river_chaos Posted March 12, 2011 Author Posted March 12, 2011 I have never had a bad day like this since the Katrina hurricane disaster. Band was unruly as usual, but the director gave up towards the end of the period and apologized later for losing his temper. Greenhouse mang. got bad when a kid decided to be insubortanant when the teacher refused to let him get a drink of water and now the teacher might be facing charges for some bs reason. In English 12 I heard about the 8.5 earthquake and the tsunami in Japan. My prayers go out the lives devistated and destroyed by this disaster. Quote
river_chaos Posted March 16, 2011 Author Posted March 16, 2011 My college day got moved to the 13th of April due to the college being closed on the original day I chose the tour. Oh well, it'll give me enough time to put together a portfolio for the art professors to see. I'm kinda impatient for the next Guyver chapter to come out; the wait is killing me more than Accounting concepts. It's like waiting for the next Eragon book to come out, only a different genre, but I want to know what happens next all the same. Quote
river_chaos Posted March 19, 2011 Author Posted March 19, 2011 Rant blog: I now have more reason to hate my soon to-be-ex-stepmother and her family: she's been giving away all my old Pokemon stuff that I've had since before I started the first grade! Damn it! Those little Pokemon plushes and figures were like my little friends! Even my old Gameboy Color Pokemon games are gone and one of those games belonged to an old friend I haven't seen in a while! The only thing she didn't get her hands on are my Pokemon cards, thank God! Argh! That really hacks me off! I kept those for a bloody reason instead of giving them away to my younger cousins for the love of all things good! I was gonna give those to my kids someday if I had any and keep a few because of personal value. End rant Quote
*Jess♥ Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 that's stealing? surely you can get them back in a straightforward fashion? Quote
river_chaos Posted March 19, 2011 Author Posted March 19, 2011 She gave them to her grandkids, and more than likely they got thrown away when their dad got mad because he's a physco just like her. As for the games, she probably sold them and they're as good as gone now. Quote
*Jess♥ Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 perhaps you can go to a small claims court. something like what they show on that 'judge judy' on tv. Quote
river_chaos Posted March 19, 2011 Author Posted March 19, 2011 Better yet, it could be brought up in the divorce court. Quote
river_chaos Posted March 22, 2011 Author Posted March 22, 2011 Went with Dad to his church group meeting today. It's called Celebrate Recovery, it's an adult group for people recovering from anger, alchohol, etc., and naturally the adults bring their little kids along and drop them off at the church's day care (sometime's called Little Life Academy). Today they needed help in the day care, and the day care lady asked my dad if I could help so I volunteered. So for two and a half hours me and four other girls looked after the little kids while the adults did their thing. It was fun, but I feel bad because the lady in charge of the day care gave me $15 even when I told her not to pay me Any who, it was fun and I'm thinking about going back to help out more. Quote
*Jess♥ Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 why feel bad about it? it brought joy into that lady's life to give you that money. share her joy in accepting her gift. Quote
river_chaos Posted March 22, 2011 Author Posted March 22, 2011 I was brought up not to accept money when doing favors for friends and family, and what I did was sort of a favor for her since her husband and my dad are old work buddies. And I also hate accepting money from friends during this crappy economy we're in now. Quote
river_chaos Posted March 25, 2011 Author Posted March 25, 2011 I've been playing one of the new Pokemon games for the Nintendo DS since last Sunday and got past the final boss two days ago (after much cursing and rearranging my team). I recently noticed that some of the songs played on there sounds familiar. Especially this one: Does anyone recognize it from somewhere? I don't know why, but I'm reminded of Final Fantasy or something related when I hear this. Quote
river_chaos Posted March 28, 2011 Author Posted March 28, 2011 Oh well... New Blog post I'm about ready to get rid of my cats. I found my computer microphone ruined today; the cord was in three peices. And one of them sprayed on the bathroom rug that I cleaned twice over the weekend now, and their cat litter was clean and fresh. Can't a girl get a bloody break for once?! Quote
