Legendary has already said that Godzilla is fighting original monsters in this movie. So yeah, we're not gonna see Mothra, Kamacuras, etc.

Here's a description of the new teaser for Godzilla shown at comic con: We’re introduced to characters first off: Cranston seems to be an engineer/investigator of some sort — we see him in hazmat gear, and later running towards a crisis event in a government installation as the rest of the staff frantically runs away. Aaron Taylor Johnson is a soldier; Ken Watanabe is seen in a control room of some kind, and Olsen is shown in moments that suggest she’s been a victim of some disaster, she is a Nurse and a mother in the film while being a refugee of sorts, as we see her as she reunites with a young girl in a sports stadium that has been converted into a shelter.. A montage of various images shows a world in crisis and deploying military forces to fight some crisis moment. And then there’s the kaiju attack. The first monster we see is a spindly-legged insectoid thing — is this Mothra? Didn’t quite look like it, but that’s possible. The monster is attacking an airport, and there’s a great wide shot that sees the kaiju destroying a plane, which leads to an explosion the camera follows by panning across a huge set of windows, looking out from inside the airport terminal. Part of the plane’s destroyed fuselage flies right to left across the screen, and is eventually stopped as it crashes into a giant foot. That’s the intro for Godzilla, and the creature dwarfs the other kaiju. Few shots really show Godzilla, but the scale is very effectively communicated by the relationship between the insectoid monster and our favorite lizard. The overall effect could be described — and this isn’t a literal account of the footage, but an impression of its effect — like a slow pan up from the faces of the various human characters stuck in the middle of a monster-created mess, passing a smaller beast and finally trying to focus on the father of it all, Godzilla, hidden in fire and smoke. Now, I have heard other descriptions of this bug monster. One mentioned it being a hybrid of the Cloverfield monster and a spider, another being a giant mantis-like kaiju, etc.

^There's also a phone app. There's also statues of Godzilla shown at the Comic Con area for LPG. Nobody knows for sure if they are the final design or not. Oh and they finished filming in Hawaii recently. So they're pretty much done filming the movie entirely, now they just have to do stuff like finishing up the CGI models, other special effects stuff, soundtrack, reshoots, ADR, etc. The multiple monsters thing has been known for quite a long time. Nobody knows what monsters he's facing though. I doubt they're gonna use any familiar faces, especially since they'd have to pay Toho for the rights of those monsters as well.

A new Ultraman mini series has been announced. Ginga is a part of Shin Ultraman Retsuden (an Ultraman clip show). Some episodes of SHR will be clip shows while others will be about Ginga. http://henshinjustice.com/2013/04/12/ultraman-ginga-press-conference-video/ And this is supposedly a new Baltan that shows up in Ginga's series: I love Ginga's design and Baltan's design. I wonder if this Baltan is suppose to be an updated Mecha Baltan from Andro Melos, a more cybernetic Baltan, or something else. Although I wish this was a full blown series instead of a mini series, I am still excited for this.

That rumor was proven false. Several staff members including one of the producers and the director have said that Godzilla is going to be all CGI. Plus, that concept art image has been floating around for a while now, it is actually concept art of Godzilla for Godzilla 2000. If you're wanting reliable info about LPG, go to the Tohokingdom forums. We usually debunk a lot of these rumors.

Personally, I can see Shin straying from Chronos briefly if only to get revenge for Purgy's death.

GARO: The One Who Shines In The Darkness
Purgstall replied to odin's topic in Japanese Entertainment
Don't forget that Jabi and Rekka are also getting their own Gaiden. Personally, I'm getting pumped about all of this. -
The blu ray for it is pretty cheap as well. It's only like 3 or 5 bucks more. Depending on how lucky you are, there are certain copies of it that have special features that weren't suppose to be put on there due to legal issues, I think. Either way, it's a good buy. Godzilla vs Biollante is probably the best of the Heisei Godzilla films and certainly one of the better ones we've had in recent years.Oh and filming for Legendary Picture's Godzilla reboot started recently up in Canada. The fact that Bryan Cranston is in the movie gives me hope for this. There's been quite a few set pics, mostly stuff like guys in military outfits, destroyed vehicles, army vehicles, etc. I'm interested in seeing Godzilla's design in the movie as well as the designs of the other monsters in the movie.

Gamera the Invincible is indeed the first movie. Gamera vs Viras is the fourth movie in the Showa Gamera series and Gamera vs Guiron is the fifth movie. The first movie has a Japanese Colonel Sanders. XD Gamera vs Viras was just bad. Guiron is good in a "it's so bad that it's funny" way. I liked Gamera vs Barugon and Gamera vs Gyaos and I do kinda like Jiger if only for the fact that we actually get to see Gamera's insides ala Fantastic Voyage. Super Monster Gamera is mostly stock footage so you can pretty much skip that if you want (I recommend skipping it because the new footage is pretty lousy).

Gamera the Brave isn't connected to the Heisei Gamera movies. It is a standalone movie. Ryuki, I dunno if the Heisei Gamera trilogy is something you'd want to watch. Each film gets darker. All of the Gamera films are kinda violent and gory. Showa Gyaos loses a leg, Space Gyaos lost a leg too, Gamera bleeds profusely, people get eaten, etc. If you're wanting something more lighthearted, go with Ultraman Mebius or Ultraman Max. Those are probably more up your alley.

