Sully Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 I rarely do this as I like to give surprises myself, but I've being thinking about this Unit. At the moment as he's a decent bit off there story behind this character (called by the fan that came up with him Dark Star Guyver) hasn't really being given a huge amount of story. So I'm basically going to give you guys a chance to develop your own character that will use this unit and will be then brought into the fan-fiction. The moral compass that you give the character will basically decide how this character will go with future events. There is a few conditions that will bind your characters history. He'll come from one of 3 camps friends list. Basically (and this is giving away a little bit of the story) only a Warrior Guyver will be able to find this lost ship. That means that the character created has to be form the following groups or have friends with them or a decent connection. 1) ACTF. One of their new Warrior Guyvers or Warrior Guyver 2 / 3 can access the ship the retrieve the Unit. 2) Jason and his group of freinds. 3) Chronos. They have Warrior Guyvers too. So there you go. This will basically be decided by me. But I'll basically go with what the fandom decides. Have fun guys... though bare in mind this story won't happen until the re-write is finish and will be the next story after Story 9. Quote
Destroyer Guyver Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 Quick question Sully, have you already designed the Steller Warrior Unit or are we doing both host and unit. Quote
Sully Posted April 4, 2011 Author Posted April 4, 2011 Quick question Sully, have you already designed the Steller Warrior Unit or are we doing both host and unit. Design wise both are up for grabs. But bare in mind it's power level would be equal to the orginal Warrior Guyver / Warrior Guyver 2 / Warrior GuyverC. But it's abilities are for Space battle. So for example off hand it's unlikely to have sound based weapons and more range than a normal Warrior Guyver. Apart from that go for it. Forgot to add, for me another deciding factor is how complete this character is and how well he fits in the story. This post wont be decided in a week / month but I would like to put the human host / zoa form host of the story into the re-write so the characer can develop in the rewrite (so basically the human part needs to be done before Time War is complete as the character whoever she / he is will be in the Union storyline). Also if you think you're the next Matt and want to draw the character and go all out and colour etc that ok too. Quote
Destroyer Guyver Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 Thanks Sully right time to plug my imagination in and get designing. As for the drawing part, sadly my "skills" have atrophied very bady so I wont be attempting a pic any time soon. Quote
Sully Posted April 4, 2011 Author Posted April 4, 2011 Thanks Sully right time to plug my imagination in and get designing. As for the drawing part, sadly my "skills" have atrophied very bady so I wont be attempting a pic any time soon. Being honst that is just a bonus. What I'm mainly looking for a good character. What the person beleives are (now while some people might not say they have them, the fact is they do, even someone who doesn't beleive in God still has some belief in them in whatever it is they think responsible for their existance.. even if it's poof 4billion years later the right conditions lead to mankind and eventually me... that's still a belief even if you just happen to follow science!), what is your characters moral compass, who is responsible for it? Does the character have family, are they still alive? Have some of them joined Chronos or if the character is in Chronos do they have relitives on the other side in ACTF? All these types of things need to be considered. Quote
Destroyer Guyver Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 (edited) *Edit* more or less done unit removed actual done unit incoming Subject: Humanoid Space Combat Type Warrior Class Guyver Code Name: Stellar Warrior Guyver Host Name: Dorian Morden Sex: Male Age: 19 Eyes: Amber/Yellow Hair: Black Height Human: 177 cm (~5.8 Feet) Height Armoured: 204cm (~6.7 Feet) Weight Human: 62kg (~136 pounds) Weight Armoured: 335kg (~737 pounds) Status: Enemy of Chronos and Former Member of the ACTF Description: Subject is a recently discovered Warrior Class Guyver unit that appears to have been optimised for space combat and possesses the ability to move at FTL speeds in addition to powerful long range offensive capabilities. Present estimates of this Guyver type’s ability have been compiled and summarized below. -Physical Strength: Subject has the strength of 400 men. -Power System: Unit is powered by a standard HSL system granting the subject unlimited stamina. -Speed: Ground Max=600MPH Flight Max=3750MPH. Unit can generate a low level spatial distortion field that can increase subject’s normal maximum flight speed by a factor of ten. Reflex speed is over double that of other Warrior Units at 80-400 times that of a normal human due to the requirements of heavy space combat. -Durability: Subject's bio-armour is twice as durable as a standard Guyver's, with the ability to adapt to attacks such as Enzyme acid, and is enhanced by a body shaped shield aura, an extra secondary shield protects subject's Control Medal, that allows subject to survive anything up to a full double mega smash level attack with minimal damage and can reinforce subject's