dragonball z must have been insanely annoying.

I mean, if they have cut down on the excess for DBkai, then i can't imagine how it must have been before.

the fight with freeza really went on WAY TOO LONG.

but now i know what a super saiyan is. I have to say it is quite cool, but it would have been much better if they could get a clue about pacing.

as such i'm feeling a little disappointed.

well lucky for me the follow up was a bit more rewarding.

when that guy who i have heard of before but don't know where he came from came along and did something surprising to some guy who we thought was gone for good.

yeah trunks really handed it to freeza and papa

to be honest I am looking forward to getting dragonball z/kai out of the way.

the pacing is terrible and not enough character development.

the original dragonball series was much better.

oh well, thems the breaks. Dragonball (Z) never really was about character development except for piccollo and vegeta in some kind of small way. it really is just all about fighting, fighting , FIGHTING!!!!

this is why i said to me now naruto is better than DB, the fights are awesome aswell as everything else. unfortunately i think it just comes down to that DB is dated and the fights were never as intricate as some other anime. however i still think its cool

i started to watch dgrayman.

me no like.

depressing.

I heard tekkaman is good. or is it teknoman? or is there a few series?

hmm, need info on that.

hey ryuki, i actually dont like dbz very much, but i think you'll like the Cell saga/arc more than you did the freiza saga. it had more character development for gohan and i honestly thought the series focus had shifted to him. the cell saga and the opening episodes of the buu saga is the only portions of dbz i like.

i hope im not spoiling anything by naming sagas or arcs.

and i cant remember if you liked veoh or not, but the first season of "Tekkaman", thats what the japanese version is called and the dubbed american/uk version is called teknoman. i absolutely can not stand the teknoman version... the voice acting is not to my liking.

if you dont mind using veoh you'll have to login to the site, as the episodes are rated 18+. i dont normally join sites like that cause usually there's a catch. but veoh is remarkably catch free. login and search Tekkaman Blade. there is actually first season and a few episodes of season two.

as for where you can get teh entire series online im not sure, i only found teh series up to... 42 or 43 i think. and there are 49 episodes.

tekkaman blade is actually quite enjoyable. it has a certain guyver feel, and a great threat to earth story line.

Just to clarify seom certain points about Tekkaman, "Tekkaman" is the 1975 anime produced by Tatsunoko Productions. Very very old. Perhaps you are referring to "Tekkaman Blade", which was animated in 1992. The opening sequence of the anime also happens to be the work of Masami Obari, the guy known for making the bouncy boobs popular.

And speaking of Dragonball, I would not recommend Dragonball GT. The story of this series is originally made for the anime, and the only involvement of Akira Toriyama is limited to the design of the logo as well as the characters and mechanical design. I haven't seen the series so I can't recommend it.

thanks guys, I'll have a look for tekkaman blade. i think this is the one i have heard some of the guys on here talking about.

I haven't really been into any type of mecha anime so it'll be a change.

as for dragonball, I got up to date on kai and now i'm annoyed because i want to watch more.

even though the lack of char development is frustrating, i just have a love for the atmosphere.

i get the feeling i would want to watch dragonball GT even if it is not canonical, because it's like i want to roll around in the goodness of it.

last night, I watched episode 3 of dragonball Z. i like dragonball Z. it has more stuff in it and actually makes more sense in places. like in DBkai, they said "shen long can't bring the same person back to life again" and I was thinking... well that was kinda out of the blue. in dragonball Z they actually specifically said that he won't grant the same wish twice. that made more sense.

the pacing seems better, in kai, it all seemed like everyone was running around and playing a guitar riff every couple of seconds, it was like watching it in fast forward. of course, come to long fights, that is a good thing. but at other times, i think they need more pacing.

larz, I don't mind you talking about arcs, it is generally non descriptive.

i think i know who buu is. majin buu? i saw pictures of him and i am aware that goku goes to heaven to do a tournament and gets SSJ3 at some point. i read a little bit but not too much.

well in kai, they are part way through the cell saga. cell is like the most notable character IMO. i had a t-shirt of cell, maybe 10 years ago. i never knew anything about him but when he arrived in the anime it was like the peak of the anime. so far. well now in kai, we are at the tournament. it has not started yet, just announced. and goku is now training with gohan and they are perfecting SSJ1.

btw, i didn't put spoilers because i figured anyone reading this would not have a clue what any of it means.

whoops i meant to mention that kai is so terrible when compared to regular dbz... my bad. kai is like dragonball z stripped down to the barest essentials and still had a lot info left out. plus the music and voice additions they added were just horrible. dbz is much better quality wise imo. and i dont even like dbz

and yeah, buu is majin buu.

i think i have the site stored somewhere that has the dbz torrent ryuki. would you like me to pm it to you? that is if i saved it?

Posted

no need thanks, i have [DBNL] torrent.

currently completed 56% and fully fetched up to episode 33.

and don't get me wrong, I like DBkai. i just think Z did a lot of good things with the original material.

it's the only reason I'm considering GT. because if the producers like the material enough to do this kind of good stuff to it, I have faith that they can maintain the integrity of the show into GT.

kai is good, but it's currently releasing at a weekly schedule and i have more time to fill than half hour.

Ryuki, i will reccomend Tekkaman Blade, it is a very damn good series. Also, despite the appearance, it is not a Mecha Anime. Tekkaman's suit is actually biological in nature, much like the Guyver. Poeple often confuse the Guyver for a robot too for some odd reason.

There is also a Tekkaman Blade II OVA series out there, but it's a give or take series. But believe me whne I say you wont regret seeing Tekkeman blade in it's fullest.

