Wait, Vegeta and Goku are now gods? as in Immortal and know longer need to be super saiyans? I'm confused.

Ok remember what I said in an earlier post. Super Saiyan God is more like god mode and none of the gods in db are immortal. While I dont know the full details until I see the film going by what information I gathered I'll do my best to explain. After Goku became a SSG he's became much stronger, Beerus started that this was because Goku somehow absorbed his god forms power. His power has increased to the point where his base form is stronger then his SS3 form at the start of the films. The creator of DB said in an interview that "Super Saiyan 2 and 3 are nothing more than powered-up variations of Super Saiyan. After the fight with Beerus, Goku realized that mastering his normal state and Super Saiyan would raise his level more and sap less strength, so I think he probably wont become Super Saiyan 2 or 3 any more." So Goku and Vegeta will ether learn to draw out their level 2 and 3 power while in normal Super Saiyan form similer to how Goku and Gohan mastered the form the Cell Saga or like Gohan in the buu saga they will be able use all of their super forms power without transforming at all.

They will also seemingly have access to a power of a Super Saiyan God. This powered-up state was called "Saiyan beyond God" in the game Dragon Ball Heroes

I kind of meant in the terms of character development and intrigue that does not concern fighting.

I see what you mean, sorry for the miss-understanding.

Ok as a good fan of the series I going to point out its good but i also won't deny its flaws ether.

One of the thinks that keeps it interesting is phase also its greatest flaw, It was literally made up as it went along. Its not like one piece or naruto where the world was created and then added to, Dragon Balls world explored and expanded on a saga by saga bases. You can never guess where the next saga will take you or where the story is going. For all the good and bad that entails. The best place to get a full breakdown of the story is the youtube series Dragon Ball Dissection.

As character development and intrigue thats a tough one to explain (I'll do my best). First remember that this is a shonan series and an old one at that. Goku like almost all hero's of this type of series is the innocent lovable idiot who is also an awesome fighter (although he is one of the better examples in my opinion). However he dose change as the series goes on but its subtle and easy to miss. Because the series was made on the fly many characters would be introduced then pushed to the background. However most of the main cast do get little moments here and their but like goku blink and you'll miss. Funniely enough its normally the villains who get development . Tien, Piccolo, Bardock and Vegeta (the characters who get the most character development of the heroes) are all former villains of the series. Vegeta is the best example of the lot has has a very interesting history. Firstly he was just going to be a one saga villain, however Toriyama was advised by his editer to keep him. At first Toriyama didn't like this but admitted that having Vegeta around allowed him to do things he wouldn't have been able to with out him. As time went on he's grown to like the character to the point where he made Vegeta stronger then Goku for a brief time in BoG and the Hero of RF. This also mirriors Vegeta's development as a character. He started as a cool but somewhat stereotypical "I'm better then you" villain, during the Frieza saga his shown to be a very intelligent and ruthless character who will do anything to get his way but we also lean that he dose have a heart when we see that the frustration of not being able to beat Frieza, his inslaver and the destroyer of his race, is enough to bring him to tears. We also see this when on the brink of death he begs Goku to avenge their race ad beat Frieza in his place. During the Android saga we that Vegeta become a dangerus but powerful ally, although he's only helping the heroes because he wants to fight the androids. We also see the beginning of his relationship with Bulma but at the time it seems like just a fling or even a one night stand. We also get to see him go from being indifferent to his son, Trunks to respecting and then truly caring for him. We also see him become really depressed at the thought of not having Goku around anymore. In the Buu saga he's become something of a family man who truly loves his wife and young son but that he also hasent yet let go of his rivalry with Goku nor desire being the strongest and worries that his love for his family is making him weak. This leads him to something like a mid-life crisis which takes him to a very dark place. He deliberately lets Babadi turn him into a Majin in order to read himself of his perceived weakness and finally able able to beat Goku. However in the end his love is stronger then the darkness in his heart. After hugging Trunks for the first time since he was a baby, Vegeta sacifices himself to try and beat Buu during which he says good bye to his son, his wife and yes even Goku the closest thing he had to a friend. And he dose this all in the knowledge that he will never see them again for he has done to much evil in his life and will be sent to hell. after being brought back inorder to fight Buu, Vegeta throws away his pride twice for the sake of the people he loves twice. The first is when he fused with Goku and the second was when he asked the people of earth to lend Goku their energy. It was also at this time he admitted to himself that Goku was better them him. During BoG We see just how much he's changed, he dose a stupid dance to calm down Beerus and explodes with rage when Beerus slaps Bulma (this is the first time he has openly shown just how much he cares for her).

