The first time i saw guyver, my older brother was in the marines at the time and he came back on holiday(vacation) with a VHS called ''Guyver - Dark Hero'', ever since i watched that movie ive been hooked. Guyvers been a huge part of my life ever since i was little.
Then me and him starting watching all the manga series on VHS.

The cover design was so good, and that instead of episodes they were called ''data''

''data 1 - 4'' etc.

But that scene in dark hero where the guyver is connecting with the ship and crane orders his two zoanoids to get him, next thing, two zoanoids come flying out the entrance flips n drenn, and guyver does an epic walk out. Most epic entrance EVAR!!!!

Nice thread!

Let me see... I was in high school when the original OVA series was first licensed and released in the UK. (Can't remember the exact year, maybe 1993?)

Manga Video Entertainment already had me hooked on their releases with the incredible "Akira" and "Fist of the North Star" so I was spending my pocket money

each week on a new VHS title. I was an anime addict and constantly on the look out for anything new/violent/sexy when Manga Mania magazine (anybody remember that?)

ran a one page ad saying "Coming next month, a brand new monthly video comic - The Guyver!!" with a full cover shot of Guyver I & II. I knew I had to get it, so was

REALLY happy to discover that not only was it coming each month but that each tape was only 5 pounds! Cheap AND Amazing! I got "Data 1" on the day of it's release from Our Price records (anybody remember those too?)

and I bunked off school and watched it instead! HOOKED!

The data entries of the Zoanoids with the amazing figures and the hilarious spelling errors were really cool too!

Ah.... Happy days!

I started reading the manga in 2011. At the time I was just trying to find a good manga to read and then when I saw guyver I thought the cover looks cool, and the rest is history.

Can't remember the year anymore, but I was in 7th grade and at a sleep over when my friend decided he wanted to show us some of these Japanese cartoons they called "Anime".  Unfortunately, the Blockbuster in our neighborhood only had Tape 3 of the OVAs (Death of the Guyver) so that was my first exposure to it. I remember it being brutal and awesome with the action and gore.

Also, the way Sho yells "GUUYYYVEERRRRR!!!" when he transforms right before his fight with Enzyme always stuck with me as being amazing. Not sure why, haha.

Similar story to a few here for me. My brother rented episodes 1-4 of the ova from blockbuster around 1999. The opening theme was all I needed to fall for it, a scary malmot with a bomb in his mouth and the first fight between guyver 1 and a gregole. POW! Hooked.
