nice :) I never did watch the final episode subbed.

couldn't bring myself to watch it for some reason.

currently part way through watching zenkai girl.

it's nice, pretty charming.

it's interesting to have a main character who can be such a bitch.

and the little kids are funny.

I love watching the kids in these drama. they are such good little actors.

Ah, Kiva. At the start, I kinda liked Nago, but after he went emo, I hated him. Even after he redeemed himself, he only turned into a comic relief which I find him to be pathetic.

After lying dormant for months in my PC after weeks of "acquiring" them, I finally got around to watch Agito. The series makes direct references to Kuuga with the development of the G3 armor for combatting Unidentified Lifeforms, and referring to Agito as something similar to Number 4, which is what Kuuga is called by the public. It would make you think that Agito is actually a sequel to Kuuga.

So far, watching only up to episode 2, Agito is giving me a good impression, unlike much more recent Rider series. I'm expecting that I would like this series.

I was not able to get hooked with ryuki, i guess is one of those series that i have to be in a certain mood to watch, currently watching Kamen Rider V3, after reading the kamen rider spirits manga it got me a lot more interested in the showa riders, specially V3 and Amazon and a bit of Super 1, I'm also watching Toei's Spider-Man since it is free to watch on Marvel's website, like it a lot, gives me a few laughs, I heard that V3 does a crossover with Spider-man, does anybody know on what episode it is?

best parts of ryuki is how funny shinji can be when he is screwing up or simply being clumsy.

he is what makes it for me. without him, ryuki would have been an empty show.

i recommend watching it when you can appreciate his character fully. or at least when you feel you can grow to appreciate him.

yea i noticed that about shinji, I'll take that into consideration when i try to tackle Ryuki again, is it true that Ouja is a serial killer? 0_o

I don't recall clearly, but from what i remember, he is in prison for being a killer, though I'm unsure if he is a serial killer. he is a very dangerous individual though, that much is clear

watching Boukenger at the moment, its OK apart from the fact 'chiefs' machine is called 'dump' which is not cool. i wonder if there is a big story arc lurking somewhere or not though ....

finished watching Garo 1st series, and in a word its AWESOME. its quite funny that i like Kouga the non transformed hero just as much, if not more, than when he calls the armour. the whole series is just really well executed. pleased theres another series currently airing but i hope they dont ruin it.

anyone seen Cutie Honey- the Live?? only watched one ep, it looks a bit ecchi but had some decent stuff in it. i suppose it could be considered in the same vein as Garo in that its not meant as a universal franchise. well its based off Go Nagai's work so its not bound to be is it!! and thinking about it it was more violent than Garo!!

Speaking of Ryuki, the main rider in Agito, Tsugami Shouichi, is somewhat similar to that of Shinji in Ryuki.

Well in Agito, Shouichi is a carefree amnesiac who is very skilled in house chores. Their demeanor and outlook seems to be quite similar. Both care passionately for their friends, and the only difference is that one is skillful while the other is clumsy. This is speaking of their character only of course.

You know, thinking about it now, Yusuke (Kuuga), Shouichi (Agito) and Shinji (Ryuki) have similar personalities.

I'm having trouble remembering.

I remember that guy who was using the robotic suit and i remember the tiger man who was murdering people.

I don't recall the main protagonist. I think i watched about 2 episodes.

What~? 2 episodes? That's not enough to get you hooked. The main protagonist is the one who looks like a housekeeper doing all sorts of chores and specializes in tending to the backyard garden. I think you'll be able to relate to him like how you relate to Shinji in Ryuki.

i think since you are watching this, it is an incentive for me to watch it.

I don't like watching a series on my own if it has a dark, moody or slightly depressing atmosphere.

I think that's why I stopped at the point that I did.

Posted

I can tell you at least it's not dark, moody or slightly depressing. It is filled with mystery but it is not depressing. Well, in my point of view anyway. It also depends on how you define depressing. At least there aren't a lot of character deaths like in Ryuki. Or is there? I wouldn't know since I'm only halfway through the series.

