H222G981 Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 So, when you get paid at work, do you get really excited or are you mainly focusing on paying those really important bills? Rent? Utilities? Car payment? College loans? Is it work hard play hard for you? I often know when I get paid that a majority of it is going out to the general necessities and some fun here and there. Quote
Matt Bellamy Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 When I was living paycheck to paycheck, there was a bit of excitement... Since I was ordering a lot of toys/figures back in the day. Since I have stopped that and started saving... The excitement from getting paid is no longer there... But has been replaced with a sense of security that, if I find something I want, I know I already have the money to buy it. Quote
durendal Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 I was very excited for my very first paycheck. And little by little, reality crawled in. Normally I prioritize all the basic necessities before I spend for myself. And spending for family is part of the necessities, so I usually end up with nothing. But of course savings is a big chunk of the basic necessities, this allows me to buy whatever I want whenever I want it. I do exercise prudence and I make sure that I always have at least 6 months worth in emergency funds. Gone are the days that I spend lot's of money for comics and toys. Quote
Guyver1 Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 I like to call payday national disbursement day. I get paid to pay others. Such is the adult existence. While I do not have a boat load of free money to spend on things I think are cool, I am happy and fortunate enough to be able live well and take care of my family. Although it would be cool to be able to afford more nerd stuff... LOL! The struggle is REAL!! 1 Quote
