Celebrated a good Father's Day with the family after slipping and falling on the outside stairs this morning.  Been in pain for most of the day, but I've been through worse so I really can't complain.

One thing I do regret doing today is giving my dad a whiskey flask before the annual lunch with meemaw.  He filled it with whiskey and spiked my soda while I wasn't looking.  His girlfriend and I ripped him and my brother a new one for that.

Sometimes its good to sit back and get plastered. Not long ago. My little sister, my wife, my wife's brother, and I did jello shots. I got slightly drunk. But I begin to feel sad and depressed when I am drunk, so instead of that happening. I quit drinking that night and went to bed.  I felt that I didn't want a hang over the next morning. So I went that route instead.lol

Well, I don't drink, period. Personal preference. I can't stand the smell of alcohol. Smells like nasty medication or other hospitaly smells or nail polish remover. The latter I can sorta stand, given that if I had a GF who was into nail art, I'd love to help her with that, but I can't stand alcohol. Even the non-alcoholic Irish cream coffee creamer stuff tastes a bit like that, unless I leave it in coffee like overnight, then it's pretty good.

I've just wanted to shy away from stuff like alcohol and tobacco my whole life, and that's in spite of my parent's being smokers and such.

Glad you had a good Father's Day/weekend otherwise, Riv :)

People, there is a reason to not go to work when you are sick with the flu!

Why am I posting this? A moron at dad's work place went to work with a high fever that turned out to be a flu symptom!  First dad got sick, then his girlfriend, then me, and now my brother.  Seriously!? Why do people have to be so stupid in this day and age? Does no body practice common sense except for the few people that do? At least the moron got wrote up for this.

Posted

Some of it's greed or even the simple want/need for money, and some people who run and own some of these places are bungholes with sick pay and benefits.  I didn't like calling off work and when I was only slightly ill, I went in.  But if I was total crap, I called off.  Lots of people go though the office where I work, and hence if I'm sick, the chances are good that they might get what I have, and vice versa.

Of course, the flu in winter is bad enough.  It's now in the middle of summer and that'll only make things worse if anything.  I hope that you'll be feeling better soon.

Posted

At the work place, nobody is to come in if they're sick at all.  The company takes everything seriously; any form of contamination in the products could close the plant permanently.  Everyone is given plenty of sick days incase something like this happens, but a lot of idiots work at the plant where dad works.

Posted

If that's the case, then there's no excuse to turn up to work unless it's absolutely necessary.  Hell, it seems that they give employees plenty of reasons and incentives to call off sick if they're not well.  Headaches, upset stomachs, maybe a minor cold, I can understand.  But if you've got a bad cold or the flu or worse, why risk it and making others sick at work?  And as you mentioned, any disease going around could close the plant until at least everything is disinfected.  Very counter productive I say.

That's why when I'm really sick, I usually call off work.  Everyone congregates around my area where I work, and there's no reason, especially in seasons where people get ill anyways, for me to risk making things worse for myself or others.

Ever been disappointed in a video game you were really looking forward to getting?

That's me with the Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword when I finally picked up my Wii controllers again after God knows how long.  I was child's play for me!  The only thing that made thing difficult is the bug ridden motion control over everything!  I try to stab, and Link does a vertical swing :frusty: I don't think I need to elaborate much on that, but the dungeon system....oh my word!  It's ridiculously easy!  The exploration part of the game got taken out and replaced with an obstacle course that does nothing to help slow the hero down.  The story had numerous plot holes; seriously, where does Demise actually fit into this mess during the war mentioned in the beginning cinema video? Why isn't he mentioned in the legends?

It usually takes me several weeks to complete a Zelda game entirely; this only took me 4 damned days to complete!  Can we say DISAPPOINTING?

Play Skyrim and you'll never be disappointed again, my friend :P. You can be anything and their are around 8 races and 2 genders to choose from. You can be your own person. Good or Evil; its up to you. If you haven't played it, you owe it to yourself to try Skyrim.

Can't really say that video games bore me--I still play a bunch of old PS2 games.  But movies do bore me at times.  Aside from like the Twilight Saga films, Guyver cartoons, some World War II stuff, Cher or Kristen Stewart films, and some documentary films (like the Audi Truth in 24 films), a lot of the action films and such out there do bore me.  I'd rather give my girlfriend (if I had one) a manicure and a pedicure and watch her nail polish dry than watch some of the films out there today.

As far as games, I'd have to say from my POV that you can't really get too bored with the Gran Turismo series, old Medal of Honor games, nor Postal 2, the latter is a crappy, really stupid game, but it its craptastic-ness and stupidity that does make it fun.

Sadly, I don't have an Xbox nor PS system.  All my game stuff is Nintendo since I really don't play a wide variety of games (nor do I usually have the time to play).

I've really begun to notice how rude people get in Wal-Mart; a lady with a disabled child stole our shopping cart while me and my dad's GF were bra shopping.  ...Seriously? There are plenty of carts next to the entrance you lazy bum!  I didn't say anything to the lady because she would probably start up unneeded drama since she had a disabled kid with her.  *sigh* At least an employee was kind enough to bring us one out when we went to get another cart.

Happy 4th of July!

Everything happens at Wal-Mart, and you deal with all the people in there. There's more people like that than anyone of us can count. When I worked there, I saw a lot of morbidly obese( 400lb's- 600lbs) people riding around in the Wal-Mart motorized carts and sometimes they were so big that the cart's battery would die. I worked there for 3 years and I have to say that I don't miss being there.

Its honestly not a good place to find a job; once you get a few raises and some benefits, they start cutting your hours and giving you write ups until they can fire you, its happen to a lot of people I know that now USED to work there, getting fired there was the best thing that happened to me because now I work some where that pays better and that I enjoy.

