I've decided to initially make a guyver navbox. Based on the first suggestions I've made. Of course I think we should iron out first the navbox before we put it to use.

I'm also thinking of using this instead of the zoalord navbox once things are ironed out. Because we would need to reformat some of the pages to be able to link them properly.

see link here: http://japan-legend.com/wiki/index.php?title=Template:Guyver_navbox

I'm sure there are a lot of stuff that I wasn't able to include. Feel free to mercilessly edit.

excellent stuff.

yes, i think this would probably replace the zoalord navbox.

it is very efficient.

one thing before we continue.

we need to agree on a name for inspector val. i had replaced some instances with valkyria, since that is what it says on the front of the book 26.

should we stick with valkyria or are we using valcuria?

Posted

Well, if the written english in the book says its Valkyria, who are we to argue?

Also, is Mount Minakami and Relics point one and the same? I can't seem to remember well. Anyway, it's easy to edit so no biggie.

Well, based on the discussions being made (well, it actually seems to be only the both of us), the navbox is approved? Since it's easy to edit, I'll just add the navbox to existing guyver pages. Also edited the Valcuria=>Valkyria and removed Mount minakami as it is the one and the same as relics point.

Posted

yeah, definitely approved.

I'll add some pictures.

if you put any placeholders in where you would like pictures, I can add them easily.

At the moment, I can't think of any images that I can add. But I would like to finish the Zoaforms page. I was thinking of reformatting the zoaform pages, giving the zoanoids, hyper-zoanoids, zoalords and lost numbers their own separate page. With the main page listing the notable zoanoids/hypers/lords that had significant impact on the story, and another listing all the zoanoids available (ala VDF). I think that since we are an in-depth source of information, they should deserve their own page instead of all them lumped into a single page.

I think this was one of the issues that you needed help on, if I remember correctly.

Additionally, perhaps we should merge the Zoalords page with the 12 holy commanders main page? Maybe I should tweak the 12 holy commanders page before I proceed with the Zoaforms page.

Okay, this might be a little hard to keep track, but I've made edits on several pages. For one thing, I edited Takaya's page. I've expanded on what was written there and included some personal information like date of birth, birth place and added an improvised info box.

Next, I edited the 12 holy commanders page. I now listed the 12 zoalords as well as the protozoalord, with short description of each of them (work in progress). I've also placed placeholders for their mugshots. I really didn't want to clutter the page with large pictures. I plan to link this as the zoalord page from the zoaform page.

Then I edited the guyver systems page. The page were all the weapons of the guyver were listed? I added the guyvers, their height, weight and a short description. I think I would want to modify the format further, but I'm still thinking on how to improve on it more. The current weapons listing looks like a plain old list. I plan to categorize each weapons, and add a few images of said weapons. To spice up the page.

I hope this would be alright. Feel free to revert all if not acceptable.

Yes, excatly. And you wanted to transfer all those information to this board. Might take a little bit of time to finish all of it, but we'll get there.

Right now, I think I could work on the hyper zoanoid page and incorporate all those that you have done in the old board. I'll also be adding some formatting of my own to add cohesion to the pages. Would you agree if we lose the current zoaform page and replace it with the ones you made in the guyverboard?

edit:

No, we should retain the zoaform page, but I suggest we split the zoanoids, hyper zoanoids, lost number and zoalords into their own pages. I have already created a page solely for Hyper Zoanoids. I just combined the information from the guyverboard pages. Hope this is okay.

Made some changes to the main guyver page. I've divided the terminologies into bioboost and zoaforms. With a link to the zoaforms page with in-depth information. The information here was copied from the Advent Database, which I propose we should remove due to redundancy. I kept the art reference and amalgated them with the articles written in the Advent Database page.

Additionally, the original guyverboard page about zoaforming: http://www.theguyver.net/guyver_datafiles/hierarchy/data_zoaforming.htm seems to have a lot of very useful information. Perhaps we can include the information there and move the zoanoid classes to their own page. I won't touch the Zoaforms page since you are currently working on them.

And lastly, I tweaked the adaptations section. I've included some short information regarding the pages as opposed to simply listing the links.

you can do as much as you like, don't worry about stepping on my toes or anything.

I've spent many years working on this site and its predecessors, I am more than happy to take a rest.

you'd probably do a much more effective job on it due to your excellent motivation.

I have also added a few more characters in the character section of the main guyver page. At the rate that we're going, perhaps later it might be a good idea to dedicate a single page to list all the characters. This way, even those pages that doesn't have a dedicated page will still get some highlights.

Also, I seem to remember seeing mugshots of the zoalords in the guyverboard. I remember you guys having the title of each zoalord with their mugshots as your avatar. Will it be alright to ask for them? I plan to use them for the zoalords page. If I'm not mistaken, they are from the guyver volumes.

