i will apologise here beause there wasnt much i observed there was just lots of good old action!!!

...

Aptom declares his true intentions of revenge.

Aptom vs. G1

Sho gets the ability to transform to the Guyver back and vows to fight his way out of the fate he has been dealt.

Aptom starts to become a very interesting character and takes over Elegens body!

Sho and Mizuki- half naked - get caught in Zoanoid town aka Takeshiro town / takeshiro chrome town 3 / Takeshiro Ginza.... if this is the same place what happened to calling it 'N town' ???(in chuang yi)??? WTF?

like i said i was just so carried away by the action in the volume that if i missed something of significance then consider it missed.

daveblackeye im sure theres something you might have noticed?, if so let us know! :)

I'm kind of weird about Sho losing the ability to transform. On the one hand I'm glad he didn't lose it for very long and regained it at a great moment. Other hand: something about it feels kind of, well, experimental and trite even though it makes sense. I don't know, feels like a very 'early manga' stage to put in and maybe it is just because no one has referenced it for ages now even though there is no reason to. Yeah I am weird about it and I'm not exactly complaining about it.

On the plus side Aptom really takes stage and becomes a part of the cast, well maybe not exactly but he's a lot more lethal now and not just a one shot character. Now that I've learned that Guyver is a roughly bi-monthly work, kinda, I try to think of how long absences go on. Like readers were left wondering for nearly a year about the fate of Guyver III and everyone else I realized.

I should have brought this up in the last topic but I kind of also dislike how Murakami gets two fights in the last book then doesn't really get any action again until the eighth book. Not exactly a weakness of this book of course. I just sort of wish they weren't lumped together or could have somehow gotten another fight somewhere but it would have broken the 'four is death' vibe of his transformations.

Hm how often has Imakarum transformed now? Once in 10, again at the end of book 11, third time for a brief bit in 18 I think...uh-oh.

I know what you mean about how you feel regarding Sho losing the ability to transform. i think it is similar to Guyver II and him dying in the first volume - Takaya had no idea how long the manga was going to go, so he probably wanted to include all these really interesting concepts and ideas he had as soon as possible.

And yeah, I really can't imagine how excruciating it must have been enduring the waits we have today for those earlier volumes. Juicy stuff happened back then! We take for granted that it all happened long before any of us even knew what Guyver was.

And one thing I've always found noteworthy about this book - There's a guy in Takeshiro wearing a McGyver shirt! Always found that pretty funny. I think this volume also has a guy in an Ultraman mask? Though that may have been a recurring thing... I can't remember.

that ought to be takeshiro chome. chome is a district of a city.

but takeshiro ginza? that is very odd. ginza is a popular shopping district in tokyo.

damn, I wish i could see the japanese book for this.

WAIT.

I can read these parts in the scan somebody sent me for translating these early books.

the sign on the street does indeed say takeshiro ginza. this means it is the 'ginza' of takeshiro. it's on the gate so it is referring to this area being the shopping district.

The title of the chapter refers to takeshiro town.

the following page describes them as being in 'N city' area.

I did find a takeshiro on google maps. https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=%E7%AB%B9%E4%BB%A3&hl=en&ie=UTF8&ll=34.918628,137.164178&spn=0.016257,0.03459&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-a&hq=%E7%AB%B9%E4%BB%A3&radius=15000&t=h&z=15

it is closest to nagoya. but I don't think it is close enough to be a direct match. the mountain we found that held the similarity with mount minakami is near nagano (as well as being named mount minakami). https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=%E7%AB%B9%E4%BB%A3&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-GB:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&ie=UTF-8&hl=en&sa=N&tab=wl

edit:

btw the kanji for matsushiro town right next to the real mount minakami uses the same second kanji as takeshiro.

also, I found an interesting page talking about secret headquarters underneath the real mount minakami... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matsushiro_Underground_Imperial_Headquarters

@ Dave

really i think if ever Sho was going to lose the ability to transform in that pyschological way then it had to be that early in the series, i dont think it would have worked any later on...

@ BBDude

good call on the Mcgyver vest!! so are we saying that Takaya got Guvyver from mcguyver and this is him paying tribute?? :) (although im sure guyver came first right!???!)

@Ryuki

thanks for clearing all the Takeshiro stuff up...sure its not that important but it is confusing with having 5 different names for the same place!!!

i dont know wht but all i get is weird script on my screen when i try to follow the google links - this also happens for me with youtube vidz sometimes.

oh and a real secret base! wow takaya is the king of research!

you need to read the takaya interview in animerica.

it's in the Manga viewer.

The name for Guyver comes from Megadiver, one of Takaya Sensei's favuorite tv series growing up.

take a look:-
