durendal Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 I hate super buu. But I do find Majin buu kinda cute. Funny at times even. Quote
*Jess♥ Posted July 28, 2011 Author Posted July 28, 2011 my favourite was the one that destroyed the sky temple. the one without a nose, but also very pumped up in his physique. the way he kept cracking his neck was just so intimidating. it was at this point that he was scariest in my opinion because he was similar to the terminator. he had an obvious intent and was not to be distracted. it's funny that she he absorbed the other guys and gained a nose and gained in intellect, it almost put him at a disadvantage as he could be distracted in some ways and engaged on an intellectual level. durendal Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 What I do find funny about the arc is the "World's Strongest Candy". Quote
durendal Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 Did I ever mention Hunter X Hunter? I mean, they do have some similarities with Naruto. Like the protagonists father leaving the child to their own devices, going through tough trials to prove himself worthy of his legacy and most important of all, the camaraderie. I remember this just know because I have recently seen the first episode of the revamped anime which started airing last October 2. Not to mention that the serialized weekly manga chapter seems to have normalized. Quote
*Jess♥ Posted October 21, 2011 Author Posted October 21, 2011 so that is a currently airing anime? or recent. yes i'll consider getting that. currently i'm watching gintama. which is over 200 episodes... so I need to consider it carefully. Quote

durendal Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 Hunter X Hunter was aired previously covering up to the Greed Island arc which consists of a TV series and multiple OAV's. I would have been happy if they had continued the story in the last OAV instead of remaking the whole series. A lot of people are actually complaining why a remake was done. Hunter X Hunter was a unique show that after the TV series, they made OAV that continue the story. At least in Hunter X Hunter, there were no fillers, as far as I know. Once an arc was finished, they would stop airing the show, and once a new arc was completed, they would release this as an OAV. Although I haven't seen the whole episode of the new series, I'm quite saddened that they removed a integral character at the start of the series. The character Kaito was an important character that would be relevant at the end of Greed Island arc and the Chimera arc. Looks like they are trying to fast track the story in the remake. Quote
durendal Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 by the way, the first Hunter X Hunter tv series had a total of 62 episodes, the next OAV, Genei Ryodan arc is considered as episode 63-70. The following OAV, Greed Island as episode 71-78, and the last OAV, G.I. Final as episode 79-92. One drawback here is that you have to watch these in succession. With the new remake, everything was reset back to zero. Quote
*Jess♥ Posted October 21, 2011 Author Posted October 21, 2011 i've heard of it before, i think it is good that they are remaking it because it gives me chance to enjoy it alongside all the new viewers. i sometimes feel lonely watching old series' because i am aware that hardly anybody is watching it at the same time as me. odin Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 and it had been suggested that the series was focusing more on Gohan than Goku. yup pretty much, that is why he is my favorite Saiyan, as I watched the series I grew with gohan, he is the character that had the most development in the series, how he had incredible potential but was not able to surpass his father who he looks up to, changes an evil character to a good one and befriends him (Piccolo) and trying to do his best to help but not quite being able to do something significant cause the odds are so incredibly overwhelming for someone his age until finally after some guidance he finally surpasses his father by unlocking his hidden potential and defeats the one opponent that his father could not, truly since the Saiyan saga to the cell saga it is all an underdog story. I don't know if you have been recommended this series but when you get the chance you should try out Fairy Tail, the comedy is very random, the action is never boring as the character and when it gets serious it really is an incredible ride, it is basically about guilds of magic and how the stories main guild called fairy tail goes through a lot of adventures and stuff, give it a whirl, you may like it. Quote
*Jess♥ Posted October 22, 2011 Author Posted October 22, 2011 yeah i tried watching fairy tail. it was fairly dank for me to be honest. I'm not sure how to fully describe this but some series just feel sort of mouldy to me. like they are copied off of another series but don't have enough light of their own to really shine. fairy tail didn't really feel like it was going anywhere and seemed more like it was trying to do what naruto did but changing a few major things to try and hide that intention. Quote
durendal Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 Well, I'm currently reading Fairy Tail and I'm immensely enjoying it. It's something like a mage version of one piece. I'm not so sure about the start of the anime, but I saw a few episodes of the anime via animax which made me seek out the manga. If watching the anime takes too much of your time, perhaps you might want to read the manga instead? The series does often refer to the term "Nakama" or "comrade" depicting the ties of each guild member and their bond. Quote
