LordSpleach Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 Surprisingly, this is the first design I actually like right off the bat after Decade(after the series I mean). While the fruit motif is silly, I like how it pops out as opposed to Fourze, which had stupid looking suits. I just wait till it comes out to judge the story. So far the only rider series I can't finish is Kiva cause I hate Wataru. He is actually physically strong, but is way to spineless. Ryotaro is much more of a man than he is and he can barely defend himself in a fight. Quote

BLASPHEMY!!! just kidding, you should give him a chance, he really turns out spineless at first but halfway in the series or I think earlier he starts to grow up and becomes a badass at the end which is something that Ryotaro did not even do. but anyways oddly for me I don't watch Kiva to watch Kiva, you watch it to see the awesomeness that is Otoya. XD a bit off topic there but anyways, I am glad that some people are liking this design at least, it is very appealing to me as well regardless of the fruit theme. Edited July 31, 2013 by odin Quote

Otoya is awesome but I just couldn't stomach Wataru. Also the fact the hero is part of a dance crew makes me think of Eddy Gordo, then again I have been playing a lot of Tekken Tag Tournament 2. Toku Warrior Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 I don't really like what I've heard so far at all about this series. This series is just too....Metal Hero-y looking to be Kamen Rider. Hell, it looks like Kamen Rider trying to mimic Ryuukendou and Rescue Heroes / Fire with the designs somewhat. Well, for what it's worth.... Fan Review of the Current Info Japan News Video Quote
odin Posted October 6, 2013 Author Posted October 6, 2013 (edited) alright, it is Gaim has finally aired and from what I saw and understood from the raw episode I could say that it has caught my interest, Gaim reminds me a lot of Kuuga, the rivalry with the other gangs and the way Gaim gets his powers reminds me of Ryuki a bit and the opening for some reason reminds me of Kabuto. anyways, great first episode, It is also a nice touch as how completely new they really make Gaim look by making him learn what he can do as he fights the monster, great first impression. here is the opening theme btw: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5azd3IqSnPY Edited October 6, 2013 by odin Quote
*PrimalNemesis Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 And here is the first episode subbed! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LRGtbdQgYhc Quote
odin Posted October 20, 2013 Author Posted October 20, 2013 Man, I must say that I am getting invested in this new rider series, second episode picks up on the first one and Gaim is still trying to find his purpose for using the belt as well as a funny scene where he starts brainstorming for his henshin pose. The concept may seem weird but so far the series is starting to look promising with ryuki/ kabuto style rivalries and a good balance of Seriousness and Comedy, perhaps this series will return Kamen Rider back to it's roots? only time will tell but I am definitely going to continue watching this series. LordSpleach Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 After watching the third episode, Cid the Lock Seed dealer reminds me of Museum from Kamen Rider Double. He's a weapons dealer, but he doesn't have to do Black Market deals like Gaia Memory dealers. I wonder where the series will go. Quote
odin Posted November 3, 2013 Author Posted November 3, 2013 (edited) Well this is shaping up to be an awesome series so far, apparently the theme here is freedom, fate and destiny from what I have seen in the Opening and every time a new rider appears, it really gives off a more lighthearted Ryuki feel, the main rider has flaws which is rare to see so early in a rider series but a breath of fresh air. So far Ryugen and Zangetsu are the ones that have caught my interest, even tho Baron's design is starting to grow on me his personality is very stereotypical early heisei where he is looking for power above all else. Also aside from the main 4 riders there are going to be 3 more so far that will appear as well, here is an image of their designs, from left to right they are Kamen Rider's Bravo, Gridon and Kurokage, based on their designs I Imagine that they won't last long but it is nice to see more riders than the traditional 2, it has been a while EDIT: also to clarify something addressed on a way early post the rider designs are not all based on samurai warriors, only Gaim seems to fit that style while the others are based on warriors from other countries, Baron being a Knight, Ryugen a Chinese Warrior and I am not really sure where Zangetsu's design comes from, I will check it out later.</p> Edited November 3, 2013 by odin Quote
durendal Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 Seriously? A big giant fruit attaches to their head and that's their transformation? You have got to be kidding me. Quote
Toku Warrior Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 I still haven't bothered watching it yet. It just seems way to silly. Fourze was silly and I stopped watching most of that series. I couldn't stand much of Wizard though his battles with Phoenix were flipping awesome!. But those 2 series kinda killed much of my Rider love and Gaim (Gaimu) just isn't helping re-create that love at all at this point. And that's just from images and YT vids. Quote
