Kamen Rider Fourze Series Discussion

Okay people, OOO is over with now so that means that Fourze will be starting this weekend. As it is with all the other past series that we have discussion thread for, here are the rules with a couple new ones added on.

Rule 1: Keep the discussion to the series of topic. If using a reference of another series to compare a certain event to one shown in the show then please do so carefully.

Rule 2: Do not post regular episode info about a newly aired episode until 1 day after either TV-Nihon and/or Over-Time Fansubs have released their subbed episodes. If you do wish to post this type of info before the sub is available then please use spoiler tags. (trust me, it's worth it for the newbies)

Rule 3: If placing a spoiler for an event in a spoiler tag and you find the need to add a comparison to a previous Rider series in with it, make sure to place the other Rider series event in its own spoiler tag within the main spoiler tag. (Yeah, confusing but you all should be able to get it after a couple of tries).

Rule 4: Respect the fan-dom. Just because you may not like this series as a whole or just certain episodes does not give you the right to bash the opinions of those that do.

Any violation of these rules will either have the post edited for content or have their post deleted (this part only in the most extreme of measures and cases of violation). These rules also apply to me as well in which case the Admin and Mod's have the right to enact any justice that they see fit for this topic.

I have to admit, the suit looks really kooky, but i am sure it fits the style, as the series appears to be pretty gung-ho and rather goofy in style.

This is definitely new ground for Kamen Rider in general. quick bit, but I think (don't read if you have not seen the OOO finale)

that OOO and Fourze might be in the same universe as we see two of the Fourze cast with one of them holding a Switch at the end of the OOO finale

I guess the suit might grown on me but I have no intention of possibly buying things from this series. I still can't stand that blasted belt of his. Heck, it makes the Decadriver, Double-driver, IXA-driver and even the Rouzer look small in comparison.

I think Youtube does have a few videos. Let me see. Remember, we might not have these videos for very long as we all know how anal Toei is getting with the YT hosting of any video containing Sentai and Rider footage.

yes you are definitely right. they are all in the same universe from here on. since the end of decade, they seem to be intent on keeping the universe as one.

The cast looks like Juvenile Delinquents and gangsters, with their outrageous hairdoo.

Again, I'm gonna have to skip this one out. Too troublesome to follow it weekly. I'll watch it when It's complete, like how OOO's is now complete.

I will give it a 5 episode test to see if it keeps me interested, from what I can see on the trailers it seems like it will be very over the top which is not a bad way to go i just hope that the story is at least interesting. I don't mind the costume, I kinda like it for some reason and the abilities looks pretty cool, the only problem i would see is the belt, it looks pretty cumbersome and impractical for battle (as far as kamen rider goes), I'm sure they could have done a better job at doing the switch system but it is already done so no use complaining about it.

Oh, some tidbits I picked up about the names of the character. Apparently, they are using anagrams from previous riders as naming conventions for the characters. An example is UTaHoShi KeNGo => HoNGoU TaKeShi. Cool, I wonder if you guys can find anything out.

And while we're discussing Fourze, I'd like to ask as to what his symbol is. I read before that this is supposed to be Four Z's, so like the previous rider which is "OOO", would this then be reflected as "ZZZZ"? I'm asking this as I'm going to put a placeholder for Fourze in the forum wiki.

I LOVE IT!

it's so cool in so many ways!

it's exciting, it's fun, it's got energy!

I love the rocket arm. that thing is so awesome. it looks pretty awful on it's own, it looks like a tacky toy, but with the special effects added in, it just completely transforms it into something that is raw with power,energy and 'WOW'.

this is actually the coolest rider since faiz. I mean the way he moves, the way things light up and the way fights pan out.

that rider kick, was definitely a rival to faiz' rider kick. that was so awesome, I couldn't stop laughing!

I need to learn that a initial design that looks really bad, has a really good chance at being really awesome.

saw the raw and it left me smiling, like i imagined it is pretty over the top so i'm expecting some crazy and creative things on this series, oh and the theme song is pretty catchy too.

I just got home so i haven't watched it yet. I DLed it and got the script file from Over-Time to watch it sub-par subbed but, meh. I do like the OP song...but that sequence alone is just terrible. Is that the best they could come up with for an OP sequence? Hell, Hibiki had a better OP sequence and I hate Hibiki on all levels...except for the 2-part Decade version.

