I'm almost done with Season 2 and stopped at episode 7.  What birth would that be?  You mean the shadow assassin?  I find that oddly disturbing.  Also, reading the book side by side, I see that there are a lot more differences compared to the first season, but nothing major.  Greyjoys sister is supposed to be named Asha not Yara, but I guess they changed it to avoid confusion with Osha.  Theon's skin must have crawled when he found out about who Yara really is.  Haha, serves him right.  I'm still catching up with the book so I really can't say how much they changed.

friend gave me this. heard about it.

one of those things.. people masturbate over it and it just really puts me off.

but since it was recommended by a friend whom I trust, I am willing to give it a chance.

so I'll polish off the star trek season I'm currently watching and perhaps watch this first season of this.

yep, the birth of the shadow assassin, it freaked me and alot of other people out aswell, not to mention davos who was in the caves with her.

notice how it looks similar to stannis, anyway we only see it in accouple episodes.

ryuki, it really is quite good and well worth watching atleast the first few episodes to determine if you like it or not.

Taking this literally, Uh..... EWW?  What kind of sick person would do that?  I mean, come on, porn is so easily accessible nowadays and they have to settle with that?  Besides, you don't really get to see them get it on, just some partial nudity and moaning sounds.  And mind you, not all actors are as pleasing when they take their clothes off.  One had to remark that she close her mouth.  Although Lena Headey was hotter when she was getting in on in 300.....

The look on everyone's faces when Danaerys claimed the unsullied.  Priceless.

Reading along with the book, seems like they made a lot of changes.  Some of them do make sense.  I guess only season one stayed very accurate with book one.  Although there are changes, the general direction of the story stayed the same, and doesn't make plot holes.

i liked the way the interpreter was cleaning up the sexist remarks her king was saying to khaleesi and the look on his face when he realised she understood and could speak his language afterwoods was alaugh.

should be finished by now? so.......what do you think....... :bringit: .what do you think?

  • Author

Yup, finished it last month and it left a big cliffhanger.  I'm slowly moving along on the third book and I see a lot more differences, though only minor.  For one, in the book, Jorah Mormont did not recognize Baristan Selmy nor did he reveal his true identity to Daenarys.  This leads me to question how they would fit in what would happen later when Daenarys gets betrayed again.

I won't read earlier parts of this thread in case of spoilers.

I watched the first episode of this HBO series yesterday.

first thing I will say is SEX. HBO certainly like to make their shows sexy. well I certainly appreciate a bit of nakedness, but sometimes it is a bit too distracting. but aside from that, I am finding it to be very fine quality.

from the initial scene, I was struck by the beauty of the cinematography. the way the shots were set up were so beautiful it had me mesmerised. The zombie men were pretty creepy and the whole premise was more interesting than I had been led to believe. The relationships between the characters is very interesting too.

damn, I wish they cut out the sexy parts though.. each time i see that dwarf character now I'm gonna be thinking "nom nom nom", it's so annoying!

it is very gory too. people being killed and lots of bloody and nasty bits. it's not quite so brutal as berserk but it's getting there. I just hope they don't keep pushing on that theme. it's the reason I never watched braveheart and never will. I can't stand to see too much suffering.

The gory parts are just coincidental.  You get glued to the story because of the political situations and how each player handles them.  When I first watched Game of Thrones, I was with Team Ned and I was rooting for the Starks.  Now?  I'm not quite so sure who's the good guy.  Even though allegiances switch, you don't exactly get the typical "team up" scenario.  Do note that this is an era where they value honor over life.  So it's pretty clever how each character treats each other.

Has anyone actually read the source material? It's pretty graphic and if you think the series is complicated, they are simplifying a bit, though I understand why.

The whole point though is that there is no traditional good guy. The only person who could have carried the good guy off was Ned Stark and we all know what happened to him. It was giong to happen to him the instant he accepted Robert's proposal. It's meant to be a more realistic take on medieval fantasy. Lord of the Rings is great, it really is, but it's clean compared to GOT. LotR characters are pretty idealised while GOT has characters that are driven by their own desires - and all of this has probably been pointed out slightly earlier in the thread than where I started reading - sorry.