*Jess♥ Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 I can understand the frustration of having to deal with cats. my cat really pissed me off today. she just opened my door and then walked away. didn't come in, or even look at me. it's not a big deal if i didn't have to climb over a chair and a bed to get to the door. ways to deal with cats... cat's don't associate your behaviour with anything they have done. so don't consider that shouting or hitting will teach them not to do something. they'll just think you're being an ass. (when i yell at my cat or if i slap her nose, it's for my benefit alone really) instead you have to have immediate feedback related to the thing you don't want them to do. if they pee on the rug, arrange a situation where they experience something unpleasant if they go on the rug. a sheet of tinfoil should help. leave it on there for a long while, maybe a couple of weeks. after that, they should be sufficiently dissuaded and will avoid the rug. your computer microphone... I'm not sure how you can foresee things like this, but if you put lemon juice on things, the cat will be repelled. Quote
river_chaos Posted March 29, 2011 Author Posted March 29, 2011 Hmm... That's not a bad idea actually. I think I'll try it, but one of the cats is still about to go. One of them just tore the hell out of my headphones. Quote
*Jess♥ Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 do you exert dominance? the best way to do that is to pin the cat to the ground and keep it pinned there until they give up and relax. do it as part of play, no need to hurt them, just stroke them as you normally would, push them around, knock them over etc. that way, they see you as their superior and if they smell your scent on something they will be less likely to play with it/destroy it. my cat never touches anything of mine unless i place it in front of her nose. Quote
river_chaos Posted March 29, 2011 Author Posted March 29, 2011 I've been trying that. All the cat does is naw and lick my hand when I do that. Quote
*Jess♥ Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 really? i don't know how a cat can turn it's head that far? sometimes i wait for a moment when i know the cat wants to get away, so I can exert dominance by preventing the cat from getting away. gnawing.. if you push from the cats shoulders and pin it to the ground, I am sure it can't turn its head that far. well i hope you figure it out Quote
river_chaos Posted March 30, 2011 Author Posted March 30, 2011 I hope so too before Dad decides to shoot them. Quote
Mirabilis Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 Wow, it sounds like things are getting interesting in your life. hahahaha! My parents dogs chew the crap out of anything with chords, headphones etc. So it always ticks us off, when we find a pair, or any chewed up wires. Quote
river_chaos Posted March 31, 2011 Author Posted March 31, 2011 Sounds like my brother's little cat (we always call it the little cat since the other two are fat). So far he's torn up my favorite earbuds and my computer mic. Now that I think of it, we've never had this problem until a few days ago. The little cat I caught playing with my mic.'s wire when my brother brought him home, but he hadn't torn up anything until now. Quote
river_chaos Posted April 1, 2011 Author Posted April 1, 2011 (edited) Ryuki, thank you for suggesting the lemon juice method to repel the cats. I tested lemon scented furniture polish on my great-grandma's old rocking chair (one of the cat's favorite scratch posts ) and none of the cats has gone near it since. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! PS: They've stopped getting on my desk too since I used it! Edited April 1, 2011 by river_chaos Quote
*Jess♥ Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 awesome I'm really glad it worked! since you mentioned about a change in the family, I thought i would mention that cats are substantially effected by change. if there are major changes in the house, you can expect the cats to start 'misbehaving'. when the bathroom was redecorated, our cat took to using the bath as a toilet. in these situations, it is best to isolate the change and make sure the cat can't get around it unsupervised. we started tightly locking the bathroom door and after a couple of weeks, she didn't go in there any more. Quote
river_chaos Posted April 3, 2011 Author Posted April 3, 2011 (edited) Hmm...we didn't redecorat anything, but dad and big brother have been going to CDL class and that's pretty much the only big change that I know of at the moment. We didn't have a problem with the other two cats when the little cat moved in with us back in December. Blog post Went up to my grandma's with my dad this weekend. I ended up helping the Master Gardeners group up in the Fort Smith area on Saturday by working in their first greenhouse. They were tickled to death to find out I was in greenhouse management class and I ended up teaching them how to properly repot plants in a greenhouse. Still it was fun. river_chaos Posted April 7, 2011 Author Posted April 7, 2011 I've finally got my art portfolio ready for my upcoming college day. Next week Mrs. R (the art teacher) is going to help me matt or mount some of them to make them look more professional when one of the art proffessors goes through it. A college day is where a high school student goes on one of their school days and tours a college campus of their choice, sit in one of their classes, and possibly get interviewed. Hopefully it'll go well and I'll be closer to making my decision on which college I want to go to once I graduate. Quote