odin Posted November 10, 2013 Author Posted November 10, 2013 Trust me when I say this that this series is not over the top as Fourze (which i loved) nor Stale as Wizard, so far it has shown a good balance between action and comedy and most importantly an interesting story with interesting characters, it is not perfect since there are some characters that a bit predictable but most of them are 3 dimensional oozing with personality, sure the theme of the riders looks a little silly but you can't judge a book by it's cover sometimes, try out the first few episodes and see if it is to your liking, for me in my opinion it has given me an interest in watching Ryuki just to make a comparison since they are very similar in some aspects. Toku Warrior Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 I just want a series that's dark and compelling like Blade, Kuuga and Agito. But I usually prefer the earlier Heisei Riders compared to anything Post-Blade, despite the differences in sfx development. I'll wait until 5 episodes have been released and subbed and then I'll watch those. If I still can't stand it, then I'll be giving Kamen Rider up for the rest of the year and wait for next year. I'm not gonna force myself to watch Rider this year like I did with Wizard last year. 1 Quote
odin Posted December 22, 2013 Author Posted December 22, 2013 Well I frankly love the series so far, the development of this series has been escalating quite a bit, reminding me of early heisei series more and more while keeping the upbeat attitude that the megamax era riders ( starting from double to Gaim) have had, there is the staple organization conspiracy so I am expecting a Riot Trooper Clone in this season soon and judging by the intro it will be either Kurogage or Gridon. This also reminds me a bit of Gobusters with them explaining how stuff works little by little, this is definitely has become a good rider series so far if you can overlook the designs which I seriously don't mind, it could be worse. 1 Quote
LordSpleach Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 Personally IMO, it has the best designs for the Neo-Heisei riders and it's entertaining to boot. I know Kurokage has been confirmed as a mass produced rider and I'm sure Gridon will be soon. http://news.tokunation.com/2013/12/20/multiple-kurokages-kamen-rider-gaim-13321 2 Quote
odin Posted January 7, 2014 Author Posted January 7, 2014 Really loving this series more and more, this weeks episode showed just how awesome Gaim can fight when being serious as well as showing the different viewpoints Ryugen and Gaim have regarding the current events which I won't spoil, got to see some development from Baron which is nice and a new type of armored rider in which more will come in the coming episodes, my expectations are rising with this series, I have not been this exited since Ozu, I just hope they don't screw this up midway this has the potential of being one of the best heisei rider series, btw...Zangetsu is very OP at the moment. 1 Quote
odin Posted January 19, 2014 Author Posted January 19, 2014 I can't stop saying this but I really like the writing so far in this series, for having such bright and colorful design the story has been surprisingly dark, making Yggdrasil an actual threatening corporation, have not seen a corporation like this since 555's Smart Brain, I'm also loving the amount of development Kouta (Gaim) is having to differentiate him from other riders, his obstacles keep getting harder to overcome specially with what happens with this weeks episode, won't spoil anything but let's just say that from the looks of it in this series the hero won't always win when it matters most. 1 Quote
LordSpleach Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 Yggdrasil to Smart Brain is a good comparison. It seems like it already, but I hope DJ Sagara has more of a role/point than Smart Lady ever did. 1 Quote
*Jess♥ Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 yes, I have been watching this now. I got to episode 10. you are right, this is some quality tokusatsu! I'm glad you had recommended it! So far I see a lot of influence from earlier riders, especially kamen rider ryuki. I'm also really happy to see many secondary and tertiary characters who are fully fleshed out and have had some nice character development. 2 Quote
odin Posted March 4, 2014 Author Posted March 4, 2014 20 episodes in and the "true identity" of the Helheim forest has been revealed, lest just say it is just like zangetsu says it is, an evil with out reason or purpose, we get to see a glimps on Sid's ambitions as well as Baron's true colors but the character that really got fleshed out was Zangetsu so far I see him as a heroic villain, doing necessary evil's for the greater good, keeping himself realistic of the situation and questioning Gaim's Idealistic point of view who wants to desperately want to find another way, you could say they are 2 faces of the same coin. Baron on the other hand is just your typical power obsessed anti-hero who only cares for himself or so he shows, since the main 4 characters in the intro are gaim, baron, zangetsu and ryuhho and considering who is writing this story I'm expecting Bravo to die pretty soon, he was a big threat at firsts but ever since the introduction of energy riders he has become obsolete and more of a comic relief character, I was really hoping more from him since he was one of my faves. Zangetsu and Gaim are my favorite character so far with Sid and Bravo close seconds. so what do you guys think of the series so far? what are your expectations for the upcoming episodes? what do you like and dislike? *Jess♥ Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 AARGH, I cannot read your post!!! I almost did, but i have to get teh newer eps of gaim now to watch and then come here and reply to you!! 2 Quote
odin Posted March 20, 2014 Author Posted March 20, 2014 Dang, things are getting even more intense, I like the overwhelming odds that Gaim is facing after the big reveal of the forest, and these 2 episodes have officially made Zangetsu and Gaim the most interesting characters by far with their Idealist vs Realist point of view, Baron is so far predictable and Ryuho has me a bit disappointed with what he has been doing after the truth has been revealed, maybe he will get better later on but man this series really has me in suspense, I just hope Sengoku's true ambitions won't be generic ones. Quote
LordSpleach Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 Gaim kinda reminds me of Sho, while Baron is an immature Agito. 1 Quote
