How could the OVA series have continued?

Hello J-L,

 

I was wondering, had the 80s/90s series continued after 12 OVA, how would they have continued the story? The OVA series took some liberties with the original plot. I don't know if this is because the OVAs had overlapped the manga and so they had to invent their own narrative or what.

        

As you all know, the remaining Hyper Zoanoid T5 members play a prominent part in Aptom's story, as well as the wider arc of the Guyver Gigantic.

I always thought it a little curious how the Hyper Zoanoid T5 made a cameo in second intro to the OVAs, considering they were all dead at this point. We even see a clip of Barcus bringing to them to life. Was this just fanservice or perhaps a hint that they were going to be brought back into the fold, before the OVAs were scrapped that is? But that just raises even more questions than answers and I'm not sure how that could've worked. 

 

Answers on a postcard please. Or here, either way's good.

I don't remember the team 5 members being in the second act, or even its into. See... now you made me wanna go back and watch the ova again. You happy now!?

Any who, as for the changes, much as i can remember only difference is the death of team 5. So aptom would be a little weaker than he was in the manga. At least until he finds some poor other hypers to prey on.

But other than that i can't recall any other plot changes.

I also noticed the HZT5 in the intro being shown by Balcus. I always thought they would have been resurrected somehow (or recreated), and that Alky would have popped up soon after Guyot.

They're not in the second act itself, only the opening credits. Sorry for any confusion.

And what's wrong with rewatching the OVAs*?

Would it have been possible for Barcus to clone Team Five? Other Hyper Zoanoids are mass-produced, yes? The only downside to having the 'clone' twist is that it would be dramatically redundant and only serve as plot convenience.

I'm fairly sure the 13th OVA would've been Murakami explaining the Zoalords and then the battle with Guyot (who returns to the fold at the end of OVA 12). Of course, the sequence of events after that would be changed, since we'd already had events in Takashiro village in OVA 10. This probably would've worked in their favour as they could skip some segments and get to the action at Relic's Point a lot quicker.

Late to the party here, but yes I also remember being very disappointed at seeing Team 5 in the Opening of Act 2 and not seeing them themselves. When I later read the manga/watched the TV series, I also just assumed that was a way for the creators to sort of save themselves by suggesting they could be brought back if a third act was ever made. Of course, Guyot also suggests this heavily.

Now that I really think about it, they set themselves up quite well. If Episode 13 is Guyot's attack on the gang, Episode 14 could have potentially been the re-introduction of Team 5 and Aptom's attack on them. Or they could even have been introduced at the end of Episode 13, much like they were at the end of Episode 3. That fits nicely as a throwback actually!

Guyver III could probably say he found Sho and Mizuki in the woods through all that telepathy malarky the Guyvers seemed to have in the OVA, with no need for the whole Takeshiro thing to happen again

What I really liked about the OVA was that each episode had a contained section of the plot and covered its own specific battle/moment of the story. So we would've been in store for a very nice OVA.

Agreed. Episode 13/14, Guyot's attack and Team 5 resurrection, with Aptom absorbing them.

Episode 15/16 could have been the gang getting into Relic's Point and what have you.

 

I really want to watch the OVA now, but the DVD won't work on my PS3. Damn regions

 

I still listen to the soundtrack to this day. A masterpiece.

It's a great soundtrack, I have 4 of the composers work on CD's. The guy who did the intro and Credit music for the OVA also composed the Hades Project Zeorymer OVA OST. 

Back on topic, I agree with you both,though I wouldn't be surprised if Aptom during his infiltration of Chronos Mount HQ came across a lab and found Balcasus research lab, and thus the Team Five Genetic records. Possibly even their replacements in development tubes. 

One thing is utterly Sure, all the fights would of been uber brutal!

Murakami would've been torn asunder more cruelly than the anime. Muzuki would somehow become even more annoying (she's great in the anime though) and they'd probably make more cameo's of the Balkus Female Assistant. 

Another thing to consider was that the Manga wasn't even progressing that far at the time... just barely faster than now. It would of had a lot of filler to compensate, maybe a early ending to the series. Iwouldn't be surprised that if the Hyper Zoanoid Team 5 could not be brought back, they may very well of pulled Female Guyver as their substitute or those Hyper's that were in the manga and Graphic novels that got skipped over. Heck they could even did the Sho Clone segment.
