Again, skip Kingdom of Monsters but check out everything else. Kingdom of Monsters got much worse once Victor Santos took over for the artwork. Which dvd was this? The Sony/Tristar one? If you're getting the Sony/Tristar dvds, then stay far far away from the Godzilla vs Megaguirus dvd. I dunno what went through their heads when they worked on that dvd. They messed up the picture quality so much that you can see the strings on the Megaguirus prop way too easily, especially during the night scenes. No prob.

Ah GMK, the fan favorite (usually) of the Millenium Series. I loved Godzilla and Baragon's suits in this movie. The Godzilla vs Baragon battle was fantastic and I enjoyed Godzilla battling the military. Didn't care for Waspthra or King Ghidorah though. It would've been interesting if Toho had allowed Kaneko do the movie the way he intended it to be (Originally, it was gonna be Anguirus, Varan, and Baragon but Toho wanted some popular monsters besides Godzilla to help boost ticket sales and stuff so they made him replace Angy and Varan with Mothra and King Ghidorah.) Eh, the only other time Ghidorah could be considered a "hero" was in Godzilla vs King Ghidorah after he was turned into Mecha King Ghidorah and even so, he was being controlled by people, so he wasn't doing it of his own free will. There's been talks of a possible Region 1 dvd release, but who knows if it'll actually happen. I heard that Quentin Tarantino tried to get Miramax to release it on DVD once though. Godzilla vs Megalon is finally getting a dvd release in August (I think, plus the release date might on us...again) but it'll be a barebones release (in other words, no special features, just the film). I'm just gonna wait til the special edition comes out, unless the company that's making the Megalon dvd goes bankrupt or something. So has anybody read any of IDW's Godzilla comics yet? Kingdom of Monsters sucked, but Godzilla: Legends was awesome and so was Gangsters and Goliaths. Let's just hope the new ongoing series and next mini-series are great too.

That's why I stopped theorizing about Apollyon's identity. So many theories with so many flaws in them all. Buuut, I'm gonna break my rule just this once. I think Apollyon is probably is a "Super Zoalord" created by the Creators to replace the "Old Guard" so to speak. Maybe the Advent/Creators/Uranus/whatever found out about the fate of Earth after the ship at Relic's Point reactivated. Since Sho's mind interlinked with the Relic, maybe the Relic and the Creators learned about Chronos, the Zoanoids, Zoalords, etc. After they learned everything, they sent Apollyon to spy on them, collect zoacrystals, and confuse the hell out of the readers about who he/she/it is. It would explain why Apollyon is aware of the Segawas. As for why he's collecting Zoacrystals, perhaps they want to create a new weapon or more "Super Zoalords" with them. This still doesn't explain Archy's power up though, I think Imakarum gave Archy a portion of his newfound power to help delay Archanfel's condition and Takaya did this just to make us think that Imakarum is Apollyon. I know my theory has some flaws, but oh well. I kinda like it though.
-
Actually I wasn't disappointed with the Exceed but considering I was a longtime Ultraman/Godzilla fan, that would probably explain why.
-
I agree that Imakarum is probably a red herring. To me, it seems way too obvious that its him and if he turns out to be Apollyon, then I'm gonna be a bit disappointed. That's all I'm gonna say on Apollyon's identity because this mystery makes my head hurt trying to figure everything out. I've seen things for and against all of the main theories we've come up with for Apollyon. I do think that we're gonna find out who Apollyon is real soon or at the very least get some more clues.

I doubt that Val will die so soon. We still barely know a thing about her but then again, we didn't know much about Li Yentsui and Caerleon and look at them. I wouldn't be surprised if the Guyver Gang captures Val and interrogates which will lead us into knowing her background (Who she is, why she was working for Guyot, etc). Apollon showing up at the mansion was a bit of a surprise, I was expecting him to pop up at the Traitor's base. I'm interested in finding out what he says to Guyot.

The cover intrigues me, does this mean we're gonna get a Sho/Agito chapter this time?

Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla (1974) is my favorite Godzilla movie. The music is great, Showa Mechagodzilla is badass, the fights were great, and all in all it was a decent Godzilla movie.

Tsuburaya only did the special effects for the first 9 or 10 Godzilla movies but he was the creator of the Ultraman series. Heck, alot of the suits in the early Ultra shows were modified suits from Godzilla movies. The Baragon suit was heavily used for a lot of monsters like Neronga, Magura, and so on. Heck, one of the monsters was pretty much Godzilla but with a frill attached. Actually, there's quite a few popular ultra monsters such as Gomora, Baltan, Zetton, Red King, Eleking, Pygmon, Goldras, Silvergon, King Joe, and then there's the Ultras themselves. Ultraseven is one of the most popular Ultras out there and I'd say he's probably even more popular than the original Ultraman. Personally, I wish Toho would let Tsuburaya studios create Godzilla films or at least do the fight scenes for them. They still know how to make quality monster fights unlike Toho. I'll use these as my examples: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xcug11_gomora-vs-fire-golza_shortfilms http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xdfdg6_gomora-litra-and-eleking-vs-zetton_shortfilms Oh and there's been some duds in the Godzilla series. The King Ghidorah and Rodan suits were looking pretty rough during the later Showa films and the Heisei Godzilla suit was literally falling apart in Godzilla vs Spacegodzilla. The flying props for many of the Heisei kaiju were pretty terrible as well. As for creature design, GMK King Ghidorah looked pretty ugly and Orga was a very bland monster. Overall, I'd say that Godzilla kaiju tend to have more detailed designs compared to the Ultraman monsters. Also, apparently David Goyer stopped working on the Superman reboot to work on Godzilla and that pissed off some Superman fans from what I hear.

I still regret buying Final Wars. The movie was a massive disappointment to me and not even the few positive things about this movie can redeem it. The pros for Final Wars: -Don Frye. His acting was so hilarious to watch. Easily my favorite actor in the movie. -Some of the redesigns were good. -Godzilla vs Zilla fight -All of the nods to some of the movies like Gorath. Cons: -The plot ripped off things from so many American movies its not even funny. -They try cramming so many things and barely explain some of it. -The some of the redesigns were pretty crappy like Kumonga's, King Caesar's, etc. -Monster X, though interesting, looks like he belongs in Ultraman rather than Godzilla. -Some of the suits like the Anguirus and Kaiser Ghidorah suit looked absolutely terrible. -For his 50th anniversary movie, Godzilla is only in the movie for like 10 minutes. You'd think he'd be in the movie a helluva lot more than that. -Hedorah gets offed in just a few seconds. One of Godzilla's most dangerous opponents and one of the few to even come close to killing him barely makes an appearance and gets killed as if he was chump. They would've been better off leaving him out of the film. -The fights are short (I'm fine with G vs Zilla being short, the others not so much) and not very entertaining. -There was practically no character development at all. Godzilla certainly deserved a better 50th anniversary movie than Final Wars. Also, Destroy All Monsters and Godzilla vs Megalon are being released on DVD and Blu Ray by Media Blasters: http://www.dreadcentral.com/news/45621/more-godzilla-vs-megalon-and-destroy-all-monsters-blu-ray

That's because it and it's children were more or less Jurassic Park rip offs. I hated GINO, but I loved the cartoon series that it spawned. I was so disappointed in the remake, even when I saw it in the theaters as a little kid. Godzilla is suppose to be nigh unstoppable juggernaut. GINO was simply a pest. I could go on and on on why I think the 98 remake was terrible, but I won't. The directors still get bitched out about their remake even today. I'm almost certain that Legendary Pictures will do a much better job than Tristar's abomination. As for Goyer writing, I'm actually surprised that they got one of the writers of the new Batman movies to write it. I know that for a while LP was wanting Guillermo Del Toro to write it or maybe it was directing it but he said no and is doing his own monster movie, Pacific Rim. On a side note, when I first heard that Goyer was writing this movie, I couldn't help but think of this: I have faith in Legendary Pictures that they'll do a decent Godzilla remake, they certainly can't do worse than Tristar's attempt. I doubt it'll be an oscar winning movie or anything, but I think it'll do ok at the box office and with critics.