physical integrity when necessary. Use of subjects Stellar Blast Field allows him to withstand attacks in the 3-5 kiloton range. Rate of regeneration is ten times that of a normal Guyver. -Infrared Laser Orbs: Unit has three head lasers each 10 times more powerful than a normal Guyvers. Weapons have demonstrated superior range to those of other Warrior Units allowing the subject to easily snipe most opponents from up to a hundred miles away. -Railgun Pods: Subject has small railgun pods just below his hyper sensors. These weapons are similar to those possessed by the Creators Kavzar caste warriors, but fire noticeably larger and denser projectiles causing them to inflict significantly more damage per shot although this does reduce their rate of fire to around half that of the Kavzar’s weapons. -Stellar Blast Field: Units blast field has been modified to generate extremely powerful spatial/dimensional distortion fields that allow the Subject to move with incredible speed and agility, under normal conditions subject can achieve speeds of up to 5 times the speed of light however, in an unobtrusive environment such as space he can move at far higher speeds approaching several thousand times the speed of light. Unconfirmed reports indicate that subject may also be capable of using the unusual properties of his blast field to manipulate space producing effects ranging from jamming all forms of communication and sensor systems including Guyver and Zoalord methods, through to blocking teleportation and even disrupting HSL power systems all out to a range of 15 miles, when combined with the units formidable offensive capabilities this makes the subject an extremely dangerous opponent. -Maelstrom Bomb/Cannon: Subject can unleash the spatial/dimensional energies of his Stellar Blast Field as either an omni-directional explosion or focused beam blast, both attacks have the power of a 5 kiloton explosion and their unusual energies make them utterly devastating even to heavily shielded beings. The only limitation to this attack is that it temporarily deactivates the blast field for several moments while it recharges leaving the subject without his extreme speed or enhanced defences. -Orbit Cannons: Subject has a pair of large pods on his back that contain his primary weapons, twenty remote operated bio-weapons that are armed with high-energy phased particle beam cannons that fire blasts with fifteen times the power of a Guyvers pressure cannon and which can effectively ignore most conventional shields allowing the subject to very easily kill all but the most powerful of opponents. The unit assists the host with controlling these weapons allowing all twenty to be deployed at once against different targets without any detriment to the subjects own fighting abilities. -Gravity Control Orb: Subject can fire pressure cannons with four times the power of a normal Guyvers and up to ten times if boosted by the units Stellar Blast Field. Subject can also produce single handed mini-pressure cannons at a rate nearing that of a Zoalords gravity bullet attack. -Hyper Blasters: The pods on the backs of the subject hands/wrists each house three hyperspace energy based weapon emitters that can produce either large beam blasts with the power of a Guyvers single mega-smasher cell per pod or rapid fire explosive armour piercing pulses powerful enough to kill hyper class zoaforms with ease. -Mega Smashers: Units mega-smashers are standard for a Warrior Unit however the units Blast Field can be used to double their power. -Particle Blasters: Subject has eight compact mega-smasher type particle beam emitters located above each chest plate, on either side of his waist and two pairs on his lower legs. The combined fire of all eight blasters in comparable to that of a Guyvers single mega-smasher. These weapons are optimised for long range attacks and are normally used together with units Hyper-Blasters. -Plasma Busters: Subject has a pair of plasma shockwave emitters that are four times more powerful than a Guyver’s sonic disruptors, radius of attack ranges from 10-180 degrees. These weapons are primarily intended for use as a form of close range defence, incinerating anything that gets too close for comfort. -Teleportation: Subject can teleport through hyperspace like other Warrior Guyvers however if necessary the units Blast Field can be used to dramatically increase the effectiveness of this ability to the point where subject could travel intergalactic distances with ease. -Hyper Sensors: Units sensors are similar to other Warrior Guyvers but posses a far greater range of approximately 15 miles and up to more than 100 miles if the subject uses his Orbit Cannons as sensor relays. Hyper sensors also posses’ enhanced scanning speed and multi target tracking abilities. -Control Medal: Unit has a pyramid shaped Control Medal that is composed of four partial C-Units that have been combined to produce a more powerful parallel processing Unit. This explains how unit can function at such high power levels without the added C-Unit layers utilized by the Gigantic type. -Other Powers and Abilities: Subject has the ability to turn invisible, or like a Chameleon, can appear to be just about anything, as well as project holograms. Special Note: -Intelligence: Subject is a phenomenally intelligent young man with an I.Q estimated to be in the 195+ range, he was able to complete an intensive university equivalent education before he was 13 years old achieving multiple Masters level degrees in a variety of engineering fields including aerospace, structural, electrical, vehicular, chemical and architectural. In addition to English subject is fluent in at least 15 languages including French, German, Spanish, Celtic, Gaelic, Latin, Russian, Japanese and Mandarin. Subject possesses a form of eidetic memory or “perfect recall” that allows him to remember almost any event from his life as though it had only occurred a moment beforehand. Finally Subject has demonstrated incredible multi-tasking and information absorbsion abilities. Edited April 6, 2011 by Guest Quote
