xfool Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 been playing a lot lately and its awesome, anyone else playing this too?
*BananaKing Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 I'm not a fan of befesta(sp) (the company that makes is) so I don't like fallout 3. I watched my brother play the last mission, and I really wasn't too impressed, I really don't know much about the game other than it takes place in a post apocalyptic future and you're looking for your father? I just like The Brotherhood of Steel, their suits are bitchin!
Matt Bellamy Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 What I love about Fallout 3, is that it's more of an FPS, with RPG elements. I'm still currently playing it, and can;t it for the new DLC coming on the 27th, and then in February and March... Jus whe Ithought I was almost done with it... it keeps bringing me back... Not that I am complaining in the least bit =P
*Jess♥ Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 i'm finding it tough to come up with ammo at the moment. i can see why it could be considered a fps, but actually I find myself using teh VATS more than normal shooting. do you find any advantage either way?

Not really... as an avid FPS game player, I find that my normal FPS shooting skills do tend to help in some situations ( like when you run out of AP). I tend to mostly use VATS now when the enemies are too close, or I need to protect something, or kill something quickly. Though it does tend to use up a bit more ammo than using VATS's exclusively.
Matt Bellamy Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Woooooooooooooooooo! Operation: Anchorage here I come!
*Jess♥ Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 yeah, more missions! I would be more interested if i had finished it and if i had some money to get it unless it's a free add-on.. i doubt that. i'm getting the hang of the game more now anyhow. I got killer weapon skills due to concentrating on repair and also getting more bang for buck with rock-it and combat shotgun.
*Jess♥ Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 the map design is really bad. in two senses. firstly, the actual map that you can look at to try and get your bearings... is terrible. i might be better off actually having a paper and pad and drawing it my bloody self. the environment design is poorly done. I go into some tunnels under the city.. i go a certain distance and come out and it just does not correlate. it's not as readily apparent here but what really brought it home to me was when i came to rivet city. actually rivet city is just a ridiculous oversight. you go through the dorr and it faces the WRONG WAY. as you go through the first door right ahead, you should be facing the side of teh ship. but for some whacked out reason, it is rotated 90 degrees to the right. the same thing happens with the other door. I can't understand how such a ridiculous thing has occured. it makes me feel really negatively about exploring. because if i see a building, i cannot trust that the inside will be a certain size. i will not go inside because for all i know it could be a lot to explore and i may not have time at that moment. I don't want to explore the subway systems. because i don't trust the physicality of tehworld. the subways sem endless and the map is just pathetic, there is no way to really keep your bearings effectively. i'm just gonna forget exploring and follow my radar from now on.

I've never notice those, when I first started playing I hardly use the local map cos it seems kinda unclear to me.Now I mainly use it to locate openings in the area.
*Jess♥ Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 maybe i notice it more because i naturally create maps in my mind as i go along. but you illustrated perfectly! you never use the local map because it is unclear.
guyverfanatic Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 Fallout 3 is one of THE best games I have ever played. It's too bad that next two DLC's have been delayed a month. The Pitt comes out in March and Broken Steel is out in April.
*Jess♥ Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 I have to agree.. besides the map problems, I have been really enjoying this game. It is great that they add to the game with this DLC. I think I wonder when i will finish the game, but there will be more stuff there to do! is it good value for money though? I had the choice between getting operation anchorage or the portal still alive. I got the portal still alive and discovered to my dismay, it was the game i already had. just with 14 custom maps stuffed on it. ten pounds is not good value for money for that IMO.

