People are mistaking technical advantages with smarts. There seems to be a misconception that because kids can run rings around adults on computers, and various and sundry wonderful shiny gadgets that make most adults go 'WTF?', they must be smarter, while in fact, practical knowledge is dwindling away from the youth of today with horrifying speed. This can be easily seen in the tenuous grasp many younger people seem to have on the English language, even when it is supposed to be their mother tongue. Occasionally, reading things these 'young geniuses' have penned is equal to an exercise in mental gymnastics, trying to figure what they mean in relation to what they have written.
Typical example I have seen. 'hi, Im borred at hom with a broken leg. if anyone wants a beta raeder, i will be glad to do it.'
