- VIZ - Desperate!

- Chuang Yi - the prelude to pursuit

- Advocacy -

i love this chapter! action and a little bit of drama.

Murakami doesnt have his oav triangular baralled Max Factory Zoanoid Buster though :( just a normal 'freedom arms' revolver, thus cant blow holes in zoanoids. strange that the 'freedom arms' inscription is shown in chuang yi but not in the Viz version.

Sho realises he can use his head sensors to search for people/ zoanoids for the first time.

Murakami tells Sho hes protecting mankind aswell as his friends. so no pressure.

I was sad this wasn't adapted to the anime. Let's see how many times have these people been captured so far?

Tetsuro: 2 though do we got issue 2 as three?

Mizuki: First time they got her to the base, Zerebuth picking her up could be the second.

Dad: First.

I don't think they're captured again until the 29th book.

Murakami shows there is a LOT more to him than he appears. I really like Zoanoid Broize too. The pacing about this issue always seems a little weird or at least the first part. What happened after Sho and Murakami got back from the fight with Aptom? Did Murakami say 'go meet those guys but kick their asses' and Sho divided from the plan because he thought it was a bad idea? Or did Murakami go to get some stuff and then Sho was contacted and Murakami was able to find his way back, a missed hint that he can detect Zoanoids? It always seemed weird the way he busted in suddenly because I just wasn't sure what happened after the fight.

the oav adapted it and it was a good episode also... like i said im glad they gave Murakami the Zoanoid buster gun as it made it more believable for this seemingly normal dude to have survived against Cronos.

As for the kidnapping i think it shows sho has been doing his job ever since if they havent been captured again since then!

i know what you mean about the pacing - i was like - did i miss a chapter???

but think about it logically, Cronos have the Segawas and Sho's father. what do they do in that situation? send an agent to tell Sho and Set a trap, its a standard

plan by now.

Murakami was probably either keeping an eye on Sho unkowingly to Sho or they may have arranged for Sho to go in alone to feel out the situation and Murakami felt he needed to intervene?

its a good job hewas there because didnt he arise suspicion in Sho about zoanoid Mizuki, the whole reason Sho asked about her birthday...

Murakami is - you might have guessed ;) - one of my favorite characters. When he showed up in the OAV, I was intrigued by what his angle might have been. He obviously had some issues, not to mention experience, with Chronos. Not to mention the fact that he clearly wasn't human, what with the glowing eyes and all.

I presume that Viz didn't have the gun inscription because the whole image is flopped. Though if i remember right, I think they kept Sho's "Bent" shirt the right way round. I seem to recall pointing it out in another thread around here.

Also, I'm not entirely sure i've read this chapter. books 2-5ish are a bit of a grey area for me so i might give them a read so i can keep up with your threads now. though i do remember flipping through my japanese copies and seeing Murakami's puny revolver and being disappointed after watching his Max Factory Zoanoid Buster in the OVA. :(

good point on the image flipping. lazy Viz me thinks.

these earlier books are also bit vague to me aswell, reson being i just relied on the OAV's mostly and they are obviously different!!!

I like Broize and Gorvilba even if they were just typical strength based Zoanoids with no super powers. They were seemingly the next step for Gregole and Ramothith it sounds like but it seems like they weren't easy to reproduce. Though Gorvilba does show up again in book 9 unlike Broize. Maybe it's the design I like all those lines and rough texture, colors and he sort of reminds me of Marvel's Abomination. Too bad we don't even get to see his death.

I liked the Freedom arms gun. It's a real world gun, and shows Takaya is doing some actual research for this story. And it shows just how durable zoanoids are. Without that gun, someone could just say 'Use armor piercing rounds'! But now we know that it wouldn't work. At that point Sho and Tetsuo hadn't much experience with zoanoids and guns together, so it was still a possibility. The real world gun helped me feel the story was a bit more real. world building and all. Not just random masturbation on the page-like dragon ball where power levels just go up to excite the fanboys.
