My sister's friend is coming over next week for a couple days; not a bad thing, normally, but it's been hot enough this week that I spend most of the day in my underwear, or stripped down to just a shirt. It's too hot to wear pants, is basically what I'm saying.

Fanfiction.Net is stripping out puntuation from my stories; not all of it, though, happily enough, but it's been stripping apostrophies, and elipses, and all of the long dashes I had in my story. I thought it might have been just in that one story, but apparently it's been happening to all of them.

so.. about that fanfiction thing..

it couldn't be to do with font could it?

some characters present in one font but not in another?

I thought that myself, for a bit; but one of my stories was written in Comic Sans, and the other was in Arial, and both of them ended up getting their apostrophies stripped, so I don't think it's that.

I still don't know what it is, though.

no, i don't think it's to do with what font you use...

the font they use may not have the required character.

see... in some word processing application, the program replaces some characters with different characters.

for example, for an apostrophe, on a keyboard, the apostrophe is impossible to type. the key will produce the following ' which is an inch-mark, not an apostrophe. if your word processor is changing it to an apostrophe, it is possible the website does not use a font that has an actual apostrophe.

Ah, that makes sense, then. Maybe that's it.
