Yes. Its true. Its painfully true. We're getting yet another Spider-Man reboot. I'm saying no to this. In fact, I'm pissed. I hope this movie floors and gets bad reviews. As much as I like Marvel, I think they're in need of a serious lesson. Go with what you have already. Seriously. I'm not kidding. They've been redoing these for a decade. We've seen Peter Parker in high school in two different movie series. In fact, the new reboot series didn't even get a trilogy. In fact, the 3rd film is still in the works and sure....lets reboot it too while we're at it. Are they friggin kidding?

Anyways. I found this article on IGN. Joy. This is real kick in the balls to read this.

Back in March, it seemed like Drew Goddard was a lock to write and direct Marvel's standalone Spider-Man movie, but that may no longer be the case anymore.

According to Deadline, the studio has a new batch of frontrunners to helm the picture, tentatively called Spider-Man: The New Avenger. Those directors include Jonathan Levine (50/50, Warm Bodies), Ted Melfi (St. Vincent), Jason Moore (Pitch Perfect), John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein (Vacation), and Jared Hess (Napoleon Dynamite, Nacho Libre). The site also notes that Marvel wants the movie to have a "John Hughes"-like tone -- but, you know, with "superhero stuff."

Meanwhile, the search continues for someone to play Peter Parker, although it seems like it's down to Asa Butterfield and a handful of other actors.

The standalone Spider-Man movie is due out July 28, 2017.

I'm voting no. This is stupid. Good luck with this Marvel. I'm not watching another redo.

It's not an origin story thank God but I'm more peeved that they've chosen to do Peter Parker at high school.

I always preferred college Peter and some 15 year old making wise cracks at adults is just going to really irritate me.

This has been known for a while now, and really was inevitable when Marvel and Sony announced the plan officially.

I have faith that Marvel will do a decent job on it. They pretty much have creative control over it, and have not failed to entertain so far.

And while I have no problem with them starting out with an actual teenager... You have to remember... BOTH previous Spider-Man franchises had them in high school to start. This is nothing new. Only this time, they are hiring a more age appropriate actor, not an adult who looks young(ish), and will probably focus a bit more on the actual school/Spider-man issues, rather than just be a setting for a scene or two. Plus, if you look at the actor they mentioned, Asa Butterfield, he is already 18 years old, so if they make him slightly younger, by the second or third movie (because you know they will) he will be "Collage Peter".

And while Sony is still continuing with their Sinester Six movie, this is probably the best for ol Web Head. Even if we have to put up with another reboot.

Plus, the current rumors are that it will not be an origin movie, and that Spidey will already be established, since he will be appearing in Captain America: Civil War. We might just get a flashback to the origin, and move on with the plot.

I don't mind if they just come up with good stories.

I like capta and thor and ironman, so to see spiderman with those guys would be pretty wierd and interesting.

spiderman sort of seemed separate to me, like he wasn't a marvel. now it will seem like he is a marvel. it'll be cool. I don't really care if he is in school, because we didn't see spidey in school. only some odd scenes like Matt said.

as long as they don't have crap story like past films, it's ok. also the idea that he can pop in on tony and steve and thor, this sound awesome. I mean, amazing. :P

I don't really feel like it's a 'reboot', I feel like spidey is weaving himself into the web of the marvel universe :D  it is all new, but it isn't a case of "we suck, let's try again".
