This is no surprise.  In prior season, they killed the wife which in the book was supposedly alive.  The show was more gruesome, and a lot more merciless.  From here on out, it might be entirely different from that of the books.  In the trailers, I saw Tyrion walking alongside Denaerys, which I have never seen in the books.  It's going to be interesting.

Thats good to know. I was shocked when Tyrion killed his father. I was waaay shocked. Didn't see that happening.  :o

Oh, prepare to be shocked more.  That's how it is with GRRM, just because you are the leading protagonist doesn't mean your safe from dying.  Heck, everyone thought that Ned Stark was the main protagonist, little did everyone know that his head will roll later in the first season.  Literally.

I remember reading a fan favorite character being stabbed to death at the last part of the novel.  His fate remains unknown if he survived or not.

Okay, the first few episodes have a different take compared to the books.  Although they changed a few bit, the direction of the story stayed somewhat the same.  Big change to note that Sanza wasn't supposed to marry Ramsay Bolton.  It was supposed to be Jeyne Poole, Sanza's childhood friend, who was pretending to be Arya.  The Boltons did this so they can have legal claim to Winterfell.  Since nobody knows what Arya looks like and where she is, it's the most convenient story to tell everyone.  So this story line is going to be interesting.  The Boltons has been known to be very cruel and merciless, and Ramsay particularly violent to the women.  How will he treat Sanza and how will she handle/manipulate(?) Ramsay?

After the recent episode, it looks like the show has been combining other subplots into one.  One thing I noticed that with the likely omission of Aegon Targaryen, Jon Connington's role has been combined with that of Jorah Mormont.

Also, looks like we should be careful of how much we like or dislike a certain character.  The more we like the character, the higher the chance of said character dying.

Thats very true.....I learned that lesson with Eddard Stark, lol!  :whoo:

i don't know? it's going to be interesting, thats for sure.

it's going to be difficult to manipulate ramsey, especially by sanza!, but to be honest, i really don't think its going to go that far, i think ramsey will be killed off by someone before he even gets to marry sanza. or maybe on the wedding night!

I just found this article. Critics are upset about Sanza and her getting raped.

Supposedly the rape scene was pretty bad.  :o

In the spoiler is the scene. It doesn't seem that bad and it doesn't show it. Just a close up of Sansa's face and her grunting.

Article: http://www.mail.com/entertainment/lifestyle/3561292-critics-slam-hbo-drama-game-thrones-rape-scene.html#.7518-stage-subhero1-1

In a comment tweeted Tuesday, Sen. Claire McCaskill described the sexual assault as "gratuitous" and "disgusting." The Democratic lawmaker from Missouri said she was done with the show. Others critics included the website The Mary Sue, which offers a feminist view of pop culture. The website posted that it would no longer promote "Game of Thrones" and said that rape is not a device to drive a story.

HBO declined comment Tuesday on the reaction to the episode that debuted last Sunday. An after-hours call to McCaskill's office seeking further comment was not immediately returned. The attack involved newly married characters Sansa, played by Sophie Turner, and Ramsay, portrayed by Iwan Rheon. Ramsay's rape of Sansa was off-camera, suggested in her cries and the distress on a bystander's face.

The scene differed from the work of George R.R. Martin, whose novels are the basis of "Game of Thrones." In Martin's work, a different character marries Ramsay and is sexually assaulted by another man at Ramsay's direction.

Last season, HBO was slammed over another rape scene, that one involving incestuous lovers. The show's ongoing graphic violence also has drawn criticism. Despite the attacks, "Game of Thrones" remains a steady hit in its fifth season.

well, i didn't think they'd wed so quickly!

so much for ramsey getting stabbed by sansa on the wedding night.

as for all the comments from people upset about that last scene, 'it's a show for f***s sake'. and a bloody good one.

you could pretty much tell what to expect to see from the first couple of episodes that aired 5years ago. i'm actually surprised that this was the first suggested rape scene('suggested' as it really wasn't graphically shown). as rape was frequently rampant back in that era.

and for all those that disapprove, but still, somehow manage to watch through the entire episodes of the series instead of switching off or to another channel. they can always put in a dvd and watch an episode of 7th heaven or touched by an angel from the boxset they have on the shelf!

anyway, enough of that..... i wonder if we'll see whats happen to bran this season?

