you would think that with the OVA intro. Yet they need need physical ships, physical suits, all of this being of biological technology that fuses one way or another to it's user. It's safe to say they are physical beings, but probably limited in war potential. from what we gather, they needed muscle for war... a long war or preparing for one. They certainly had the patience, and were easily scared of their own works. We don't know if they were long lived, or generations, or multiple species, or a combination of all those aspects. But one thing is for certain, they needed soldiers, and didn't want to risk their lives or were simply unsuited for the task. After so many years, I really had hoped to learn a little more about them, but we don't need anymore branching plots. Also... why Sho or Agito haven't seen them is beyond me. Since both had after all, seen the recorded imagery of those periods.

It's not really a blast. Exactly how this ability works has never been clarified, but for it to operate over such a large area means it can't just be internally-produced super-cooled gas or something.