Azaar Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Hmm, interesting. I might be interested in taking a shot at this, myself. I like Matt's Stellar Guyver drawing a lot, and it seems very fitting for the concept. If you're wanting a data file submission, I can do that. Right now, I'm thinking perhaps ACTF camp, though the specific affiliation would be with Cori and Sean -- mostly Cori, for reasons pertaining to the live-action Guyver: Dark Hero. I'll brainstorm a bit, and see what shapes up. Quote
Sully Posted April 5, 2011 Author Posted April 5, 2011 i wouldn't get too cought up with powers... I'm looking for character, not powers though thats good in an overall package don't make the mistake of just focusing on that. Quote
Destroyer Guyver Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Agreed Sully the charcter is far more important than any number of flashy abilities. Although in my case I designed the Units powers and weapons around the proto-personality I've started developing for the host so they fit quiet nicely together, at least from my point of view . Quote
McAvoy Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Flashy abilities aside. Your character has an very high IQ, perfect memory recall and knows a bunch of languages. I mean you should tone down the character. He is a near Mary Sue. All he needs is that he singly handedly took down ten Bio Titans with nothing more than a rock. He then went to the Village of Bumdumpy where he engaged the local game of football and took on the reigning champs by himself. After the game he took home the entire cheerleader squad. The next day walked in the Generals office and demanded a Guyver unit. The general cowered and gave him a Warrior unit. He would have given him Dreadnought's unit if he could. I think, unless this unit is given to a zoanoid, the characters back history before he got the unit, what he is fighting for and who he truly is should matter much more than some sort of meta human. I mean a normal human can do great deeds without special abilities. He could have been medicore at best before the war and could have shined later on. Or he could be a warrior scientist. Quote
Destroyer Guyver Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Yes the character is exceptionally intelligent but most of his "talents" are focused on engineering and a number of related scientific fields, he doesent know everything about everything(in spite of what he may claim) and is more than fallable even in the area that he excells in. He wont be figuring out how a Matrix works by looking at it for 5 minuets, he could throw out a few theroies about how it works after being told what it does but it would take him years to come up with anything concrete. He was part of the ACTFs intelligence division when he worked for them (unwillingliy) and was usually either decoding information or passing it on to where it was needed. As for taking 10 bio-titans, even with his intelligence lets just say that while he is capable of fighting he's far from the best at it which is why he prefers ranged combat and support roles. I used to design characters for table top rgs so Iam very wary of making mary sue types. My characters tend to have one outstanding attribute but be only average in others, in Dorian's case its his mind. Quote
jedi-guyver Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 This is my very BASIC attempt at the SWG and will be updating it over the next couple of weeks as time permits. Let me know what you think of wormhole function Subject: Humanoid Space Combat Type Warrior Class Guyver Code Name: Stellar Warrior Guyver Host Name: Ezekiel “Zeke” Medik Sex: Male Age: 22 Eyes: Blue Hair: Brown Status: Member of the ACTF Description: Former college baseball pitcher before the war, Zeke joined up with the ACTF after his campus was destroyed in an early Chronos attack. Has since been training in the use of the Blue and Green battle suits and even witnessed the arrival of the Kavzars that gave the Acaear units to the ACTF. Zeke was recently given the Stellar Warrior Guyver unit by Stephen Cain aka Warrior Guyver 2, has begun to test out the limits of his unit Present estimates of this Guyver type’s ability have been compiled and summarized below. -Physical strength is at least four times greater than that of a normal Guyver and equals the approximate strength of 400 men. The unit also possesses unlimited stamina due to an HSL (Hyper Space Link) power system that gives subject unlimited energy reserves. -Speed: Running=0-450 MPH with a max. of ~600 MPH / Flying=0-770 MPH with a max. of ~3,750 MPH. In unobstructed space however, Stellar Guyver can reach flight speeds of 20,000 MPH -Durability is roughly twice that of the standard Unit but is further augmented with body shaped energy shields (which also double as a structural integrity field that helps body withstand stress and physical damage), with a secondary shield protecting the