Literally. I rewatched Guyver(1991) and he comes off like a hot head at the beginning of the movie. He's got a short fuse and he's a bit immature.

He's learning some form of martial arts and he literally can't spar. He's easily distracted, and often he's told to pay attention.

So this Asian guy knocks him in the nose. Not to be a jerk, but to get his attention. Sean falls, down yells that he wasn't ready. Well, when you're in a real fight, you have to have an open mind that your opponent isn't going to give you the time of day. That's what Sean didn't get at the time. So, Sean...being a dick. Assaults the Asian guy only later for his teacher to tell him that he won't learn anything if he keeps relying on his emotions....seeing as Sean is very sensitive.

Later his bike quits working and a gang member....probably just being nice was wanting to help him. What does Sean do? He gets really rude and picks a fight  with the guy only for the guy to call out his buddies and start beating the drenn out of him. In coincidence, the Asian guy is there that Sean assaulted, who happily finishes what Sean starts only for Sean to accidentally become a Guyver, who than puts them all in the hospital.

Did anyone think Sean was kind of a hot headed jerk at the beginning of the film?

Oh yes. Which is a pretty big flaw of the movie I'd say.

Making your main character unlikable can work, but honestly bad acting and poor script really just made him crap, and brings down the movie even more.

Now, it worked well for us in terms of Fanfiction, but for a movie's main character... Not so much.

Sure, in Dark Hero he was still troubled, but had gotten over the dickishness of the first movie's character

In the second movie. Do you think Sean was living off of the criminals he killed? You know, killing them and taking their stolen money for the need to eat and pay rent?

I think, maybe he was using their blood money to get by in society...or for sure. He didn't have a job. So perhaps he made a living off of being a vigilante. That would make more sense taking down a person who robbed a bank, kicking 8 shades of crap out of them and than taking what they stole for yourself.

Don't think so, mind that his source of income in the first movie was never explained either... While he wasn't exactly living it up in the apartment he was shown in the second film.  Could be he was working, there's lots of low wage jobs you can get and eck out a low income living... Some don't even ask who you are...

Though, one motivation he could have had of doing so would be to stay off the grid but Kronos apparently didn't know who he was as the identity of the host of the Guyver wasn't passed on before Kronos LA was destroyed.  But, if he was paranoid then that could have been a valid reason for him to take money off criminals but the only scene we're shown is of him stopping criminals and not taking their stash... Short of him completing the crime himself, over the dead guard and everything, it doesn't appear he did that...Besides, he had next to no money when he met Cori...

Like in the other topic, poor script, bad acting and bad directing. He came off as directionless, hothead and down on his luck type of character. Maybe they wanted some of that but it came off as bad.

Personally when it came to the first movie, that wasnf as bad as the bad comedy, and bad soundtrack and bad acting.

Always wanted to see a proper Guyver movie with good actors and a good script with a decent budget. Seeing how Deadpool accomplished on nowadays a shoestring budget, if wouldnot break the bank so to speak.