I don't like some characters, then I like them and all that. obviously there are some that are just bad, but I think that's a pretty good thing, it means they were designed well. Joffrey for example... he doesn't have many redeeming features but if you think about how he was raised, he doesn't have much reason to. One thing I do think will be pretty lame though is that if Dany 'wins' in the end... depending on how you define winning. It's just too obvious and too predictable but we shall see. Two more books I think to go and the White Walkers ... oh yeah! :D

I am so looking forward to the end of fourth season. It won't end with a battle, like Blackwater Bay but in many ways it's ending (or what I presume will be the ending from reading the books (though I'm not much passed that point) will be awesome!

I'm reading the source material.  Already finishing up A Storm of Swords.  As I pointed out in previous posts, there are a lot of differences between the series and the books.  I hated Joffrey and I still hate him.  Jaime, I used to hate him, but after what happened to him, I'm somewhat rooting for him.  Tyrion, now that's one character you can be surprised with.  Despite his moral standing and blunt tactlessness, he is an upstanding guy.  I'm actually rooting for him.

A Lannister always pays his debts.  I've been hearing and reading a lot about a teaser trailer for season 4 but all I get is a 4 second video of who knows what.  Anybody has any news of this?  Although I'm already far off in book 4, it's still nicer to watch it than read about it.  Sometimes I prefer to use my eyes rather than my imagination.

So, how did everyone find the first episode of season 4?  We just had the first episode aired last night in our territory, so those complaining that we get the movies early on, this is the trade-off we had to endure as HBO airs a week late in our territory.

im glad its back on.
excited to see the first episode of the fourth season atlast and was as expected. the first few episodes will just clear up afew unaswered questions left from the previous season and the real meaty stuff won't happen 'till half way through.
i'm just about to watch the second episode right now actually.

i've got a feeling king joffrey gets killed this season. and i'm thinking maybe by jamie!
i know you bloody know durendal, stop taunting me about it, hahahaha

Nyahahaha! The mystery doesn't end there my friend.  I'm sure you'll be asking a lot more questions.  Don't worry, I'll keep my trap shut.  Although I am looking forward to more Tyrion Lannister and his witty remarks.  And it seems that they changed the actor for Daario Naharis.

OHMAN, what a second episode! didn't think this would happen so quickly in the season.

agather christy, where are you? or are we going to need scooby and the team?

Makes you wanna think twice about weddings nowadays doesn't it?

But has anybody stopped to think about who actually killed John Arryn?  That one gesture that started everything?  I don't think it was ever truly revealed in the TV series since we never really saw anybody confessing about the act, nor anybody claiming the deed.  All we had was accusations and conjectures.

actually, i think alot of people are asking who killed jon.

but i think this is the way g.r.r. likes to keep his audience in suspense, and on edge, theorising while waiting for an answer.

or perhaps, its so obvious that there could of been three people likely to of piosoned him that g.r.r. has just left it at that, forever a mystery of whom ever done it?

i mean we all know that he discovered that joffrey was not robert's son, but the bastard of two siblings. both jaime and cersei new of his investigation and findings, so they're the two main suspects.

the other suspect could be their father tywin, although he was off fighting or in some quest earlier on doesn't mean his spies in the capital weren't reporting to him the going ons' and he could of ordered an assasin to poison jon. as to keep the family secrets secret.

while tyrion is definitly out of the picture for this, as i'm pretty sure he hadn't left the whore house until early second season :-D

but, one other theory i've been thinking about is it could of been robert himself that killed or gave the order to pioson his own hand, jon. as we saw at the beginning, robert was always drunk with an attitude and was not adhering to any of his personal councils advises. my thoughts are that perhaps jon went to robert with his findings, which enraged robert that his wife, queen cersei, could ever cheat on him, especially with her own brother!

this would explain why there wasn't really any type of official investigation into his death.
