Someone recently ask me this question over at Game Stop. They asked me if I've ever broken a game out of anger and frustration. Of course I replied " No"

 

 

So the story goes that I got into this conversation with this guy over certain games like Prototype or Modern Warfare. He said that he was so irritated while playing Halo that he swiftly grabbed the game out of his X-Box and busted it in two. He went into a lot of detail, that and he described how smashed his X-Box 360 on the floor. This guy was in his mid 20's. I felt this person had anger issues or was just careless with their things. 

 

I didn't really give him my honest opinion about it as I found the discussion....awkward?

 

I was thinking while he was describing this to me that it seemed that he could have just sold it, traded it in, or gave it to someone who could have enjoyed that game or wanted it. I don't see it reasonable to break a game.

 

I even notice parents make their kids break their consoles or take them away and throw them out. Just seems like a huge waste of money.

 

 

Does breaking the game some how invoke relief or give the person the feeling that they are punishing the game? Or how does this work?

 

 

 

 

I have cracked a 360 controller out of anger. On a little part and it never affected the controller at all. Threw it down a bit too hard and hit my table.

 

Never a game though.

 

But anger issues are another matter entirely of course. But to get up, eject a disk, and then break it? If this was a court room, that wouldn't be considered accidental. They'd need to go get some professional help.

I broke my PSone once for playing too much of it.  I actually own 2 PSone.  My first one was so broken beyond repair that I had to buy a new one.