Control Medal, and a regeneration / healing factor that is approximately ten times faster than a standard Guyvers recorded norm. The armor has also shown an immune type response to biological attacks. The subject can also use a blast shield, normally produced by all Guyvers upon activation, at will and can combine it with other defenses to ward off even Mega Smasher class attacks. -Infrared Laser Orb: Subject head beam orb has exhibited an energy output ten times greater than that of a normal Guyver's and can be lethal to even hyper class zonaoids. Combined with Units more advance targeting system, allows subject to accurately hit targets up to a hundred miles away. -Subject has three gravity control orbs and can rapidly fire single handed Pressure Cannons at rate approaching that of a Zoalord Gravity Bullet attack, or double handed Pressure Cannon blasts of up to 4 times the power of a standard Guyver's. Subject can also focus his total gravitational power into a single Pressure Cannon with ten times the power of a normal Guyver's.. The unit has also shown the ability to rapidly fire single handed mini pressure cannons at a rate approaching the capacity of a Zoalord Gravity Bullet attack. -Hyper Smashers: The Subject's Mega Smashers now function like a Gigantic Guyver's Hyper Smashers and are able to generate an equivalent blast, but can also fire in half the time and maintain beam for a full ten seconds per blast. -The units possesses a single pair of vibrational swords that are composed of polymorphic material that allow it to morph into a variety of shapes and sizes at the users will. The full range of these weapons abilities have yet to be determined but they have shown superior strength and tolerance levels than that of any other known vibrational weapons except for the Guyver Zoalord which was able to break them. -Hyper Sensors: Subject's hyper sensory preceptors have a range slightly greater than a Gigantic Guyver type and have been inferred to give host a wider range of sensory enhancements. The exact range of these hyper sensors have been estimated to be around 500 meters (~1640 Feet). -Control Medal: Unit has a pyramid shaped Control Medal that is composed of four partial C-Units that have been combined to produce a more powerful parallel processing Unit. This explains how unit can function at such high power levels without the added C-Unit layers utilized by the Gigantic type. Wormholes: Subject is designed for space travel and combat and as such is able to create wormholes for interstellar travel. As a result Stellar Guyver can create a wormhole around himself in the shape of his body allowing him to increase both his defensive and offensive abilities. Any attack that hits this shield of sorts will simply be teleported away or warped around him. Additionally he can create invisible wormholes around his enemies to attack them from virtually any angle, from practically any place. For example, if he were a mile away from his opponent, he could generate and fire a pressure cannon through his wormhole, and hit the target as if he were right in front of him. This also allows him to get around most shields, as he could create a hole behind the shield. -Other Phenomena: Subject has the ability to turn invisible, or like a Chameleon, can appear to be just about anything, as well as project holograms. The Unit has also shown the ability to enter Hyper space without deactivating and taking host along with it for either teleportation or to regenerate from a battle, even if Unit had appeared to have been vaporized. Sully Posted April 6, 2011 Author Posted April 6, 2011 Guys too much focus on flashy powers not enough character basically. Remember he's a Warrior Unit. That already comes with some restraints on his powers and more so power levels. But from what I've read you've not focused enough on that he's designed for space battles, but you guys then go and use sonic weapons.... guys vacum of space = sonic weapons are useless... So he'd not have them. Remember Star wars, Starteck etc are all fantasy... there wouldn't be any cool sound effects if that was real as... sound can't travel in the vacum of space as there is no air. In fact given the raw size of space battles and the unlikely hood of that battle being close this character would be almost purely ranged. E.G. The Prug'stall of the Warrior Units. Super smart sounds great in theory... But then you've to plan out what the supersmart character will do. Which isn't easy. Remember I'll have to write this character into my story from what you guys base this character on. Just simply saying this man is a great marksman and a natural killer would make him more writeable without having to think of genious senarios for him to play out to show that he's supersmart. It also gives him an ability that puts him into the story, a marksman could even support Guyver US with his high powered rifle at a distance. Also even Dreadnought would have trouble with 10 bio-titans.... Even more so together and as shown to Zeus a lot more so if Drano is evnvoled. A human in armour getting a Bio-Titan body count would be rarey than me winning the Euro millions jackpot twice. From this point on, forget about powers, the Unit etc. Just focus on the host. How your character would fit into the story. The character will be in Story 1, possible story 4, and then story 5 and wrote into 7 Days when it gets it's updated. So how would you think your character would fit into those stories. What would your character contribution be? Is it just a cameo, is he joking with friends in the canteen? Is he a Merc fighting in Brazil? Etc etc. Quote
