I can't say that it was unexpected.  Like all climax, the villains will always achieve their ultimate goal, but will only be short lived due to the intervention of the last remaining hero who is down on his luck.  This is looking exactly like a typical shonen manga having the exact same formula.  I'm wondering if whether Kishimoto is already running out of materials or his editor is forcing him into that direction.

For now, I would give it the ratings of "meh".  and since I've followed it this long, might as well see it through to the finish.

This is similar with Bleach.  But One Piece always surprises me every week.

I am but the only think thats intrested me in the last few chapters was Guy opening all his eight gates and fighting Madara otherwise its just "meh".

Am I the only one who was happy with Obito being the main villian and being bondedd to the ten tails (I liked the idea that he was able join with it and one up Madara) rather then the out of left field BS Madara's been pulling, he's acting more and more like Bleach's Aizen. I also proffered Obito's Ten Tails Jinchūriki form it just looks so much better then Madara's.

P.S. I don hate Madara, I just hate what he's turned into.

Still following it, it's been a bit stretched out for an arc, and it's kinda starting to bug me, but at the same time it's been going back and forth between the good guys and bad guys, and that's pretty cool. A little conflicted by some of the generic shonen stuff they've thrown, and it's starting to feel like it'd DBZ... which is awful. But on the other hand the body count and devastation actually has given me the chills. Something DBZ never did.

Also, side note, bleach has been following a similar set of lines, but without as much plot and Naruto's been a bit better at it. Bleach's strength is that it's heroes are pretty close in strength, with Naruto you pretty much know that Naruto and Sasuke can destroy almost anyone together.

That's the problem with shonen manga these days.  Two opponents keep on one upping the other.  Gone are the days in Naruto where the fights really involve critical thinking, and doesn't really rely on strength alone.  They should be outsmarting each other, not beating one another senseless.

I don't tend to read manga, there are only a very few I have read, guyver, akira, naruto.

as a result I don't notice if the events are clichéd or if it is too much alike other manga. I don't care, I only know that I like naruto.

The way it went was a bit sucky, the war went on for too long, but now we come out the other side and it looks like a victory will be had soon.

Yeah, it bugs me when manga starts off intelligent, but then goes completely power up mode. Naruto avoided it for a fair bit since the main character was so weak compared to other characters for so many years. But now it's gotten to the point that he's so powerful, that he has to fight a gods. Literally it started off with a demi-god, and now an actual god incarnate.

Also, I am weary of every villain switching sides, or having a pity story. It's great when some characters do, but having it with every antagonist is repetitive. Really, in real life some people really are that bad, unredeemable or outright insane.

I also find it awkward that in the last 3 weeks we've had so much new background and so many Deus Ex Machina plot holes thrown at us that it's almost unsettling how sloppy it feels from a writer's/reader's standpoint.

Ironically enough I've been reading Feng Shen Ji. Imagine my surprise when a manga about super powered gods actually involves a kid outsmarting both them and human slavers? It was a nice surprise. It ended up going into power levels as well, but the character always goes back to being the clever, manipulative, and charismatic ass that outsmarts his opponents.

Shingeki no Kyojin, Been reading it, but haven't seen the anime yet. Lot's of hype over this one, but it's really a survival story, and that stands out for me. No one goes around kicking peoples asses or is over powered, well except the titans. Wait, that isn't entirely true. The Female protagonist is freakishly strong and everyone fears her.

Vinland Saga, what can I say. This thing, I love it, art style and plot. It's kinda like prince valiant meets 13th warrior, meets game of thrones. Depends on the plot arc.