Oh and I have one more bit of comical trivia for you, in the UK version of Tekkaman Blade, the guy who voiced Evil Tekkaman (Evil Teknoman in the UK) was voiced by none other then Bulk from the power rangers. Weird...

Posted

hmm that would be wierd. but i won't listen to english dub anyway.

yeah definitely will watch tekkaman blade. thanks for teh recommendation. also, surprised it is biological. unlike teh guyver, it doesn't look biological. unless it behaves similar to ironman's new 'suit'.

anyway,

here is one of the reasons i love dbkai.

the music is awesome.

the composer is very good, I really like this work, It reminds me of the composing work for ninpu sentai hurricanger.

Indeed, i have the OST from the first season. Compared to the original series score, the new Kai is one of the better improvements. The music was so unusual that the US version of Dragon Ball Z ended up having an entire new composer work on it to make it sound cool. I only half agreed with that, afterall, the original series had some fantastic vocalized music, but just wouldn't fit in America. I also have the videogame OST's, which is what the new composer for Kai worked on, they are pretty niftyy, I'm actually socked, the guy did 20 years worth of Dragon Ball related OST's but only now got hired to do the main series via Kai. Wonder what took them so long in selecting him.

i have supermetroid for the snes and metroids for gamecube, although i do love it, i can never finish it, i get so lost and end up getting fed up with the games it self. poor sense of direction and poor memory skills. you really need both for the metroid series. even more so for the older console versions.

Posted

I figured you'd have no problems with it, did you have a similar problem with Metroidvania (castlevania games with metroid style maps) games?

By the way, those who are still avoiding the current fillers, we probably still have 2 or 3 more weeks before we go into the main plot. So just hang on.

I've been keeping myself preoccupied with Dorohedoro, it's bloody, gritty, weird, and overly optomistic despite this. Strangely enough, my friend in Washington directed me to it after getting her friends interested in it. He reasoning was that it seemed like a Manga I would write for. Turns out she was right, the characters in there are strangely similar to RP characters I created. Just a fair warning though for anyone who looks up this Manga, it is gory... not for the faint hearted, and it's humour is super bizarre, even by Japanese standards. I will examplify... One of the characters is a guy who loves mushrooms, and he turns poeple into mushrooms while running mushroom themed bussiness's, but at the same time always commands his minions to go about and do weird stuff to appease the devil's who are above society, which includes dancing in nothing but grass skirts... O_o

head cha la, great stuff, although i still wonder what it is supposed to mean.

anyway, wanted to let you know, i put on the first episode of tekkaman blade and hated it after less than 5 minutes.

i gave it a bit more chance to improve but i realy don't like it.

the atmosphere is not to my liking.

so i put on the first episode of yuu yuu hakusho.

brilliant, i love it.

light and airy, witty and upbeat.

Posted

i suppose the atmosphere was pretty... dour. i like post world annihilation stories.

i guess i had a good first impression is what it was. when i saw the first episode, it was exactly what i was wanting.

watching this series, while wanting an atmosphere of one peice or even naruto, i can see a person having a dislike to it.

I never really did see all the episodes of Tekkaman Blade. What I liked about the show was the concept and the design of the space knights. As for the story, I really can't say, but based on bits and pieces of episodes that I saw, it was rather gloomy. A bunch of people banding together in their plight for survival in a desparate situation.

Yuu Yuu, that I completely watched. That is the series that made Togashi the legend that he is. And publishers already coined up the term "togashism", where authors get ridiculous pay with little output. I just wish he'd stop being lazy and continue with his Hunter X Hunter manga. After watching Yuu Yuu, you might want to try and watch Hunter X Hunter. Even if the manga is not finished, you won't get fillers and the series will not end with a cliffhanger. Unlike other anime, Hunter X Hunter stays extremely loyal to the manga, and ends in the last finished arc of the manga. Any succeeding arcs of the manga are released as original video animation. So far there are 3 OVA that covers the Geneiryodan Arc and Greed Island arc.

awesome, i never heard of hunter x hunter. it sounds like a nasty anime but if it is by togashi then i think i will like it.

it's got that nice light atmosphere, like tenchi muyo, naruto, dragon ball. it can be serious, but then on odd moments can be absolutely hilarious.

i still remember kuririns first fight with jackie chun. so funny.

hey, I know i turned away from one piece, but i was wondering is there some point in it, that i can come in later, not spoil too much, but get a good idea for how the show may have improved over the years?

Posted

I haven't been keeping up with One Piece. Soooo many episodes and it would take forwever to catch up where I left.

Oh and I'm shocked, this weeks Naruto filler was actually pretty good. it had it's flaws, but I actually enjoyed the 3 filler characters thrown in because they were badass. Also, Naruto only did one jutsu in the filler, and it only lasted 3 seconds.... That feels incredibly fresh.

Posted

have you seen any epsiodes of one peice yet?

the first episode was fairly well to me. i just have an issue with too many flash backs (i have the same problem with naruto) and an issue with it taking a while to complete one story plot.

Posted

I watched up to some point where there was a dog.

and a building was burning i think.

luffy had rescued some guy. some tough guy.

it was only a few episodes.

I didn't like the atmosphere, the backgrounds didn't have enough depth so i could net get a feel for the world.

it felt very desolate, barren.

I wondered if there is a point later on, to see if they fix that or if that is the style all the way through.

im up to around 440 or so. i got fed up with it myself. i could go into detail but that would spoil some major plot material and plus, i cant promise to be unbiased.... it just takes forever to accomplish anything in the series. i was fine with the slow pace up to the arlong portion of the series, which was my favorite. but after that, it seemed to slow down.

as for the backgrounds. i never noticed it being bland, guess i never paid much attention to it.