Destroyer Guyver Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 Err Sully neither me or Jedi have sonic weapons on our units, mine has short range wide angle plasma shockwave emitters for close in defense but thats it. Dorian's intellect only really becomes apparent when engineering is involved most of the time he would come accross as "very bright". Quote

Vibrational swords work by sonics. The swords vibration causes a sound barrier of sorts around the blade that disrupts the object in front of it. The sword itself never makes contact with the object it cuts. It's cut before it even gets there. But without air the weapon is useless. Hense why in the OVA when Guyver 1's sword clashes with Thancrus' we get that bad sound effect... Quote

Sully Posted April 6, 2011 Author Posted April 6, 2011 Ahem bugger I stand corrected errr redesigning. Tip - Forget hand to hand weapons, he won't have them. the idea for him is you're already dead before you can get to him. Tip 2 - Don't worry about powers, read the edit to my post above about your character long long before he became a Guyver. I want how that character fits into tha fan-fic. How you'd fit him into story 1 (Union), 3 (Revenge), 4 (Resuce) and 5 (All Things). What would be the realistic roll your character could provide and basically how would you maximise cameo time if he's simply just saying "HI". Quote

Destroyer Guyver Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 (edited) Ok charater wise, Dorian was born in England (Newcastle specifically) but came to America with his family when his father started to expand the small but relativly successful R&D company he owned. When Xday hit they were all stranded in America and eventually got involved with a small anti Chronos group (mainly financial support). Unlike the rest of his family Dorian isnt a fighter (he did learn how to use a rifle quiet well though) so tended to take a supportive role in the groups activities usually either helping to plan attacks or acting as "mission control", this is why he's able to speak so many languages as not every member of the group could speak decent english Dorian had to learn a few more to make communication easier (and he learnt a few more when he was working as part of ACTF intelligence). The group that Dorian and his family were involved with was at its best little more than a nuisance to Chronos that managed to raid/destroy a few warehouses, there greatest accomplishment was killing a group of would be hyper zoanoids when the were in transit to a processing facility. When Chronos found out that Dorians parents were supporting a resistence group they retaliated in typical Chronos fashion, by killing every family member and friend that the Mordens had left back in england. The ACTF formed shortly after this and what was left of the resistence group decided to join up, with Dorian and his family being placed under ACTF protection. Edited April 7, 2011 by Guest Quote
Vengeance Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 Blood slowly crept across the floor of the massive mainframe control room. For a room that was suppose to be dedicated to the simple storage and processing of encrypted data it had certainly seen its fair share of violence in the last several minutes. While cries of terror, screams of anger and the slowly gasps of inevitable death had echoed through the room only moments before now all that could be heard was the gentle hiss of the air-conditioning system as it did its best to keep the massive computers from overheating and losing the precious data they retained within their metallic frames. Yuri Boyka took a moment to wipe the blood off his combat knife before quietly slipping it back into the sheath at his back. A quick moment to check his gear allowed him to access the situation. Currently he still retained his anti-zoanoid pistol, a scaled down and upgraded design of the prototype weapons the ACTF had designed for use against the low-level zoaforms a short time ago. While he ammunition was limited he still had enough to make the weapon useful should the situation arise. Along with the pistol and his knife he had several high explosive grenades and two flashbangs. Neither of the grenade types he carried seemed to have little direct affect on even low level zoanoids he might still find a use for them after he completed his assignment. In addition to the armament he also had in his pockets several portable data hubs which where key to his mission. The building shook for a moment and Yuri instinctively spread his feet more to absorb the energy and keep himself standing effortlessly on the balls of his feet. As he looked around at the various technicians that now they lay dead or dying on the floor he realized just how contrasting their appearance was to his own. While the men on the ground appeared to be typical Americanized slobs Yuri's body appeared to be forged from solid steel. Hard muscles where draped across a compact form that while they belied an impressive strength they where crafted to avoid being excessively bulky and possibly interfering with his movement. His skin was a mixture between heavily tanned from a recent operation in Columbia to the gentle fading back to his typically pale tones he usually displayed. His face had been remade so many times he had a hard time remembering what it looked currently but he did know that it was designed through