*Jess♥ Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 This is a general thread about South Korea.I just thought it would be cool to talk about what everyone thinks of South Korea. What do you think of when somebody mentions south Korea. what are they famous for?have you ever visited?I thought it would be interesting to talk about it since a lot of K-pop is very popular all over Asia and of course in Japan. And of course Gangam style became very popular recently. It's also worth noting that Korea have become almost like world leaders in online gaming systems. The online game for Dragonball is being developed in South Korea. Quote
LordSpleach Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 (edited) I know it's the most wired and networked country in the world, and I believe Starcraft is a national sport there(or sorry I heard). Edited January 24, 2013 by LordSpleach Quote
durendal Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 Yes, starcraft is that popular that they even have televised competition. I've seen one as we have a Korean channel specifically for that. A lot of my friends visit South Korea, and seems to be enjoying their tour over there. I on the other hand doesn't want to go there since the only thing of interest for me in Korea is the K-pop. Well, I am playing a korean game, Ragnarok Online, if you might have heard of it. but that's pretty much it. Quote
*V Guyver Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 Korea and games are famous, though they are more famous for their players dying in gaming sessions instead of their MMO's like in recent years. Their strategies players are considered the best and most hardcore, some even selling DVD's highlighting their tactics and capabilities, gameplays, even against other famous players. Tourney video's are easily the most popular. Star Craft, Warcraft, are the biggest names, but you see a few others strategy games mentioned. Of course MMO's are also damn popular, but you don't see that same level of hardcore following, but their level of play is in another level and they are indeed the leaders developing those type of games now, along with free2play games.
