GuyverXenon
This pertains to art so I thought it might be best placed in this forum. If I'm incorrect I apologize in advance and ask it be moved to the appropriate forum section. "Art" is a broad term that encompasses any media where someone creates something that has only the function of entertaining people in certain ways. A funny short story, an emotionally moving picture or even a sculpture that may speak to you on an intellectual level. Anything that you create is art. With all this in mind I've seen some fantastic artists around this forum since I joined so very long ago. So many people have surged forth and refined their skills over the years that you may hardly recognize their earlier work. This has made me quite curious about how each of us produces in our chosen field of expertise. My process is kind of chaotic. I'm actually working on two pieces of Warrior Guyver fanart right now. One is more traditional, utilizing pencil, pen and paper. The other is entirely digital. For traditional art I use Pentel GraphGear 1000 mechanical pencils and 4h through 2b leads before switching to Prismacolor black inks that range from .005 to .08 This is all used on Strathmore acid free sketch paper. For digital art I use an Ipad2 32GB tablet and the art program Procreate. It's a cheap program with many of the same tools as photoshop so I can really let loose with my imagination. I'm curious what other artists on here use when they create their impressive work. Anyone care to share their weapons of choice and process? McAvoy
To be honest, I may not entirely fit the standard as I barely draw anything anymore but I use photoshop for most of my work. I am line drawing kind of guy. There is an example somewhere on the forum where I drew from scratch a Stargate SG-1 ship. I also do it with Star Trek but I cheat by using existing ships and heavily modify it (enough to make it look original instead of the cut and paste ones you see all over) but I do still give credit to th original artist that allowed me to use their original drawing as a jumping off point. However the rare times I do draw something outside of photoshop it is with pencil and paper and then scanned and then cleaned up. For example I have drawn Juggernaught, the WG2 version of Dreadnought many times and it was coloring and my overall fussiness that prevents me from showing it here. Same goes for the story. Always tinkering with it.
Matt Bellamy
I tend to use both pencil and paper and Photoshop with my tablet. For general sketching and designing, I usually find it easier to stick with sharpen-able pencil (4H) and paper (Sketchbook with a heavier style of paper). If I ever need to make lines sharper, I'll use a .5 HB mechanical pencil. when I used to ink things on paper, I had various sizes of Staedtler pigment liner pens. I never color anything on paper. When drawing on my PC, I use Photoshop and my Wacom Intuos 3, 9x12 tablet. I've been told there are better programs for what I do... But I am so used to it, I don't bother switching. And occasionally I will tend to doodle with just about anything available, usually when I am bored at work.