thousand of compiled images to be as "normal" or "bland" as possible. Anyone staring him directly in the eyes would be hard pressed to pick him out of crowd minutes later no matter how pressured they might be. His hair currently was in his favorite style, a short military mohawk with the rest of his head shaved clear down to the skin. The one feature he would never allow anyone to change though where his eyes. A piercing cobalt blue they seemed to have the effect of transmitting the bitter winter cold of Siberia, his homeland, into anyone he forced to stare within their icy depths. A flash of light from down the hallway caught his attention and drew him back to the task at hand. With a gentle grace he slid across the room as he stepped effortlessly over several bodies as he moved in front of the mainframe's main access point. He reached down and opened a pocket on his thigh and retrieved the first of three portal portal hubs and connected it to the mainframe. A nearby screen displayed the process of the data being being transferred to the portable hub and a rough estimate of the time it would require to finish the process. Yuri ran the numbers in his head and determined that he should be able to extract himself from the room and the building before anybody even knew he was there. More flashes of light and screams came from the same hallway and he knew the that his well provided "distraction" may be moving ahead of schedule or simply faster then the analysts had believed was possible. Most men might curse this possible turn in luck or begin to worry about being discovered Yuri was not most men. The possible discovery by Guyver US was simply another piece of data in this assignment and when it came time to deal with this deviation from the plan he would in the most efficient manner possible. This aspect of his personality wasn't something he had been born with but instead it had been engraved into his very bones through years of rigorous training and indoctrination. He swapped out the first hub for the second and checked the timer on the screen to ensure it still ran smoothly. The data continued to transfer over and before he knew it he was putting the third and final hub into the mainframe. The transfer was complete and Yuri secured all three hubs back into the same side pocket that had been retrieved from. He moved outside of the mainframe and took a moment to grab the three high explosive grenades from his belt and with a practiced ease from an action he had performed thousands of times over he lobbed the three grenades into various parts of the room. He slammed shut the door to the room just as the explosives went off. The extreme concussive force and heat from the explosions within the tight confines of the room would destroy almost every last piece of computerized storage within the room. With the cover of this being a guyver attack on a Chronos outpost the zoalords would chock the lost of the mainframe up to the guyver and would never be the wiser that tremendous amounts of valuable information had been stolen from right beneath their noses. He moved at a pace that somehow crossed between a run and a jog without making his movements seem frantic. As he passed down several halls and familiar doorways he kept close attention to anything that might come from around a corner and thankfully he did. Before he even realized why he ducked beside a stray file cabinet. It was good that he did because a heartbeat later two figures came out from a side room moving back towards the mainframe. The first figure was a standard technician complete with a shoulder bag filled with equipment and tools and seemed to be quite unnerved by the situation. The second was a lumbering hulk of teeth, fur and claws that had been classified as a Ramoth. They where standing between Yuri and the final doorway he needed to exit through and picked this as the most opportune time to stop and chat at the water cooler. "Come on meat," the Ramoth growled at the smaller technician, "this place is practically coming down on top of our heads." "Hey!" the smaller man responded, "Not all of use where blessed with an eight foot tall frame, incredible strength and unwavering stamina. Considering how far we've run already to retrieve the data on the mainframe you can give me a second at least to catch my breath. One of us has to be the brains of this assignment after all." The Ramoth glared for a moment and flexed his claws like he was prepared to rip the human's head from its shoulders but managed to keep control of itself. "Fine but hurry up. Last thing I want is to run into that Guyver that's tearing apart the others." The human leaned against the wall and took a moment to steady his breathing. Yuri didn't have time for this, his schedule was closely dictated and he was dangerously close to falling behind. Without another thought he drew the anti-zoanoid sidearm from its sheath and stepped out from behind the file cabinet and fired a round at the hulking beast. His unfamiliarity with the weapon caused the shot to go slightly astray and instead of drilling the beast directly between the eyes it caught a glancing shot to the side of the head. It stumbled back as Yuri felt the vibration from the discharged travel up his arm and into his shoulder. Not wanting to risk another single handed shot with the powerful weapon he raced forward. The human turned and stared at him with eyes that expanded to the size of dinner plates and didn't even try to run. Yuri curled the fingers of his left up so