiroth was FREAKIN SWEET!!!! I laughed out loud when Loz's ringtone goes off after Tifa thinks she has defeated him in the church.

While looking for information about Will Wright's upcoming project, Spore, I stumbled across this http://www.fl-tw.com/Infinity/index.php . Looks rather interesting so I thought I'd share it with you all.

In case any of the Farscape fans who visit the forum forgot, the first half of the Farscape mini series is airing tonight at 9 pm on the Scifi channel.

The last new episode I saw was "The Most Horrible X-Mas Ever." After that, Nickelodeon just kept replaying the same few episodes. But I did miss a few so that may have been one of them.

Please tell me that "Tak the Hideous New Girl" and "Gir goes Crazy and Stuff" are included on that DVD. They are like my favorite episodes.

Grakkens, what do you think you know.
thanosfan82586 replied to Sully's topic in Warrior Guyver Fan-Fiction
The Grakkens in the past had posed a major threat to the Creators (well until the Enforcer Kavzars were created). Everything that they've sent to Earth is a miniscule amount of their total forces. As to what they are capable of, they are sort of an unknown variable in the story. They have a vested interest in destroying anything linked to the Creators, but they have made exceptions like the Guyvers mercenaries. -
Most annoying level/mission in a game?
thanosfan82586 replied to guyverfanatic's topic in Games Discussion
The boss fight on Xenogears against Opiomorph was pretty difficult. -
Wong Fei Hong vs the thieves- Legend of Drunken Master. Drunken Boxing has to be one of the most interesting styles of martial arts. Spike vs Vicious- Cowboy Bebop. Just about any of their fights were cool to watch.

For all of the Xbox owners who read the board, I seriously recommend Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay. It's a great FPS and they perfectly captured Riddick's eye-shine.
