Toku Warrior Posted February 23, 2010 Author Posted February 23, 2010 Well, I thank both of you for taking the time to do that for me. Quote
*Kenji Murakami Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 I've been curious about this for awhile; how would you say Anti Chronos Task Force in Japanese? Quote
*Jess♥ Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 i'll give you some words. naka 中 - inside ue 上 - above shita 下 - below inu 犬 - dog tori 鳥 - bird kagi かぎ - key teburu テーブル - table ie 家 - house kuruma 車 - car implimentation - inu wa teburu no shita ni imasu 犬はテーブルの下にいます。 tori wa ie no ue ni imasu 鳥は家の上にいます。 kagi wa kuruma no naka ni arimasu かぎは車の中にあります。 some more interesting stuff i have been thinking about. 車 - kuruma, sha - car 電 - inazuma, den - electricity 話 - hanashi, wa - talking 自転 - jiten - rotation 電車 - densha - electric car - train. 電話 - denwa - electric talking - phone. 自転車 - jitensha - rotation car - bicycle. (and for a change, most of this was straight from outta my head, no reference. i must be getting good ) Quote
Guest Deka-RyuRanger-Red Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 tai kuronosu sentai. i believe. I always thought tai meant versus, as in abaranger vs hurricanger, they say abaranger tai hurricanger. I thought jaaku was dark, which could be used for anti, making it jaaku kuronosu sentai Quote
*Jess♥ Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 you're right about tai meaning vs. it's used in tai gaibaa, meaning guyver killer zoanoid, or anti guyver zoanoid, literally versus guyver zoanoid. however, i would agree that it may not be suitable here. i'm not sure about jaaku though either. that would suggest to me that it is a chronos squadron that is dark? i did a bit of research anyway and found the way to say anti-something - han. so it would be sentai no han kuronosu 戦隊の反クロノス or possibly han kuronosu sentai 反クロノス戦隊... Quote
durendal Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 "Tai" [対] can either mean opposing, against or anti, depending on how it is used. "Han" [反] can also mean anti-, but "han" is usually associated with the term "rebel". So a "Han Chronos Seifu Soshiki" [反クロノス政府組織] is "anti Chronos Goverment Organization". Additionally, "Han" is a much more serious term as opposed to "tai". So labeling anything with a "han" is already considered on the level of being traitorous. Also, "han" is never used as "versus". Also, combining the two together and you get "Hantai" [反対] or "Objection" An example of this term "han" is used in the old chinese propaganda "Fan Qing Fu Ming" [反清復明] or Rebel against the Qing and restore the Ming, a term used during the Qing Dynasty in China. A lot of Japanese terms has similarities in a single english equivalent, the only difference is the severity of how it is used. Quote
*Kenji Murakami Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 Interesting. How would that be rendered if it was in the manga itself? And how would the acronym ACTF be pronounced and rendered? Quote
*Jess♥ Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 actf would be pronounced much similar to english, I'll write it as i would understand it in japanese phonology. ei shi chi efu. heres a pic, first one is anti kuronosu tasuku foosu, and the second one speaks for itself. p.s. thanks durendal for the extra info. that makes me think it's even more suitable. Toku Warrior Posted July 10, 2010 Author Posted July 10, 2010 I can't remember if this was ever touched upon at an earlier time but here's a question. Which is the right way to say this? Sempai or Senpai? Many fan-sub groups use both versions but which one is the correct way? Quote
*Jess♥ Posted July 11, 2010 Posted July 11, 2010 senpai is more accurate in terms of transliteration. but both are exactly the same. as you would pronounce it, sempai is the most accurate english representation. in hiragana - せんぱい Quote
Toku Warrior Posted July 23, 2010 Author Posted July 23, 2010 Hey guys, I just recently DLed the 2nd OST for Kamen Rider Double and all the text is in romaji. *Jess♥ Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 1. memory of the ancient nation 3. melee extreme 4. stealthy investigation (?) 6. isaka's plan/ isaka's request/ isaka's passion 7. detectives cyclone (?) 8. puzzle of the outer shell X. (zaiden is a tough one, literaly 'outskirts-wraparound') 11. shudder of terror 17. the dark's invader. 28. the scampering of accel (heh heh, yeah it's a joke ) 30. accel's scornful laughter. (?) ok that's all that i might change. the (?) is where there is a lot of room for error. multiple possibilities for the words and with no kanji, no way to know apart from experience. Quote
durendal Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 I think having the original Japanese text would improve the accuracy of the checking. As you guys may well be aware, there are similar words with totally different meanings. Also, not everyone writes the same way in romanji. Quote
RazorLaser Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 Can I please have the kanji for 'Honour the Undead'. Quote
Toku Warrior Posted July 24, 2010 Author Posted July 24, 2010 (edited) Well, unfortunately, I don't have the booklet. I'd have to ask the guy over at HJU to see if he'd scan it for me then I could provide it here for better translations. Oh, wait. He seems to have re-uploaded the OST with the booklet and album art. So here are the pages with the kanji/hira/kata text. Edited July 24, 2010 by Toku Warrior Quote

*Jess♥ Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 yeah, I think it's gonna cause some issues when the person who converted that to romaji, exchanges 'ha' for 'no'. didn't really have a fighting chance did we? anyway.. i was just looking at that one, durendal do you think that could be 'harsh detective'? I'm just going from my dictionary programs, I've not heard the phrase before so I'm probably barking up the wrong tree. Quote
durendal Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 Could be, depending on the context. If the subject is the detective, then yes, it can be harsh detective. It could also mean that being a detective is harsh. But in this context, yes, I agree with you that it means Harsh detective, or detective is harsh. Quote
Toku Warrior Posted July 25, 2010 Author Posted July 25, 2010 Thanks guys. Well, if you aren't against it, I want to give him the translated tracklist so he can edit his tracks with the English titles. Quote
durendal Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 Like I always say, there is no point in posting things in a public forum if you intend to keep it private. Quote
