*Chernaudi Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 Glad that you're enjoying your time on campus Quote
river_chaos Posted October 21, 2014 Author Posted October 21, 2014 Oh my word, senior year is rough. It feels like I haven't gotten a break in forever. At least I'm keeping up with everything in school. For one of my senior projects, I'm doing a tribute to Guyver (not that many people are going to notice ). Hopefully I can pull it off and be able to place it in my senior show next semester. Quote
river_chaos Posted December 2, 2014 Author Posted December 2, 2014 I can't believe how fast time has flown! It's already December and everyone's getting ready for finals exams. I'm going to try to get Vol. 31 of Guyver off of eBay sometime after the holidays. That might be what I'll do for future volumes from now on; the scanlations keep getting mixed up on my tablet every time I try to read Guyver and I like have the physical copies. Quote
river_chaos Posted December 5, 2014 Author Posted December 5, 2014 Have I mentioned that one of my classes if called Music of Harry Potter? Yes, we do have a class like that on campus. It is taught by the residential organist and book worm of the music department, and she has turned us all into movie/music critics. We're even nit picking the reviews made by critics! Once you learn all the music terms and then watch the movies, you see that most critics tend to just listen to the soundtracks and not the movies. Now we all have an 'ear' to pick up individual themes and leitmotifs and a critical view of compositions (tone, execution, etc.). We all have our favorite composers and our least favorite (*cough*Goblet of Fire*cough*), and John Williams is among the top three with Nicholas Hooper (once he actually pulled his head out of his rear and did some good work) and Alexandre Desplat (who also composed the music for the new Godzilla), if not number one on a few lists. I could go on and on about it for the next three years. Once you take a class like that, you'll never look at movies the same again! Quote
river_chaos Posted December 27, 2014 Author Posted December 27, 2014 So, my step-sis rescued her Pomeranian dog from her dad on Christmas day before he could 'give it away' like he did to two of her other dogs. After some digging around, I found the dog brush and she brushed a ton of dead fur off of the poor thing; I even had to get my fabric scissors out to cut off the matted chunks (his tail is almost bald now because of it). During this, we found signs of mange on the poor thing, so today he's getting treated to a medical bath with a dose of organic shampoo to help with the itchy skin. A very poor way to say 'Merry Christmas', huh? Quote
river_chaos Posted January 23, 2015 Author Posted January 23, 2015 This semester of school has started...with me hitting the ground running. It's my last semester and I've got mixed feelings about graduating. I'm glad to be getting my diploma soon, but sad I'll be leaving this wonderful campus. I also am anxious about this last stretch because I have so much to prepare for for graduation (senior exhibit, etc.), and apparently I'll be the first in my family to receive a Bachelor's Degree in anything. Lots to do in so little time (and so little budget). Quote
*Jess♥ Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 it seem like you've been there for such a short time. well good luck for your graduation! Quote
river_chaos Posted January 25, 2015 Author Posted January 25, 2015 Thanks, Yuki-chan. New stuff: I finally got and beated Pokémon Alpha Sapphire completely...It. Was. Fantastic! It's a well executed remake of the old Hoenn region games with a lot of upgrades. I love the new Primal forms of Kyogre and Rayquaza, and I was super happy to get the chance to catch Deoxys in-game finally. My only complaint about it is that leveling up all the Pokémon in my party seemed too easy as I completely annihilated the Gym Leaders and League. Still, it's fun and addictive! Quote
river_chaos Posted February 8, 2015 Author Posted February 8, 2015 So, the Pokémon Company released "official" images of a speculated Mythical Pokémon named Hoopa, which was mentioned a few times in Pokémon X/Y yet was never released. I honestly had no idea this Pokémon existed until the announcement (just thought it was just something random in the game), but now after digging around the Pokémon community I found that the coding for Hoopa exists in X/Y and people have been hacking the game to get the Pokémon in their party. Why they waited to reveal Hoopa after the release of Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire, I have no idea unless they were planning to releasing it along with the movie it's going to star in later this year. It would explain a few things when it comes to catching certain legendary Pokémon in the game. Quote
river_chaos Posted February 14, 2015 Author Posted February 14, 2015 Got the new Majora's Mask remake for the 3DS today. I. Love. It! The graphics are brighter, Clock Town is more spread out, the bosses are harder to kill (already went through Woodfall Temple and my neighbors heard me say "Die already, you rat bastard" for over thirty minutes when fighting the boss), and saving the game is a hell of a lot easier than in the original. There have been tweaks added to the story line, such as more information being given as you progress through the game, but they're more like patches to plot holes or just things for people that don't crack open the manual. Sound effects and music are much clearer in the game, so players can more enjoy the soundtrack as they journey through Termina. While I'm not a big fan of remakes, I can't help but fall in love again with the Legend of Zelda when this remake is perfectly executed like this. I would highly recommend this to any Zelda fan out there, or for those looking for a good RPG. 1 Quote
