Here is the first development video of Guyver 01 on the MUGEN engine, just putting the basic idle sprites as well as his jabs, nothing special at the moment, also testing out his size against Goku Z2 made by Balthazar.

I always watch Go-Busters and Wizard every sunday on Jefusion, they are up to episode 49 subbed with busters since yesterday they always seem to have the episodes subbed early, they are probably overtime subs but I also watch them raw since I can more or less understand what they say...most of the time at least, you can go ahead and read the rest of my post since I did not spoil anything and if I mentioned anything is because it was already established a lot of episodes ago.

This weeks episode was very nice and so I have decided that Ryuji is without a doubt my favorite Sentai Ranger ever, he has a great personality, mature and to me he is the real leader of the team, sure Hiromu is awesome and is probably one of the best Reds currently considering all the sacrifices he and his team have made for the good of humanity but Ryuji is still the most developed. Then there is Enter, the best Sentai villain without a doubt, he is so interesting badass that it just baffles me how is it that there are some people that say that this series is boring, different tastes I guess but I just really can't find flaws on this series that would merit such hate aside from 1 or 2 lackluster filler episodes which came at the end. since we are 1 episode away for Go-buster to end I would like to listen to you guy's opinions on the series, did you like it? did you hate it? who is your favorite character?

Alright, I'll give it a look and see what i can do.

Alright, here is a fixed version, let me know what you guys think. Old New

what shape? the orbs?
-
Ok, update time, here is an unfinished animation of The guyver doing his megasmasher, does it look good so far? did I get the orbs color right? should I add a frame or 2? sorry for the delay, I'll upload the finished version later tomorrow. EDIT: my bad, apparently the attachment option does not show the animation so i had to upload through photobucket.

The fighting game Idea is something else I'm making for fun, the game will be a beat-em up to a style similar to final fight or beats of rage, the stage will be sidescrolling so it will definitely be a lot longer than i showed.
-
well since it is a fan game and the story is non-canon I don't see why not, I will have to do some sketches to see how Guyot would look bioboosted, have you seen any fan art around the internet with such a concept? it would help with my design.
-
Bingo, I will probably make him with and without his battle armor for later, I will post more stuff later today, got something you guys will probably like.
-
so animated then? it is not a bad idea, it will take some time tho, I was working on a animated intro for the game and the cutscenes would be In-game meaning that the dialogue and story events would be used using scripted sequences with the sprites. anyways I think it is about time I make another progress report of the game this time one of the stages that i'm working with : the narisawa bridge as well as silhouette for one of the bosses that you will fight, try to guess who. also do you think the stage has decent proportions? would you like to see it at day, at night or both?
-
yeah, it really is a shame, it is like they think children can't take stuff like this, it makes me a bit mad, heck apparently CN will be cancelling Young justice and green lantern both cartoons that had a very good story and mature themes while keeping it entertaining, sometimes I think the American companies are allergic to money.

it heats up while playing street fighter x megaman? @__@ that computer must be very old if it heats up with a game equivalent to an NES.

The purpose of this thread if for anybody to contribute their opinions of what MMO's are great and what to avoid also anybody can ask if X game is worth playing so I'll start cause ever since I watched SOA and Accel world I have been curious on what MMO I should play so here is the requirements for the type of game that I'm looking for: Free to play (I don't have a budget to get a good game with a subscription fee so this is my only choice at the moment) Good character customization with lots of classes and races Not pay to win (meaning if there are micro-transactions they don't make you better than a person who does not pay) good story easy to play with friends good battle system minimum level grinding focusing more on skill not an FPS (don't really like those, you could recommend one but it has to have something unique that would make me want to play it) compatible with average computer specs (I have a laptop with a i3 core processor so I won't be able to play some games that require lots of horsepower) here are my recommendations for MMO's and the ones I'm currently trying: League of legends -an Multiplayer Online Battle Arena game, lots of characters to choose from, good battle system and very competitive, also it has a very nice art style and the graphics don't take much out of your computer. Rating: A- DC universe online - a superhero themed Action based MMO RPG easy to learn, a decent customization system although the classes are something to be desired, can get boring if playing solo the only downside is that there are a lot of restrictions if playing the free to play model. rating: B- Star Trek Online - Same with DC universe only with star trek, you are able to customize your own ship as well as your character, you can also explore a lots of solar systems in true Star Trek fashion . rating: B+