Other characters who show growth and devlopment (to varying degrees) are Gohan, Future Trunks, Androids 18 and 16, Mr Satan, Frieza, Cell, Buu and Beerus. Broly from the movies also dose but his devlopment is more like a downward spiral into lunacy and madness.

Rumors, and rumors only so far... But according to the rumors, it's not really a new "form" so much as "Turning Super Saiyan after using the God Powers".

Rumors quoted below:

Apparently, this isn't a new form. It's supposedly just cosmetic. A new look, if you will.

On a GameFAQs spoiler thread, forum member Then00bAvenger summed up the blue-haired spoilers that are floating around. "The blue hair thing is apparently just an effect of 'going Super Saiyan' when you have absorbed Super Saiyan God powers. In other words, it's not really a new form as it is a 'new look' for Super Saiyan for Super Saiyan Gods. Or something like that. I don't know, it's weird. Both Vegeta and Goku do it and they have to use that form to fight against Golden Freeza."

Continuing, Then00bAvenger added, "Goku and Vegeta use their blue forms pretty much immediately against Golden Freeza actually."

Over on Dragon Ball fan site Kanzenshuu.com, forum member Kei17, who also runs a DBZ fan site and who claims to have seen the preview, wrote this when asked about the blue hair: "It's just Super Saiyan fused with Godly power. It happens solely for a powerup and has no interesting story behind it."

Online in Japan, others who claimed to have been at the preview confirmed the blue-haired Saiyans. "They seemed like regular Super Saiyans, but made blue," wrote one net user.

Oh. Okay.

Keep in mind that we're filing these explanations under "rumor" until Kotaku can confirm this first-hand once we see the movie when it opens next month in Japan.

Its going to be a bit strange for me seeing all these new transformations when I've been out of the loop for a while.

Super Saiyan combined with God powers equals blue super saiyans.... :upset:

I'm a little disappointed after reading this spoiler. :upset:

I felt the same at first but the plot has grown on me. There are some things I would change but I praise the movie for trying something different.

Yeah. I was hoping to see Vegeta or Gohan....some one other than Goku who always wins. Sure.. seeing Gohan nuke Cell with a Super Saiyan 2 Kamehameha wave was really epic.

Even seeing that locked with Cell's Perfect Kamehameha was probably the most epic fight scene in the series as another character other than Goku can win.

As much as I like Goku. I don't like to see just him winning all of the time. Season 2, Season 4 and Season 6 is the pretty much the only time you see the other Z warriors win a fight. We saw Vegeta kill half of Frieza's men. Sure, most of the time, its a saiyan winning. Sure, Gohan, Vegito and Super Saiyan 2 Gotenks didn't win, but they put up a good fight.

Basically, any other character fighting is just another meat shield for Goku until he arrives at the last minute to save Earth or the universe.

Oh well. I guess. Was hoping to see Vegeta to get some long over due on Frieza himself. I guess he's just there for the ride like he was on New Namek, getting the living daisies beat out of him and getting in Goku's way. Although the only time he and Goku ever truly worked well together was during their fight with Pure Majin Buu after Earth was destroyed....that and fighting Jamemba and perhaps the story on Beerus.

Well while it is Goku who saves the day he dosent do so on his terms, in fact he almost died because he let his guard down and it wasent even Frieza who almost killed him.

Vegeta dose shine a bit in this movie but it seem that the point was to show Goku and Vegeta have a lot more to learn and overcome. They both lost their fights to a weaker foe and if not for Whis the earth and all our heroes would have been destroyed for good.

While Frieza is a bit of a punching bag in the film he still with just 4 months of training serpassed all the villains who came after him and was a match for a Super Saiyan (God Ki) Goku. He only lose because he, like Goku and Vegeta, had not learned to truly overcome his mental flaws.

BoG's lesson was one from early in Dragon Ball, "There is always someone stronger then you". FnF's lesson is that "just getting stronger is not enough, you must also master your mind and overcome its flaws as well."

Oh.....I'm not sure..... I don't even know what to think of this new blue haired Goku. I can't tell whether I'm just horrified or how bad he looks. I prefer the golden hair look. Blue just isn't Goku's color....I don't think.  :upset:  :o

I'm not a big fan of it ether to be honest, Vegeta pulls it off better. The red hair of SS God suited him better.