river_chaos Posted February 18, 2015 Author Posted February 18, 2015 So got a message from my mom this morning saying how she wasn't amused with my recent purchases at Hobby Lobby and an online bookstore. She put money in my account to put towards tuition, but the demand for art supplies (nerd club is trying to be more active in events and is asking all of use crafty members to make things for the big events) and trying to better preserve my First Communion Bible kinda put a damper in that until Thursday when I get paid. I guess I should probably tell her that I got over an hour's worth of over time two weeks ago when the flu hit most of the campus hard for several days and we were short staffed that week, so that's another $50 to my paycheck that can go towards tuition this month. I'm still upset that I made her upset though. I hate disappointing my family Quote
river_chaos Posted February 27, 2015 Author Posted February 27, 2015 Fellow nerds, it has been brought to my attention that the original Spock of the Star Trek series has passed away RIP Mr. Nemoy Quote

river_chaos Posted March 14, 2015 Author Posted March 14, 2015 Yesterday, the entire University got hit with tragedy. One of our students was killed in a car accident yesterday morning. Everyone on campus is mourning; it's unnaturally quiet here in the dorms while I'm typing this now. I didn't know the guy as well as I should have, but I knew he was a contagious optimist where ever he went. He was in my department (art) and had a lot going for him. R.I.P. buddy Quote
river_chaos Posted March 25, 2015 Author Posted March 25, 2015 On Spring Break and already pulling ticks off my dogs. At least the powder I bought back in December works; they're not as infested as last year. On another note: I have taken up the Pokémon card game online. The rules are surprisingly straightforward and easy to get a hang of after a few battles. It's much easier than Yu-Gi-Oh, but then again it was made for kids 10 years an up in mind. Quote
river_chaos Posted April 19, 2015 Author Posted April 19, 2015 It's almost graduation time for me, and I'M READY TO GET THIS OVER WITH!! High school graduation wasn't nearly as stressful as this! On another note, I was browsing through Etsy today and came across a kimono inspired by Harley Quinn's costume. It actually looks good, and the same shop sells a Pikachu kimono too. (I was going to post the link to said kimono, but it's not letting me do it for some odd reason.) 1 Quote

*Chernaudi Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 That's great Riv. Have any plans post gradulation? Quote
river_chaos Posted May 23, 2015 Author Posted May 23, 2015 Thanks guys! Well, I plan on getting a summer job before taking some digital design classes at the local public university, then I plan on getting a job in graphic/webpage design. Quote
river_chaos Posted May 29, 2015 Author Posted May 29, 2015 I finally got Volume 31 of Guyver! Now, to save some cash for 32 when it comes out. Quote
river_chaos Posted June 4, 2015 Author Posted June 4, 2015 Well, my dog was mad at me for a good part of the day. I had to shave his belly to get a whole mess of ticks off of him and he refused to let me shave the rest of him. He laid down in his little bed and pouted for a while. Other than that, I've been reading up on I Ching divination. It's a rather interesting bit of Chinese culture. Quote
river_chaos Posted June 8, 2015 Author Posted June 8, 2015 Sunday, I got to be an all out girl with my step-sisters by going shopping! One of them is pregnant, so the two of us that weren't decided to spoil her and buy her a whole mess of maternity clothes since her boyfriend is a deadbeat....(truthfully, when I went to her house and looked at her wardrobe, every fiber of my being said, "Oh hell no! This shall not continue!" and I told her outright I was going to buy her as much as she needed). My sister and I had waaay too much fun dressing her up like a Barbie doll, but it was worth it. We picked out a bunch of clothes for her and left the mall with three bags worth of clothes. She was extremely happy when we got home and showed off her spoils to her mom. Today, I relented and bought a Wii U after getting my university transcript. Wished they had more colors options, but whatever, it'll entertain me on my down days. 1 Quote
river_chaos Posted June 26, 2015 Author Posted June 26, 2015 So far I have Transformers: Prime for it. Currently borrowing some of my brother's games like Wind Waker. I recently have been working with a temp agency I worked with before again, and the cons are outweighing the pros in this job. My university professors stressed the importance of punctuality, and the work team I'm with has no sense of punctuality. Even the team lead isn't there 70% of the time and is usually late. My coworkers are great to talk to and work with, but when their late all of us get into trouble. I've been applying at other places and I'm hoping to get a better job some time before I start school again in the fall (got accepted into a local, public university recently). On another note, I got complimented the other day. Last week I bought a romper from one of my favorite stores called Romancing the Stone. Three days ago I'm wearing the romper while walking around the mall with my stepmom. We go into the store I bought the romper from, and both associates on duty came up to me and said I looked adorable in it. Got one heck of a confidence boost that day and more reason to love that store. 1 Quote