No, it doesn't really add much to the Gundam mythos. It just spits out alot of the same old stuff we've seen already like the giant laser cannon of doom, the attack of a neutral colony, Gundam jacking, the friendly desert ace pilot thats on the opposite side of the protagonists, etc. As for the faults of the SEED series, well where to start? -It uses alot of stock footage -There's too many clip shows. Yes, alot of the Gundam series have a clip show or two but the SEED series had way too many of them. -Piss poor writing, especially in Destiny. -The first half of SEED was practically a remake of the first MSG, which made the show rather predictable for a while. Again, bad writing here. -Kira "Jesus" Yamato is a whiny protagonist and an awful one at that. -Deus Ex Machina and plot armor galore! -As mentioned earlier, it spits out alot of stuff we've already seen in various Gundam shows without trying to bring anything new to the table. - The mechas weren't that original, especially in Destiny as they were just revamped versions of Zeon's old mobile suits like the Gouf and Zaku II. And what the hell is it with them giving the Gundams insanely huge backpacks? -SEED Destiny had the worst final episode for a Gundam series. -In Destiny they brought back a character that died in SEED despite the fact that there was literally no way he could have survived it. This helps go back to my point that the writing to the SEED series was awful. But yeah, stay far away from SEED. -

00 Gundam shown alot of potential at being a great Gundam series during the first season, but I felt that they wasted it in season two and the movie. I'd still recommend though especially if you don't like watching older anime. To be honest I almost shedded a man tear near the end of season one. Not gonna say why. Just skip the SEED series as it was awful in my opinion. Turn A Gundam and Gundam X are both good. Gundam Wing is alright, its not the best Gundam series but its a decent one and I would definitely show it to a guy thats getting into the series. G Gundam is just fun, fun, fun. I'm not a huge fan of the Super Robot genre, but this is an exception for me. It was essentially Street Fighter with giant robots. Plus, the show gave birth to two of the most badass Gundam characters of all time...Master Asia and Schwartz Bruder. I probably wouldn't recommend it for a new Gundam fan though since this was so different from the rest of the other Gundam shows. The UC Gundam series are highly recommend if you don't mind watching older anime. -
Toho already made a CGI Godzilla: Personally, I'd be fine with motion capturing since we get the movements of a suit actor and the flashiness of CGI. It would appeal to both CGI and suitmation fans.

Mirabilis, I revealed that a year ago: Oh and I finally remembered to post this, but we do have some concept art work of Godzilla (neither one of is being used though): I'd be fine with the first one, its okay but not the greatest of them all. The second Godzilla design reminds of GINO and all of the raptorizations of Godzilla monsters that have been popping up in fanarts throughout the years. I don't want Godzilla to look like a supersized Jurassic Park reject again.

No, its not an art contest. They randomly select 3 people who entered the contest and those 3 will win the comics. Bobby- I doubt they can do that since I believe there were a few disputes over who owned the rights to some of these films in America. Have you noticed that we haven't gotten legit DVD releases of Godzilla vs Megalon, Godzilla 1984, and Godzilla vs Biollante yet? I know that there was a petition to get Biollante released on DVD a while back, but that didn't work. Maybe with the new comic and movie, we can finally get at least one of these on DVD (If we get any of those three, I'm betting Biollante will be one of them). If we do get any Godzilla marathons, they'll probably show some of the later ones like Godzilla vs Megaguirus, GMK, Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla II, etc. Edit- Forgot to mention something else. Matt Frank (known for his Godzilla NEO fanart at Deviantart) has shown everybody on Tohokingdom the alternate cover he did for Issue 5 and guess who's on the cover: http://www.tohokingdom.com/news/2011/03-29_godzilla5_idw_mattfrank.html Edit: It turns out that Godzilla vs Megalon isn't coming out.