Well, he did lose his connection to humanity in Gamera 2 (hence all of those beads breaking), so whenever he fought the Gyaos in Shibuya, he didn't really try to keep human casualties to a minimum. Considering the fact that he slaughtered hundreds of human beings and destroyed quite a few buildings destroying those Gyaos, hell yeah the army certainly has a valid reason for attacking Gamera. Yeah, Gamera was saving us from the Gyaos, but at the rate he was going, he'll probably end up destroying things faster than the Gyaos were. Not to mention the government was certainly gonna be under pressure by the friends and families of all those people who died from Gamera's fights with the Gyaos. Yeah, a lot of people enjoyed Shusuke Kaneko's monster flicks (the Gamera trilogy, GMK, two of the Live Action Death Note movies).

You got your eras mixed up. Ghidorah, the Three-Headed Monster is in the Showa series of Godzilla films while Godzilla vs Biollante is in the Heisei series. GMK is the only movie where he actually wants attacks Japan though. All of the other movies either have him under alien control (DAM, Godzilla vs Monster Zero), attracted to an energy source (Return of Godzilla and Godzilla X Megaguirus), or just wondering around Japan like a wild animal and destroys stuff by accident/in his way (There's way too many examples). As for Ghidorah being a good guy in GMK, it does bug me but at least he is still Godzilla's nemesis.

The Heisei Gamera trilogy are typically considered as some of the best giant monster movies ever made and for 9 bucks on blu ray, it is a steal. I highly recommend it for any kaiju fans. Gamera 3 has some impressive CGI that holds up pretty well even today and that movie came out back in 1999! Gamera 3 has some great parts to it but I find it to be a pretty overrated movie. There's a lot of things that they leave to speculation, which is what kinda bugged me. I didn't mind some of it, but at times it just felt like sloppy writing to me. Gamera 2, I just couldn't get into but I didn't think it was a bad movie at all. Legion (the main villain of Gamera 2) has a very bizarre and alien design which really works. Not to mention it is a very interesting creature, I would've loved to learn more about it. Then Gamera: Guardian of the Universe is a pretty solid kaiju flick. I don't remember what problems I had with it though other than the eyes for some of the Gyaos puppets looked goofy. Gamera the Brave is a pretty solid film, the main complaint that I and several other fans have with it is that they replaced Gamera's typical roar with some stock footage roars, which is bizarre. The Showa Gamera series is ok, a lot of the movies are hit or miss though.

Yeah, I never really understood why people kept connecting Pacific Rim with EVA. Anywho, Guillermo Del Toro is directing this baby and the man rarely ever makes a crappy movie (Mimic was crap, though that was because of Studio interference). So I'm feeling pretty confident that this movie will kick ass.

upcoming series Kamen Rider Wizard - september 2012
Purgstall replied to Jess♥'s topic in Japanese Entertainment
My problem with Wizard is that it feels like nothing is at stake here. I'd like to see Haruto fail to stop one of the Phantoms from making the Gate fall into despair and the Phantom takes over. Its kinda dark, I know, but I feel that it would help Haruto develop as a character. Oh and Shunpei annoys the piss outta me. The rest of the supporting cast are ok with me (not terrible, but not spectacular either). -
Yup. Currently the only Godzilla movie that hasn't gotten a region 1 dvd release is Godzilla 1985/Return of Godzilla. There were plans for it, but if I recall correctly Toho wasn't quite sure who still holds the rights to the movie in the US. I hope this situation is resolved soon. Has anybody been keeping tabs with IDW's Godzilla comics? Kingdom of Monsters sucked, but Gangsters and Goliaths, Godzilla Legends and the Half Century War have all been pretty solid so far. The current ongoing series has its moments, certainly better than Kingdom of Monsters but it isn't as good as some of the mini series like Legends and Gangsters. Since nobody has mentioned this yet, writing for the Legendary Pictures Godzilla movie is pretty much done. Filming starts in March, I think. They've already started some casting. No big names so far (doesn't surprise me). While I'm still keeping my eye on this, I'm kinda more focused with Pacific Rim at the moment. Its shaping up to quite a movie.

Yeah this is workable for me.

I think it depends on how you're calling them like if we were doing a group video call then we would get charged. Me, and 3 other people did a podcast about a year ago through skype and we didn't get charged. We did it where we could only hear each other's voices but couldn't see each other.
-
Well, you guys can always go on without me. Plus, I may able to do it this thursday, I'm just not certain if I can or not this week at the moment.
-
Just a heads up, I may or may not be able to attend the session on this thursday. Thursday is the day I'm heading back home after college and I dunno how long it'll take me to get everything put and get my laptop connected to my house's internet connection. Then I gotta make sure that the setup for my headset and skype are ok. For some reason it keeps changing the settings on stuff like hearing, talking, etc. <.<
-
I knew we were gonna do it on thursdays, I just didn't expect us to start this soon. I thought we were gonna start in like a week or two. <.<
-
My time zone is central standard time, so spleach is just an hour ahead of me (if its 10:00 pm here, then its 11:00 pm there). Oh and I accepted all of your requests.
-
Oh, my skype name is Draglord90, just realized I forgot to mention that.
-
Thursday is good for me. About how long are these podcasts gonna be usually?
-
I'd be willing to do this. One problem I could see with this is figuring out a good time for everybody to do this. We'd also have to figure out how long we want the podcasts to be. Then we need a person to record our sessions.
