fossilrumbler96 Posted May 15, 2016 Posted May 15, 2016 Back when I was in high school I remember asking everyone if they knew who Daredevil is, the answers I got where either, "I don't know who that is" or "He is stupid". Fast forward to Collage (2013) I was drawing Daredevil in art, everyone said nice Batman, I got so mad. Now there's this awesome Netflix show I am sure a lot of you have seen based on this character. Now when I walk into, for example K-mart, there are frigging Daredevil shirts with him and the avengers and shirts with just him by himself everywhere, everyone is talking about him at this place I study and it is so Aggravating that he's just now popular. I do not know why this aggravates me so but it does, Anyone else feel like that? Quote
Matt Bellamy Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 I know the feeling. Iron Man has always been my favorite Marvel character. And I am 35 now, so for a long bloody time. Now Robert Downey Jr is the only Iron Man that really matters and everyone only really knows him ( kind fo Marvels fault too I admit. The character does bounce around a lot because of many many many writers). Don't get me wrong, he is still the perfect choice for Tony Stark, and I wouldn't have it any other way... but the exclusivity of having to explain why he is my favorite, is just not there anymore. Guyver1 Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 I feel the same about Spider-man. While he is my and lots more favorite character, the ups and downs of the character have already been pretty heavy just on the comic (clone saga, one more day, superior version, etc). Throw in this is his 3rd iteration on film and it makes it worse. I guess we as fans of the source material should be happy that any of it is being made on the screen, and with MCU at the helm they are pretty solid versions. I personally love the new Spidey. Perfection in Civil War. I am actually excited about the next spidey movie instead of just being kind of lackluster in my mindset towards it. Daredevil is an awesome character! His was the first first appearance of an older character I had ever bought. Way back in 1996 when I was in high school. It was hard to collect on him because unless it was in a Spider-man toy line, it was not being made really. He ramped up in 1998 with the Knights stuff and now with the show I could not be happier. They are doing him justice. The same with Iron Man! Awesome character, was not too terribly popular until the movie happened. Had his first appearance too All in all, the MCU peeps seem to care about the source material so we can rest a bit easier than with the DC stuff. Other bandwagon jumpers will come and go. Let them. their money keeps it all going so the actual true fans can see it all grow and get better. Besides... is it not better for the sheep of this world to wear DD, Iron Man or Spidey shirts then to have to see all the Twilight or other such nonsense all over the place?! Me thinks so 1 Quote
LordSpleach Posted May 17, 2016 Posted May 17, 2016 God, I hated the Ben Affleck movie so much. While it did have the plot points in there, it just didn't have any soul. Quote
Guyver1 Posted May 17, 2016 Posted May 17, 2016 The director's cut of it was actually a little better than the theatrical release. Still not great, but made it somewhat better. Quote

I will say it could have been better than what it was......Elektra was far more worse in comparison. Quote

Same for me. Big Iron Man fan since the early 90's. The reason why I liked it was because my Dad regularly picked up comic books for me and my brother to read while we went on trips for us to read. He picked them up at flea markets and he picked up five Iron Man comic books. They were I believe issues 188 to 193. It was post alcoholic Tony Stark who built the original grey suit am out od spare parts where he had to fight Rhodes who was wearing the state of the art Classic version. I loved it so my Dad ended up finding more and more of them for me to read. At the time, Iron Man was at best a background favorite. He had only monthly single issues where as Spiderman and X Men had weekly issues. Volume 3 I loved until it seemed every few issues he had a new suit. But the original was great. It was because of Iron Man I liked Guyver. Quote
H222G981 Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 I thought the series was a massive improvement. I liked it so much I watched both seasons. Just wondering. When is season 3 going to air? Quote

And we still have The Punisher coming and likely a Jessica Jones season 2... Quote