Started watching Garo finally and now i love it, like the choreography and the fact that they don't depend 100% on the transformations and fight a lot in their civil forms, the only thing that bugged me is that it dragged a bit at the start meaning that there was basically no plot and the ending was a bit too over the top for my taste on one particular scene.

The scene where Kiba is fighting Kouga on a rolling weel on the inside.

yeesh. I only saw part of the first episode of that. interesting intro.

agito is good then? I watched the second episode. I find it odd that this is tokusatsu yet the special effects seems minimal. I don't like it so far, I mean the special effects part, but the characters and story is actually intriguing. I think that I could watch this not as a tokusatsu, but as a drama.

or perhaps the action and effects improves over time?

Posted

Sorry to disappoint you, but the effects are minimal in this, and they concentrated more on the story and plot. The amnesiac Tsugami Shouichi actually builds up a lot of interesting questions. The actions are also short and not that grand, and is used only as a story telling device. There are a lot of civilian deaths though, which clearly shows the threat of the unknown to the public.

well that is good in many ways. it is not a toy commercial like recent series.

well, you know the part where the belt is not fully physical and is glowing from his waist, is really cool.

also, I have seen a sequence where the third guy is transforming, and looks very interesting. it was just like a zoanoid.

I too have a great fondness for Garo now. i didnt mind the plot development,it was there and got better as it went on but the action alone was worth watching it for as its probaby the best ive seen out of Japan in live action.

and i totally agree about that one scene, all of that sequencene was intense, i loved it, it was crazy but that one little bit was a bit grrrrr because..

the centrifugal force wouldnt allow them to just stand on its inside spinning, even if they would have just stood on something to slide on it as it rolled- i dont know what- but it would have made it a bit more believable

anyways

still on Boukenger. attack!

Did I tell you guys I'm watching Zenkai Girl?

it's really nice drama about a girl who was really poor as a child, studied hard to become a lawyer and is aiming for teh top, but she meets a guy, an 'annoying pill bug' who is not successful rich man but she finds that she is smitten by him. their relationship is one where they are pushed together by circumstance but she is such a stubborn woman she will not admit she likes him and things always get fraught and complicated. she is in a relationship with another guy but keeps swaying back and forth, thinking she should realise her true feelings but then something else happens to make her even more stubborn.

the cherry on the cake in this series is the children. I love seeing japanese kids in drama, they are always such incredible actors and for such a young age, is so impressive. a lot of the story is conveyed through the childs perspective. they see so much truth in the world around and actually pass on so much wisdom to the adults. it's so funny to watch.

can anyone help me please - im on episode 40 of Boukenger but ive realised i havent watched Boukenger vs. Super Sentai yet, so before i finish the series i waned to know whereabouts it fits in with regards to the series, if at all??

i ask because its easy to spot when to watch the 'movies' as they are advertised on the shows at the end, but i havent seen an advert for this.

should i watch it before the end of the series or after??

Also

when does Tokumei Sentai Gobusters actually begin???

gobusters has already started. episode 2 aired on sunday just gone.

I suspect there hasn't been much talk about it because tv-nihon hadn't released their fansub until last night.

I don't know about the boukenger vs super sentai movie, but I generally don't watch the movies. I don't feel they are important to the continuity of the series.

Our cable provider recently acquired a channel. Screen Red. I love that channel because it shows Japanese movies all day. Well, not limited to Japanese, but more on asian movies. The first time I had a glimpse of the channel, they were showing Kamen Rider the First. Just recently, I managed to watch a movie which I really liked. Love Come. It's a nice romantic movie that's very touching. It's about a guy who had a crush on this girl for 17 years, and deals with their relationship when they meet again after 17 years. Incidentally, the guy works as a script writer for an anime show.

Here's the trailer:

that looks really sweet! :)

I would watch it for sure, but I have a hard enough time watching drama at an hour long.

I end up watching anime and tokusatsu because it is half an hour. I need to somehow get myself a free hour instead of half an hour :(

I'm still watching zenkai girl. slowly. it is really good still.

got 2 more to watch i think.