That all depends... do you think an extra 2 hours of game play is worth 800 points? Game play that I might add, is inferior to the normal Fallout 3 game play. I mean, ok, I got the armor, and the Gauss Rifle... but at the point I am at, I don't need either. Though they said OA would be the weakest of the DLC packs, I am hoping they pushed the other back a month to add more content.
guyverfanatic Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 The Pitt and Broken Steel both have 4-5 hours of content each. The same as Operation Anchorage.
Matt Bellamy Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 The Pitt and Broken Steel both have 4-5 hours of content each. The same as Operation Anchorage. I'm sorry if this sounds insulting to anyone... but if it took you 5 hours to beat Operation Anchorage... you were either level 1, or just picked the game up. It was 2 hours tops for me. Calling OA a 4-5 hour content pack should have the people at Bethesda shot... Unless they all suck at their own game...
*Jess♥ Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 it probably depends on your play style. i have been known to stand and stare at the scenery on occasion.

Calling OA a 4-5 hour content pack should have the people at Bethesda shot... Unless they all suck at their own game... Q: For gamers that are specifically looking to increase their clocked time within the Fallout 3 world, how many more hours will Operation Anchorage, The Pitt and Broken Steel offer to them?Jeff: Operation: Anchorage and The Pitt both offer about four to five hours of gameplay within the quest lines they introduce. They both offer new weapons, armor and perks that the player can then use as they see fit within the game as a whole. The quest line in Broken Steel is about the same length, but we’re also increasing the level cap to 30, as well as amending the main Fallout quest line so the game doesn’t end…. This will allow the player to keep exploring the wasteland for as many hours as they’d like. gameZone.com :-P
*Jess♥ Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 level cap?? oh crap, i reached level 20, does that mean i can't get higher?? that totally sucks... there were some perks i still wanted to get.
*zeo Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 Unless you're playing on a PC, then you can download the mod to unlock all levels. Other than that maxing stats in game isn't really hard, just time consuming... X-Play: Mr. Sark: Fallout 3 Leveling Tips
Matt Bellamy Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 level cap??oh crap, i reached level 20, does that mean i can't get higher?? that totally sucks... there were some perks i still wanted to get. The expansion Broken Steel will raise the cap to 30... but even that has been pushed back a month...
*Jess♥ Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 so I'm wandering the wastes..i told charon to keep his distance and only use melee weapons. I am sneaking along to kill an enemy in front of me.. what happens? charon runs up and shoots it dead. WTF?!?? I am getting so fed up of these friggin' companions...

LOL, if you leaven them somewhere for a certain amount time they go back to where they originally hang out. PS, don't download The Pitt DLC (for PC if that is what you use Fallout 3 on) it still has problems. I can't wait for Broken Steel DLC at the end of this month or early May.
*Jess♥ Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 i got so fed up in the end, I gunned him down. then i reloaded game and i fired him. I wanted a mule, but i guess i'll have to make do without. I'll use caches instead. it'll only take a bit more time. I already got the pitt. I bought them last week. started a new game for operation anchorage since i was saved in the end part of the game and couldn't get out. so now i need to play through a fair bit before i want to go to the pitt. because i suspect the enemies will slaughter me otherwise.. I loved operation anchorage!! it was a definite change of pace. the play style was altered due to the way you had no trash collectables and essentailly had infinite ammo. I found i was playing a much different game and actualy it improved the main game for me since i have now experimented more with explosives, stealth and sniping. i used to play as a tank. heavy power armour and sustained firepower. now i got teh chinese stealth armour and the shocker sword and play as an assassin, it's so awesome!!
guyverfanatic Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 I love the gauss rifle. It's the best weapon in the game! What do you play Fallout 3 on? Xbox 360 or PC? I think The Pitt was fixed for Xbox 360, but ignored us PC gamers.
*Jess♥ Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 I'm playing it on 360. yes, the gauss rifle was so awesome. ammo was very limited that time though. I haven't got it with me after leaving the sim. I am not sure why. I think next time i play, i'll swap the sniper rifle for it. I think I got confused and thought it relied on energy weapon skill and i was waiting for plasma rifle before putting points in it. jingweis shocker sword is awesome though. (combined with 100% sneak and chinese stealth suit) I took out the whole of paradise falls without one shot fired at me!! so what happened on hte pc version? is it a game breaking glitch? or is it just something really annoying?