*Jess♥ Posted December 23, 2011 Author Posted December 23, 2011 i don't find any value in it though. it's that unquantifiable thing. let us say, the reason I first watched naruto was because i downloaded a demo of a xbox game and i enjoyed the setting. it seems to me, setting is very important. I don't think i have ever watched a series and enjoyed it when i did not originally see the setting and appreciate that. something about the environment, the ambience. Quote
durendal Posted December 26, 2011 Posted December 26, 2011 If that is the case, then it will be really hard for us to recommend anything to you. And so far, most of what we've recommended doesn't seem to pass your standards. Perhaps maybe your viewing habits make you think too much of the feature you're watching? But anyway, you might want to try watching Fairy Tail. The settings of that series is something like old mystical times, since the main subject of the series is about magic. It's like Naruto, but instead of ninjas and techniques, you get mages and magics. The main protagonist is called Natsu Dragneel, he was raised by the Dragon Igneel and learned his Fire Dragon Slaying magic from aforementioned dragon. He can basically eat any kind of fire to be manifested as his own power. The main narrative is related through the eyes of Lucy, a stellar mage. Quote
*Jess♥ Posted December 26, 2011 Author Posted December 26, 2011 yep. but I already said, I tried watching it but i think you mean that i ought to give it more of a chance? perhaps i'll skip ahead and watch some scenes from a fair way into it. might give me a more well rounded view. if you think it is that good then i can give it more of a fair chance? it's ok, honestly ,I always value all of your recommendations, but what i am trying to say is that I will generally know if I do not like something. for sure, if you are recommending anything ever, then there is a reason that you would recommend it and i recognise that. I want to try and share with you what you enjoy about it. but of course i can generally tell quite quickly if I will be able to enjoy it or not. I learned this with one piece. I tried a fair few times to get into it, but it kept coming down to what i felt with the first episode. I felt that the word was sort of empty. the atmosphere was lacking. but I think that atmosphere can be more than just music and colour palettes. it's hard to say, but it is something i can pick up on very quickly. it's why i kept trying hotaru no hikari after toku warrior recommended it thoroughly. I could sense that it was a show that i would enjoy. have i explained well? it's is a tough thing to convey i think. remember you guys recommended dragonball and i watched the whole lot and loved it. anyway, I am still loving gintama and i am recommending it to you guys if you have not seen it. it is similar to naruto in some ways. but also very much like excel saga. there seem to be a loose story but nothing super serious yet. oh yes, and i have hunter x hunter and gundam age on reserve. you guys talk about gundam with high praise so I think i would like to try and watch some of it. Quote
durendal Posted December 26, 2011 Posted December 26, 2011 Oh, you've already tried fairy tail? I wasn't aware of that, or perhaps I missed that in the previous posts. Anyway, if you've seen it once and didn't like it, then I guess there's nothing more I can convince you with. Besides, I've only seen about 2 or 3 episodes of fairy tail, so I can't comment much on the anime. Hunter X Hunter, I can vouch since I've read the manga and seen the anime, both incarnations. As for Gundam Age, I haven't seen it yet. This is probably the first Gundam Series that I am not following (except for Turn A Gundam, which I would also like to call Turn Away Gundam ). Thanks though for reminding me. I make it a habit of watching all the Gundam series, but this new series seems to be an exception. I don't know why though. Quote
*Jess♥ Posted December 26, 2011 Author Posted December 26, 2011 it does seem to be a different style, it looks more like pokemon than gundam I have seen. Quote
durendal Posted January 10, 2012 Posted January 10, 2012 Okay, I'm going to try this one last time. If this video doesn't convince you to give fairy tail a chance, then I'll stop. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iNmoFOXVf-Q It's just one funny fight featuring the main protagonist. Quote
*Jess♥ Posted January 10, 2012 Author Posted January 10, 2012 Thanks, that was a good clip. as you said, the first episode was weak so I needed to see something else. this doesn't overall convince me to watch the series, but it does offer a lot. I really felt a strong atmosphere underlying the fight. I felt a strong foundation to the character. it could have been that scene only but I felt a ferocity from the main character that seemed to really suit his name. he had a kind of wicked malevolence and recklessness that really made me think of a dragon. more than anything I have seen of this series, it game a strong feeling of a prevalent world that they live in and an atmosphere that I could appreciate. on top of that, the dog type character was frikkin hilarious! I'm not saying I'll watch it, but perhaps after gintama, I'll investigate fairy tale some more. speaking of gintama... have you seen the densha otoko episode? it's pretty awesome. Quote
durendal Posted January 11, 2012 Posted January 11, 2012 I have heard of Gintama but didn't quite pay much attention to it. Perhaps when I'm not quite loaded I'll give it a try. I have heard a few good things about the series and how hilarious it has been, given the scenario of aliens and samurai that I find both silly and amusing. Quote
*Jess♥ Posted January 11, 2012 Author Posted January 11, 2012 yeah , it has really had me in stitches a number of times. it is real bizarre humour at times. be wary though, it has a lot of episodes. the first season has 200 episodes and there is now a second season. I didn't obtain that yet though so i dunno how many. I think it's still ongoing. Quote
