H222G981 Posted May 22, 2015 Posted May 22, 2015 So, I heard Konami canceled Silent Hill a while back and not many people have taken it very well. There also have been other issues with them apparently. Even IGN reported some issues just a few days ago. and this... Quote
durendal Posted May 23, 2015 Posted May 23, 2015 Oh, this drama again? When would this issue with Kojima ever end? It seems like Konami is flip-flopping with their decision. I've read that they are going to concentrate on making games for mobile, but then again, they promised they will release MGSV. Then Kojima's name keep popping in and out of all MGS related materials. So there definitely seems to be internal strife within the company. Quote
*PrimalNemesis Posted May 23, 2015 Posted May 23, 2015 if this keeps up we can kiss MGSV goodbye as well. -_- Quote
Matt Bellamy Posted May 24, 2015 Posted May 24, 2015 The new Metal Gear Solid WILL be released. This much has been confirmed. Whether or not Kojima's name will be on it, is another issue. But it will most likely be the last "true" Metal Gear game Konami ever does. They have confirmed now that they are going to focus on mobile gaming, and if the change in laws happen, gambling machines. The whole feud with Kojima is just part of this shift... Which is probably for the best really. ANY other studio, except probably Capcom, would no doubt LOVE to throw money at Kojima and let him do basically what he wants. I would LOVE to think that this was a big conspiracy between Kojima and Konami to hype him as a creator before they change their focus... Put his name in the papers as a victim to make his value to any other company increase... But considering how they handled Igarashi as well... I doubt that is the case. Thankfully Igarashi seems to be doing just fine with his kickstarter for a new "Igavania" game. Though really, from a business standpoint, Konami is doing the smartest money making thing they can. Mobile games is where the money is. And if the Japanese laws for Gambling machines gets changed, Konami will be there, ready and rooting to get into it ( they have been big in the lobbying for the change in law). "AAA" games take a lot of money to make, and sometimes do not make much overall profit. And Konami is looking at profit only. They don't care about gamers. They care about MONEY. So anyone who says "They are not good at business" is only saying it out of spite because they assume the game THEY want, will make the company tons of money, because THEY are a fan. Are there other fans? Sure. But obviously the number Konami has, is not enough. And this is where the "Art vs Business" fight happens. And "Art" loses to "Business" every time when a big company is involved. Quote