that they pressed against the top of his palm and with a surge of strength he slammed the heel of his palm into the upper lip/nose of the man's face and the power of the blow transferred upwards driving the sinus bone clear up and into the brain. He spun around and found the Ramoth holding its damaged skull and growling in pain. Before it could strike Yuri took the pistol in his right hand and land up a clear shot with the proper bracing he needed before the next shot tore through its brain and killed it. Within moments it had already started to dissolve but by then Yuri was already past the remains and out the door. Yuri raced out into the night and could see the fires burning all around the outpost Chronos had desperately tried to set up off the grid and away from detection of the ACTF. It had been a previous assignment of Yuri's that had located this outpost and gave the ACTF a perfect target for their guyver to wipe off the planet after he retrieved what he needed from them. Yuri now ran at full speed through the night. His vision even in the dark was impressive and he moved across the open wilderness with ease avoiding stray branches, small divots and stray rocks that could normally give someone a fractured ankle moving at the speeds he was. He took several quick glances at his watch which displayed his longitude and latitude. As soon as he was at the assigned location he scanned the ground and found a stray piece of rope in color that matched both the darkness and the ground. Unless someone knew to look for it they would never have spotted it. He wrapped the rope around his fingers and with a heave he pulled out the bag that had been buried. He quickly stripped down to his bare essentials as he removed his black ops clothing and replaced them with a standard issue Army uniform complete with a name tag and color brass that denoted him the rank of corporal. He retrieved the three hubs from his previous set of pants and thanks to some judicious use of duct that was also located in the bag he secured each one to a different spot as he hid them on his body, one on the inner thigh, another on the small of his back and the third he placed in the bag he had retrieved. Yuri placed the clothes, weapons and the hub into the bag and placed it back into the ground before he piled the dirt back over the bag. Someone else would retrieve the bag after he left and with the hub within it ensured at least some of the data would make it back to the ACTF should he be captured. Yuri broke into a run again as he raced towards a different set of coordinates. As he traveled over the ground he saw the lights of the helicopter as its pilot landed gently onto the open plain. He approached from the north side of the helicopter and without a word he slipped onto the bird. The crew jumped slightly but had been expecting him so they said nothing as he appeared seemingly from the darkness that surrounded them. He wiped the sweat and dirt from his face and did his best to control his breathing and blend in with the rest of the flight crew. From the south side of the helicopter appeared a creature that could have been from one of the tales of demons and monsters that consumed small children his mother use to tell him when trying to convince to be a good boy and not misbehave. The being was shaped like a man but he could tell clearly it wasn't. From the report he had read this had to be Guyver US. One moment the monstrous figure stood before him, the next was accompanied by a flash of light as suddenly the armored form disappeared and standing before him was man who could barely be considered more then a child. The face of the boy denoted a seriousness to him that Yuri recognized as someone who had seen things that would either break a man or forge him into a true warrior. Apparently the boy had gone through fire and come out tougher for it. As he was scrutinizing he noticed the boy was staring back. He decided to say something to avoid seeming suspicious. With a skill he had practiced time and time again he buried his native Russian accent and replaced with more of a southern drawl that seemed to be considered standard for most military men. "Mission accomplished sir?" he asked with genuine curiosity. Guyver US, whose real name he didn't know, stared at him for a moment before taking a heavy sigh as he responded. "Yeah," he said with almost a look of relief, "Chronos certainly will be upset at the lost of this outpost. Although what they where trying to hide it still unknown." Yuri glanced over his the boy's shoulder and caught a glimpse of the carnage and destruction Guyver US and brought onto Chronos. "Well sir," he said with a soft grin, "I sure am glad you're on our side." Sadly enough that might have been the most honest thing Yuri had said to someone in a really long time. ******************************************************** Yuri had remained silent for the rest of the helicopter flight back to main ACTF Headquarters. Once he had debarked from vehicle he mingled about for a moment and went through several meaningless tasks like unloading the chopper before finding the opportune moment to slip away. As soon as he could he presented himself to his handler and was taken to be debriefed by General Carter himself. The General presented himself as a military man who had spent his entire life in dedication to his country, a devotion Yuri could certainly respect. "So Mr. Boyka," General Carter began as he read over Yuri's file. While this wasn't the first assignment he had