I just watched it and i can't identify any apparent weaknesses.

but then you do a lot of music videos so you are pretty switched on in this regard.

one thing i'm picking up on with this series is the motif, whereas in OOO the motif was the circles and the linking of the primary colour to each set of medals etc, in ZZZZ the main motif seems to be very saturated colours. it seems to me that things that are significant are give a very strong saturated colour. other than that there doesn't seem to be any significant shape.

I'm also wondering about a type of design i've noticed which is a nodular type design that suggests circuitry.

I just didn't like how much of the sequence looked slapped together. Yes, some of it was nice but nothing truly unique. It's probably just me though. I'm very picky on how a scene should look for a sequence. Probably why I never like half of the music videos I create as I'm limited by the availability and by the type of software that I have.

I watched Overtime's ass file last night.

there's a few things i didn't pick up when i watched the raw.

for example, the name of the kaijin, Orion. it seems the kaijin are based on constellations then... perhaps. I liked how they designed him with the 3 stars on his belt. makes perfect sense of course.

re-watched the first episode and I'm ready to give it my first impression rating, I must give it a solid A , great first episode, already over the top and wacky, characters are interesting, the costume has already grown on me (yea, i like it very much, it may be a bit weird but it is still and original design) and I already want to know what is what in the story, I guess I will be following the story, the only thing that i still can't get over is the belt, i'm sure they could have done a better job but oh well, it is there, here is hoping that the Rival rider of this series looks more awesome,although i find it hard to top KR Birth's design. .

Some more tidbits I picked up from the japanese wiki. As I mentioned previously, names of the characters are anagrams from previous kamen riders. And here's a list of them:

Utahoshi Kengo = Hongo Takeshi (Kamen Rider 1)

Joujima Yuuki = Yuuki Jouki (Riderman)

Daimonji Jun = Ichimonji Hayato (Kamen Rider 2) [difficult to explain, but they combined the kanji for "Ichi" and "hito" to form "dai"]

Kazashiro Miu = Kazami Shirou (Kamen Rider V3)

JK = initials for Jin Keisuke (Kamen Rider X)

Nozama Tomoko = Amazon spelled backwards

oh wellz I was going to watch this tonight, but it seems those guys at 'overtime' think it's a smart idea to use some fancy codec setting that regular mediaplayer classic can't run.

what's up with that?

I mean, I've never had any issue with mkv files before. what on earth is wrong with sticking to basics.

there's never any problem with RAWS or with TVN files.

Ryuki, try this site. They usually have both the RAW (in .avi) and Over-Time's script up for a new episode by late Thursday. that and you can usually watch them streaming if they have them available.

this is the same site I recommended to Durendal for his streaming Kuuga fix.

I really like Fourze. I've always been fascinated by the constellations since I was 11. And for the monsters to be based on them makes this series truly astronomical!!!! Loving the Astro Switches that Gentaro uses. Namely the Chainsaw, Drill, Launcher & Rocket ones because of what they can do.</p>

seriously, it's not a case of being angry or upset at anything in particular.

I'm just not feeling it at all. last night I was halfway through episode 3 and i just closed mediaplayer and opened up nichijou instead.

I was that bored.

I just don't have any motivation to watch it. I don't feel like there is anything of interest after episode 1.

I think the things they are showing us are almost generic.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on it. are you feeling the same?

I am not really sure yet, i always give a series a 5 episode trial to see if it catches my attention, like you said, the first episode was epic and interesting , episode 3s case on the other hand is a bit different dealing with the queen festival, maybe that is why you got bored? not very interested on it perhaps, what do you mean by being almost generic?

hmm, I mean something like the switches. the switches seems like a re-paint of the medals or the gaia memories.

the kaijin as well, the kaijin are made with switches too, the same as the past two series. this episode shows a new switch and how it works in a different way, just like the new medal, or the new gaia memory.

and the characters don't even seem to be very compelling. there is nothing interesting about them to suggest why i would care about who wins some queen pageant. the main character says he wants to become friends with everyone in the school, which feels more like a gimmick rather than an interesting character trait.