I'm currently indifferent with JJ being the director, I had discussed this with Ryuki before but I might as well share my thoughts here, as most of us I grew up watching the original Star Wars trilogy, heck I still have the last vhs tapes that where released, it had a lot of influence in the way i view movies, heck it is the reason why I love practical effects over CG but after the new trilogy was released I lost interest entirely. Now if JJ is able to remain true to the source material or go beyond it to give us something we have never seen before then more power to him but as it stands I can't give my opinions on this decision since I have not really seen any of his work aside from Armageddon and Star Trek and both movies were so-so in my opinion, not bad but not good either, if he stays as director then I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, the only real gripe I have with him is that he has in his possession the 2 most popular and influential franchises in science fiction, that is a lot of responsibility for one man. EDIT: I just checked my youtube and this video came on my subscriptions update about episode 7, the movie will not be releasing on 2015 and there is also a rumor, watch the video to learn more.

Dang, episode 48 was a amazing, lots of emotion floating around with the current scenario that Enter has set, this has really gotten me exited, I think it will be really hard for Kyoryuger to top Gobusters although I could be wrong.
-
Yes, I suppose if you remove the animal theme it would look like a simpler W although you could say the same thing for most of the showa riders and some heisei riders as well, something reminiscent of a Ancient Egyptian Armor or regalia would be an awesome Idea, preferably more armor than regalia although that is just my personal preference, and perhaps the belt wold work to change different single forms although if you do that you would just be recycling Kuuga and Agito's powers. I can't think of a way to incorporate the Ankh in to the suit without looking too religious which is why I like Ozu's subtle design, it leaves room for different interpretations without jamming in its true design influence, don't get me wrong it could still work but to what extent I don't know.
-
Yes, I do believe they are satisfactorily represented, it is not too complex like Fourze and it is not so vague like Wizard, Perhaps there could be a more effective design although I find it hard to find a way to make it better, from what I have seen from the Megamax riders I think toei wants to boost the popularity of the rider series and bring more audience (specially children) through merchandizing and we can see this specially with fourze cause from a realistic standpoint fourzes may have cool powers but his belt is too impractical but makes for the perfect toy commercial, maybe if they borrowed some design Ideas from his predecessor Super-1 it would have worked better, anyways back to Ozu!!, yes the animals could be present in any other culture but the 3 animals types used for his tatoba combo are the most prominent of the sun deities in old Egyptian mythology, Ra being the most important one then below him we have bastet which from what i have read is the daughter of ra and then finally we have the insect Khepri which is his subordinate, all are sun deities of life and creation and Ozu himself is depicted as a King which uses desire as way to evolve or bring new LIFE as Kogami says in the series. In my opinion your design choices are spot on if you want to keep the general motif of a rider which is traditionally an insect, mostly a grasshopper or a beetle but with the story that they are going which is of the successor of a king to bring life and evolution through desire the choice they made was the right one with choosing Ra instead of Khepri cause Ozu is depicted as a King which Khepri is not, heck he is not even a cult devoted to him, he is only known as a sun deity and Ra's subordinate. Maybe they could have used a different material for the suit to make it look less plastic but considering with all the different suits they made for each form plus the different combinations that he could do I'm pretty sure the budget would have been through the roof if they went that route to make a more appealing suit. Overall, to me the way they made the designs of the suit was great and fitted with the story that they where trying to tell, your Idea of using a Scarab Beetle is a great one but using the script that they did would you just use that design? how would you give importance to the other greed if his design only reflects the greed Uva? that is another dilemma that is worth talking since his main design of changing forms through different animal types that those greed represent gives them a purpose and motivation to go after him. But a good design can only get you so far, to me a story is a lot more important than the look, sure it helps a lot to have a great design but it is useless if you don't bring a good narrative that keeps your audience attention and Ozu has that in spades although that is all a matter of opinion of course.
-
Interesting that you decided to open this discussion with Ozu, this will be fun. I'll try to debate on Ozu's design choices to the best of my abilities since I do believe this series had great designs. Well to start of lets take a look at what you said about using Egyptian influences, the thing is Ozu IS using Egyptian influence although they do it through symbolism, old Egyptian mythology is based on worshiping different deities based on animals Ozu represents this by using symbols of 3 types of animals that are usually worshiped on his breastplate and the animal that goes on the head are based on known Egyptian deities the Taka medal is obviously Ra, the Lion Medal is based on Baset the lioness goddess and finally we have the Kuwagata medal, granted it is not a Scarab beetle but it is a beetle and this represents another Egyptian God called Khepri and interestingly enough all 3 are Sun deities which are associated with life and creation and what does kogami say that desire give? LIFE, other medals associate Egyptian mythology specially the Brakawani combo (Cobra, Turtle and Crocodile) but in my opinion they did a good job choosing the Taka medal as the head for the base form cause RA is probably the most important Deity in Egyptian mythology. Now not all the combos and medals are based on Egyptian mythology cause the putotyrano combo and the Shauta combo animals are not part of that culture, this was probably decided in order to complete the representation of the animal kingdom which we have Avian, Aquatic life, Mammals, Insect, and Extinct or fantasy creatures, i don't know what the deal is with Sagozo tho since the Lion combo is also based on Mammals. Anyways now that I explained about the animal symbolisim I will go with another symbol that Ozu uses in his design which is his are the Core Medal and Cell medal which are representation of what comes out of Yummy (a play on Mummy something that is associated a lot with Egyptian culture) which are monsters created from desire that the Greed create what can be associated with Greed? money Cell medals are Silver and Core Medals are Gold, another thing that Egypt loved to use in their culture. Although it is not part of his suit it is part of his design through symbolism and that is Ankh which is the symbol of eternal life if I'm not mistaken and the Egyptian gods are often depicted carrying an Ankh. You are right about the bas relief since that is also part of Ancient Egyptian art but I think they are also using sunk relief. It is a shame that they did not put a Scarab beetle instead of a Kuwagata but that may be due to them wanting to keep a familiar aspect of Japanese culture in ozu's design for their main audience since if I'm not mistaken Kuwagata Beetles are famous in Japanese culture.