The part with Godzilla eating the kids kinda bugs me. From the sound of it, it seems like it was just a cheap shock tactic. Yeah, Godzilla does kill people but if you're gonna show him killing people then at least show some build up to it or something. Oh and if any of you guys want the comic for free, Sci Fi Japan is doing a contest where you can win the Issue #1 sets. So if you guys want to get it for free, then enter it and you may just win: http://www.scifijapan.com/articles/2011/03/30/win-godzilla-kingdom-of-monsters-issue-1-sets/

There's already reviews for the first issue and I have to say...I'm not impressed with this comic. I think I'm gonna hold off and see if the second issue gets good reviews or not before I consider buying the first two issues. http://www.tohokingdom.com/comics/idw_godzilla_kom_01.htm http://www.tohokingdom.com/articles/editorial/03-29_gkom1_review.htm

Just a heads up, the first issue of the IDW Godzilla comic series now known as Kingdom of Monsters will be coming to comic stores on March 30. Also, there will be a miniseries called Gangsters and Goliaths about a detective who gets captured by the yakuza and they drop him off on Monster Island. Not only does he have to face the Yakuza there, but he will have fend himself against the kaijuu living there as well. http://www.tohokingdom.com/news/2011/02-22_godzilla_idw_sum.html http://www.tohokingdom.com/news/2011/03-18_godzilla4_idw.html

I heard its because Saban wanted the show to start off with great ratings and started off with this episode instead (This one got more than 2 million views, so thats a good thing). It seems that they're plan worked, though I wonder how they're gonna show the episodes now considering they messed up the order. I liked the violence in this episode considering we saw the monster's arm get cut off, I don't really recall the megazord/monster battles doing stuff like that when Disney was in control of PR. I'll be ready to watch the next episode.

Found out that Bulk is gonna be in the show: http://uk.tv.ign.com/articles/114/1145326p1.html Man, this show is looking to be better and better everytime I see new info about it. XD

Apparently, Timur Bekmambetov (Nightwatch, Daywatch, Wanted, and he was the producer in 9) might be helping on writing the story for the new Godzilla reboot/remake/whatever: http://www.coventrytelegraph.net/news/north-warwickshire-news/2011/01/12/nuneaton-film-director-could-be-offered-hollywood-blockbuster-deal-92746-27970150/ Edit: The news about Timur helping write the new Godzilla remake is confirmed to be messup. He and Edwards are working together on a new sci-fi film, just not this movie.

Got another update, the director for Legendary Picture's Godzilla remake is revealed to be Gareth Edwards of Monsters fame: http://www.tohokingdom.com/news/2011/01-04_godzilla2012_director.html To be perfectly honest, I'd rather have somebody else rather than this guy. Despite Monsters winning a few awards, I have heard several people complain about the movie. I haven't seen Monsters yet, though a friend of mine showed me a clip of it and honestly I wasn't overly impressed with it so I'm a little bit worried about this remake. I think that this movie has been the only one he's made so far as well so if the Godzilla remake fails, then it'll be over for this guy's career which would be a shame. I'd kinda prefer somebody has more experience in filmmaking. I do know that Tim Burton, Tarantino, Spielberg, and John Carpenter are Godzilla fans, I'd kinda wish that one of them would've taken the job. I have heard that Burton is directing an adaptation of the board game Monsterpocalypse, so that does have excite me a little bit.

http://ryalltime.wordpress.com/2010/12/27/godzillas-kingdom-of-monsters/ I found some new info about the comic. Godzilla's look in the comic has been finally revealed and the title of the comic is now Kingdom of Monsters instead of Monster World. Personally, I'm glad about the name change. Sounds so much better than Monster World. As for Godzilla's design, it's ok, I really don't like his snout though. It looks dog-like. Other than that, it looks good.