I think all the anger was from the fans of the book.  Just because what happened wasn't how it was exactly described in the books means its bad.  I myself just felt bad for Sansa.  It would have been bearable if Theon wasn't there.  But he had to watch.  Now I'm hoping that this act will snap Theon back to his senses.

Now as for Arya, I'm a bit disappointed at how slow the pace of her training was going.  She didn't even learn the Bravosi language, or at least gave a hint on how to play the game of many faces.  I'm still trying to figure out how Arya could become a bad@ss with the way things are going right now.

still alittle early for arya to make any huge progress. probably by the next season things will change as i wouldn't be surprised there might be a year or two leap in the story from this season to the next.

only 3 episodes left untill the end of this season., will the best, jaw dropping scene be left 'till the last episode?

They arent making her progress slow, more like cutting most of them out

Everyone's going mad and hating on Stannis for whats happened but I think this has made his character way more interesting now, he's just murdered the only human part of himself.

He's also abandoned a huge part of himself to Rhlor, killing for the God's and ambition instead of killing or punishing for justice. Cant wait to see what becomes of him.

holy of all holy cows!
well, really, it was to be expected as from last season when the red preistess mentioned to stannis that a sacrifice would be needed. i actually was expecting his wife to be up in flames aswell?. maybe she gets done later.
one thing for sure, davos is going to go crazy if and when he returns, i think he loved that little girl more than stannis.

and what about drogon, oooooohhhhhhhhh, what an episode. funny to see that tyrion will have to pickup his jaw off the ground in disbelief!

I really don't know what to make of this.  Stannis is known to love Shireen unconditionally despite her being afflicted with gray scales.  This just shows how desparate Stannis has become.  So instead of hoping for a miracle on his March to Winterfell, we are now expected to have a Miracle.

I actually expected Drogon to appear, the question now remains as to what does the show have in store for Denaerys.   In the books, Drogon swepted her away and left her in an isolated nest somewhere in the waste lands.  It remains to be seen how Denaerys is going to get back.  And with Mereen having no ruler (Hisdaq was suppossed to be married to Denaerys during the games) and since we saw her future consort being stabbed, well, what's to happen to Mereen now?

Its just poor writing by the show writers, like the part where Lancel reminded Cersi about her wrong doings and she went to arm the faith militant.

The harpies didnt even throw a spear at Dany so  she went for a joyride on Drogon instead of getting to safety or finishing off the rest of harpies.

wouldn't denaerys still rule mereen?

although the attack against her was in the stadium, would it of been city wide, against her army? i thought her soldiers doubled or trippled the cities people. but i suppose in narrow, city streets, numbers mean nothing.

well, you know whats going to happen next episode, nothing about mereen or denearys, it'll be back to sansa, castle black and kings landing. until next season, damit!

i think for the first time in 4 seasons, we're going to have 4or5 cliffhangers.

i actually heard that john snow would get stabbed to death this season, but had no idea he'd be 'back stabbed'!

stannis's death was a huge surprise to me, thought he'd atleast make it half way through the next season.

hahaha, after cerci's walk of shame, wonder who the first on her list for the zombie mountain to kill will be 8-)

he'd probably be able to wipe out the entire sect in one night.

Well, for all Jon Snow believers, don't lose hope, the book has not yet confirmed his fate, which is pretty much the same for the show.  We saw him bleed, but we don't see him actually die.  There is this theory going on about how Melissandre would do a Beric Dondorion on Jon Show, since he might actually be the true Azor Ahai resurected.  Fan theory also goes on saying that since there are three dragons, there will be three dragon riders.  We all know that Danaerys is one, the other two might be Jon Snow (which fans theorized to be the son of Raegar Targarean and Lyanna Stark, hence has Targarean blood), and Tyrion (the mad king might have raped Tywin's wife which resulted in tyrion).  Despite the surprises, I still see the show to be somewhat aligned with the direction of the book.

And lastly, if the producers kept killing protagonist, who'll end up in the climax of the series?  It's very difficult to build up strong characters with just one season.