upcoming series Kamen Rider Wizard - september 2012
odin replied to Jess♥'s topic in Japanese Entertainment
Yea, I do agree that it would have been nice to add some fur and not make it so shinny cause Wiseman says that he is an "Ancient Wizard" maybe give him a bronze color instead of gold? but considering that Beast uses powers from other animals such as a Dolphin and a Hawk so I don't know how that would have worked, I'm actually satisfied with his design aside from his helmet which looks an awful lot like Ozu's Ratorata combo helmet only without the spikes. I don't know if you have seen the episodes he is in but his in but the story he is trying to tell is told by making him always have the belt on since it is always consuming his mana and if he does not devour phantoms mana through his belt he will eventually die which is interesting for a Megamax era Rider. Also while I do agree that the Megamax era Riders (that is what I call the riders from W to Wizard since they officially joined forces during that movie) have not had the best designs they do at least convey the theme that they are portraying, I really don't know in what other way you could have made Fourze without making him look like Super-1 which is also a space theme rider and to me Ozu has one of the best designs of the franchise that is kept in the realm of simplicity, sure it is no Faiz or Kabuto but it is still a great design and tells its story great and not all the ones from faiz through decade did that, take for example Hibiki, I did not know that the theme was about Ogres and Music of all things until I read the summary. Overall what I'm trying to say is that they are not all bad, at least in my opinion of course since we all have different tastes I can agree that Wizard is the series that looks less like a Rider series aside from Hibiki. -
Here is something different, this is something I used to do when I was very little, my mother could not always get me toys but I did not let stuff like money get in the way of me having fun so what did I do? make my own toys of course!! just buy a little box paper fasteners, get some cardboard, start drawing, cut it out make some holes for the parts that I want to move and presto!! my very own toy on the budget of 1 dollar, it really brings me smiling with nostalgia the power of imagination is limitless as long as you don't say you can't do it. just thought id share with you guys something from my childhood, hope you guys like it, I will probably do a more advanced toy with cardboard just for fun in the future.

upcoming series Kamen Rider Wizard - september 2012

I know but ever since decade the world of each hesei series was merged meaning that after W and all the events on the movies where probably well known throughout japan at least so it seems weird that he doesn't know what a Rider is even tho he never addressed himself as one. about that mysterious phantom, my guess he is working with wiseman, probably his strongest phantom I still doubt that they would work alongside Foundation X although I could be wrong. -

Yea, I really like Beast's design, his character is a bit silly but his motivations are 100 times more interesting than wizard BUT I still stand that the series is a bit lackluster and part of it is due to the supporting cast being uninteresting also...I don't know why but it does not feel like a rider series, even the fourze movie when gentaro asks if he is a Kamen Rider he automatically asks what is that as if he has never heard of one and this is from a canonical world where riders are well known and meet from time to time, honestly the only thing that is actually keeping me from not watching this series entirely is because of Foundation X which have been plotting in the shadows on every rider series since W, I am expecting them to appear on this season as well but don't expect them to do much since wiseman does not seem like the type to get help from other organizations, I just hope the stakes are raised soon cause this is getting pretty boring wizard winning every single time, it just diminishes the villains credibility and makes them seem like a joke. -
