lost unit Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 So we have all had our new guyver figma's and had chance to try them out. Whats your verdict , do you prefer the old figure or new one. Do you like the muddy colors of the new figure ? Do you think the movable joints are stronger? Overall quality ? Who know in years to come will they be rare and pricey which figure will hold the most value. Just a few of many questions to start this thread. Quote
Guyver1 Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 Good topic. I prefer the old one mainly due to size and it being a bit more sturdy. I am super glad that Figma put out this figure though. I need to buy another one so I can keep it on display in the box. I must say I like the price of the Figma figure... at least for right now -Guyver1 Quote
*guyverfan Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 well, atleast the shoulders won't pop off of the new one when posing him as the old one did. although the figma articulation is phenomenal, you were still able to get the original figure in pretty much all the classic poses aswell. they both have great detail, although i prefer the old clear/yellow megasmasher compared to the new silver. i like the ball joint and peg connections of the new figma, easily replaced if broken i think. but that peg stand that press's in his back gave me the sh1ts. really don't want to drill the hole in his back any deeper. i think the value in price will easily match the bfc's in the near future, but there is no way the bfc's will lose value because of the new figma release as some have hinted/speculate. it'll be like someone saying that a '61 250gt ferrari has lost its value due to the 2014 360spyder! i too prefer the size of the bfc. the figma does look more fragile, but only due to its small size i think. have to admit, i really do like the new figma. and getting a free di stage with a $35 new guyver, i can't really complain! my message to maxfactory would have to be, more please from this great series. preferably of characters never released before. 1 Quote
*guyversudo Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 BFC max just because of the size but if I could I would put them together for one kickass figure. Im going to play with some mods for my max figure. Maybe copy a way to keep his shoulders on. Over all I just want more guyver Figures. My dream would be a Max bfc Guyver 2 female. 1 Quote
Amika Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 size wise bfc of course... but overall sense, figma has solved most of the problem that bfc has, like the shoulder kept on popping out and the horrible peg for both the hands and frequency sword.. my guess is they may have more guyver figures coming out in 2015 since it's guyver's 30th anniversary!!! goash... has it been that long? and still the stories goes on forever and ever... without the end in any sight at all!!! 1 Quote
odin Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 I got mine today, can't compare it with the old one since I never had one but the articulation is awesome, great to use for action poses if you draw. accessoriewise I wish they could have squeezed in an extra head like the old one had and perhaps an effects part, the pressure cannon preferably but for the price I guess it is acceptable, hopefully the will release other Guyvers, crossing my fingers for Guyver 3, that would be pretty sweet. 1 Quote
Cannibal Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 Although I don't have any figures (sadface) I think that the scale of a new figure is a good thing if you compare it to the old Gigantic figure: In the manga Guyver 1 is very small compared to Gigantic. 1 Quote
Matt Bellamy Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 Although I don't have any figures (sadface) I think that the scale of a new figure is a good thing if you compare it to the old Gigantic figure: In the manga Guyver 1 is very small compared to Gigantic. It is very close to being in perfect scale with the old Guyver Gigantic... That's pretty sweet. I'd have to say, as an action figure, I prefer the Figma, only because of the advances Max Factory have made in the overall figure quality because of the Figma toyline. That being said, for accuracy, the old MF figure definitely looks better, and is a bigger figure... but is definitely more fragile feeling. It's a mixed bag for both really. IF I have to choose, I'd probably pick the older figure, simply because the Figma is a smaller, and reworked version of it... Which while is a better figure overall... Took too many liberties and just isn't as impressive as the old one as a single figure. Quote
*Jess♥ Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 i'm surprised nobody mentioned the neck tubes. those are amazing! I love that part. i also think this is easy to pose how you want and it's not likely to break. I had the old guyver 2 and the knee broke quite easily. even the small size is better for posing and display, the stand can actually hold this thing up in mid air. Quote
hjohjosan Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 Overall, I like the old one better, especially in the look department. The facial sculpt, proportion, and the mega smasher win it for me. But the figma one is definitely better playing/posing it. Quote