Wal-Mart is the worst place to be on Black Friday. I know a woman where I work that got assualted over a desk top computer that she was going to buy and it was really cheap.

Sorry you and your family had to deal with that. Me and my wife almost never go to Wal-Mart anymore. She never forgave them for having me fired.

My brother worked at Walmart, twice--and he quit, twice. Only reason why I shop there is that it's close, a bit cheaper than Meijer, and we know where everything is in the store. And usually the only time we go there is late at night or the middle of the day where the store's less packed.

It was bad enough that you had your cart taken away from you when you were lingerie shopping, just imagine if you do as I do and go food shopping there. I'm glad that none of that has happened to me yet, and there are times of the year where I habitually avoid going there.

I also had to deal with a lot of pricks when I worked at the library downtown. At least things are more pleasant where I'm working at now, though it's still downtown. But then again, you're always going to have things the remind you (or me, rather) of Postal 2, where everyone's rude or being a dumbass.

Are there other places in your area where you and your family can shop? That's one thing why I'm thankful that GM pulled out of Mansfield, we're now a big retail store area.

There are other places for us to grocery shop, but they're not easy to access where we live (and the one closest to our house has higher prices with a parking lot filled with pot holes).  I've had friends that worked at Wal-Mart and gladly left to go work in factories instead.

Recently I've noticed that the iTunes store makes no bloody sense.  They have a good selection of the movies I want, but there are some Disney classics that I love and they don't have.  They have the sound tracks, but not the movies....Someone explain this logic to me please!  *sigh* Big companies make no sense to me most of the time...their logic escapes me.

Anywho, we recently got tick and flea coalers for our doggies since they go into the nearby swampy area to cool off (despite the fact we got them a kiddy pool for that reason).  It's gradually helping, but we're gonna have to give them flea and tick baths before we go to the vet Wednesday to completely get them annoying blood-suckers off.

I've noticed that too, with Itunes. Certain bands they don't even sell Albums for either. It is annoying. Lime Wire was really a blessing back in the old days when it came to downloading free music and movies. Too bad the Feds shut it down. It seems that when we all have something good, there's normally always some one else out there that wants to ruin it for everyone.

I don't even have anything with ITunes on it.  I have a MP3 player that still has nothing on it, but outside of that, I don't have anything to support ITunes.

But that's idiotic logic, having soundtracks but not the actual films.  That'd be like if Audi made a Truth in 24 III about this year's race at Le Mans.  And they allowed ITunes the soundtrack, but not the film.  Hell, I already know the sound track I'd like to hear (and these are two of the shorter videos I've seen, there's one nearly 7 hours long by another user, and no, I haven't watched the whole thing):

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PgOSFo5m_NA

These are probably the oddest, most aggravating sounds you might ever hear, but as an Audi fan, I like them, and the guys driving the cars, they have to put up with it more or less 3.5-almost 4 hours in a row behind the wheel.  But that's my dream soundtrack from Truth in 24 III, and you don't need ITunes for it ;)

BTW, that's the fate of my brother--he now works in a factory (Jones' Potato Chips) because he didn't want to chance Walmart a third time.

Have I ever mentioned that I'm the unofficial dog caretaker in my home? I pretty much do everything with the dogs, including scooping up and disposing their doodoo.

We have three dogs total: one's full grown female, and the other two are male puppies around 5 months old.  One of these pups is a part wolf with a bad habit of doing his business close to the carport where we grill.  How do we know it's this particular pup doing it? He went #2 in the house and the stench made our stomachs turn.  I don't know what we're giving him to have such issues, but we've made sure to keep an eye on him since then if he's in the house; I'd rather not waste another can of Febreeze again.

Currently training my future step-mom to take care of them and learn their meal time routines for when I go back to college.  She's already imagining me texting her to feed the dogs and whatnot XD

Made the mistake of reading Attack On Titan before going to bed last night :cold:  I forgot how bloody the slaughter scenes are, damn!  I don't think the anime has so much blood in it, but then again they probably had to tone it down to even get it on TV in Japan and America.

Finally got ahold of the Maximum Ride manga :)  I have to say: the manga is easier to read than the novels.  You're not having to process the details through Max's point of view 90% of the time.

I'll be giving some dogs a much needed flea bath later in the evening.  The flea problem has gotten pretty bad, and it appears we're going to have to switch flea/tick drops because the stuff we currently have doesn't stick to the dogs skin like its supposed to.  At least we've got the flea/tick collars on them to keep the little buggers off their heads.

Finally back to school!  Yay!  My professors are all from different fields, and will make class interesting this year.  My business professor will even get out a water gun and drench you in ice cold water for missing class without an excuse.

I got a Theater Major for a roommate this year; she's cool, and the girlfriend of a good friend of mine.  We get along and talk, even talk about random stuff like when our dogs made a horrendous mess that made us gag.

I'm already missing my puppy, and apparently he's missing me too.  I'm glad dad's GF is will to bring him up every now and then when she visits.

I found a new way to determine when I'm extremely stressed: apparently I sound like one of those weird creatures from the Dark Crystal movie when I groan in frustration.  I didn't know I could even do that O.o

Classes are going great.  I'm very excited about the school year, especially Family Weekend that got moved up to this month instead of October.  Everyone's going to be in a rush to prepare for that in time.  Nerd club is going great; we've got a wide variety of Freshmen this year, so hopefully we'll have more members.

I'm about to head to bed.  Work was rough tonight, and I've got classes that need my full attention tomorrow.  See ya later!