By the way, I'd like to ask about the naming conventions for the characters. This is going to impact the names of the pages and I only realized it today. For character names, it was my practice to place the surname first before the given name, like "Fukamachi Shou". I have done it like this in the Masked Rider pages. I didn't get any comments on it so I paid no attention to it. Now I noticed that there are pages that starts with the given name first then followed by the surname, like "Tetsuro Segawa", though the page is still currently blank. Not to mention that Takaya's page was named as "Yoshiki Takaya". In the wiki, how should we put it? Should it be "Fukamachi Shou" or "Shou Fukamachi"?

I think it would be better to establish this early on while there are still few pages than to rename the pages later on. Also might avoid repetitive pages.

Ah cool, thanks. Surname first it is.

Thanks also for the images. But I seem to remember them differently. Oh wells, I'm sure I can make use of them.

Additionally, I'd like to request for help with the episode guide: http://www.japan-legend.com/wiki/index.php?title=Guyver:_TV_Series

I've remformatted the page, but I retained all elements of the old page, just added air dates, titles in both English and Japanese, episode credits, and I do hope you don't mind if I took the summary from wikipedia. Synopsis are one of my weak points, and I'll be glad if someone else would edit them. As for my request, I noticed that only episode 1 has the complete screenshots while the rest are blank. Do you still have the images for them? I liked the images since it also provides information about the screen cap.

Wow Ryuki, that was really quick. Thanks. The TV series page now looks complete. Very nice, if I might say so myself.

Hope you don't mind me asking another question. I've just finished adding the track list for the guyver Music page. And since the OVA CD is somewhat out of print or hard to find, will it be alright if we provide mp3 for some of the songs there? I know where I can get the audio for those (actually that's where I got the track list from, and I had to reverse translate from English into Japanese). Also, will it be alright if we provide sample tracks for the other CD, just to entice the readers to buy the actual CD?

Just sharing some of my thoughts.

Posted

yeah i have all the images for that.

they are on theguyver.net.

I can quickly transfer them somehow.

i done a few, that's enough for now, I'll continue later.

yes, I believe dekared was supposed to be arranging that but obviously he is not on top of the music these days.

if the music is stored on a safe server then it's cool. mediafire is safe.

if it's not mediafire then can i have a look at the site first before linking to it?

if you drop me a reminder, I'll check my CD case for 'out of control' soundtrack.

edit: never mind it seems you have the perfect titles for those ones.

Posted

I think the out of control CD was just re-released a few years back so there is really no problem getting information about that. I was actually referring to the 12 episode OVA that had the 2 disc album. Anyway, I don't plan on directly linking the files. I plan on uploading them to a separate server (like mediafire). The files can actually be found on khinsider. Just google it and it's the first result. Head over the downloads, the music files are under "bio-booster armor guyver - Special OST"

Posted

ooh, did you find more japanese scans from somewhere?

i see we have more chapter titles.

i already have those music files anyway. i had the CD but there were other people in need so i saved the music onto my pc and passed it on.

but i don't have any titles or anything. they are just named "track01" etc.

Posted

Actually, I found the chapter titles by accident. I was looking through the scanlations to get the portrait of the zoalords in the start of the volumes. There are some volumes that have the first index page untouched. That's where I got them. But there are books that don't have them, and some have other chapters that still have the japanese titles. I noticed that some of the earlier volumes have ommitted some of the titles.

Also, this has really been bugging me. The location of Silha. The older volumes say it was somewhere in the atlantic ocean. But checking on the VDF as well as the japanese wiki, all of them are saying Pacific ocean. The Japanese indicates it as 太平洋, so if it is indeed that atlantic ocean it should say 大西洋. I think there may have been some confusion with the translations here.

And lastly, regarding the music tracks, I planned to link each track to an mp3, but is still hesitating due to our stand regarding publication of copyright materials. Why is why I only proposed to put samples for the CD that are available in the market. With regards to the 12 episode OVA soundtrack, since this CD is no longer in print or available anywhere, I thought that we could provide the songs for the whole CD. What do you think?

Posted

if a CD is not in print then i think we can link to it ok.

regarding the VDF. the VDF can, and has been, very wrong.

and all we need is to use common sense. (not suggesting that you should know history according to the west)

barcas was travelling to 'the new world' which is america. specifically south america.

he would not be in the pacific. not in a million years [emote=monkey]cool[/emote]

wow, you guys have been very busy i see.

i've had a look around the guyver pages and im impressed!

the main guyver page seems to be quite engrish though, i'll go through it later if that's okay. Also the beginning paragraph, "guyver is a armour system that..." wouldn't that work better in the synopsis bit? the rest of the opening is more of an overview of the series.