performed for the ACTF this was the first meeting with its leader and some would say its heart and soul at the moment. When the rest of world had run around like chickens with their heads cut off carter had made the decision to stand his ground and fight against an enemy he couldn't possibly defeat. It was this courage that brought Yuri into his service through an agreement between the ACTF and his home country. "Well it says here you certainly have an interesting back ground. Born in Siberia on a collective work farm you spent most of your life in what many people would consider hard labor. By the time you where sixteen you lied about your age, not a hard thing to do considering how in shambles the infrastructure of Mother Russia was in at the time, and joined the military. You showed skill as a marksman and received special training as a sniper. This combined with a life time of surviving in one of the harshest climates on the planet made you an expert in getting into the difficult areas to nail targets no one could seem to even find. While you don't have a perfect record you do still have an impressive success rate none the less. Seeing you as an asset you where transfered over to the intelligence division where you began training in black ops. At this point a lot of the information about you is blacked out and apparently your government doesn't trust me enough to give us that information. Needless to say once "X" Day occurred they decided your skills could be put to better uses here and contracted you out to us. So far you've done exceptionally well Mr. Boyka." Without another word Carter closed the file and simply seemed to stare at Yuri for a moment. Yuri kept his gaze but after a moments thoughts realized the man was waiting for him to speak. "Da, what you say is true enough." he had no need to hide his true accent from the man who knew more about him then anyone else in this entire country besides his handler. "But you did not call me into dis room to discuss what you read in file." Carter smiled and crossed his hands together, interlocking his fingers as he leaned forward. "Correct. As I read your file I see a man with incredible skill and who has proven to be an asset to both myself and the ACTF. Now with the addition of Guyver US to our ranks I find that you're usefulness could grow but I have some concerns. While I want to use you and I have absolutely no desire to place my trust in some soulless Russian killing machine that doesn't even have a conscience. Is that what you are Mr. Boyka because I need to know before we can move forward together in our attempts to defeat Chronos and free both my country and yours." Yuri contemplated the words the General had said and found himself respecting the man even more as they continued this exchange of words. "Many people see those trained by my government as mindless drones. They see our devote loyalty and willingness to serve as making us 'soulless' as you say. This is far from truth as we take our love and pride for our home and use it as fuel for the fire that burns in our hearts and allows us to justify what we do. We do as asked because we know it is necessary but we are far from the monsters some make us out to be. I assure you General that I am far from an emotionless robot, far from it indeed. I simply know when the time for my emotions are needed and when they are not. Now your choice to trust me is your own but I assure you that should you do so it will not be one you will ever come to regret." OOC: Just an attempt to show you what I had as an idea for a character. If you like it I can post up my datafile for the guyver unit later. Lemme know either way. Quote
Azaar Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 Okay, for better or worse, my offering: Background: Gabriel Kelso was never a physical specimen of manhood by any stretch of the imagination -- something that routinely earned him bullying from the guys who were more the athletic jocks throughout school. Between that and the fact that girls were attracted more to the big, strong manly types, Gabe found himself more and more an introvert as his early years progressed and he made his way through junior high and high school. The fact that he was adopted and never knew his biological parents was just the tip of the iceberg for explaining his introverted nature; the bullying and ridicule from his “peers” only further reinforced those introverted tendencies. His only chance was to run when he saw them coming -- sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn’t. When he wasn’t at school or on the run from the bullies -- something that translated into a growing interest in the art of parkour, he immersed himself in cyberspace -- as a result, he was self-taught when it came to computers. Programming, computer repair and upgrades, the works -- Gabe made a point of learning it all, and during his teenage years began his own local business for people needing work done on their computers. But all of that ultimately became a cover for his nocturnal activities, becoming a fledgling hacker and making his own sort of “justice”. It began with changing grades on the school computer system so that the bullies found themselves in a quandary with being able to play in their chosen sports. In each case, Gabe felt justified in his actions, protecting himself from the worst of the ridicule by keeping them away. When he was finally caught, however, he admitted to what he had done, and the reasons why he had done it. A schism formed at that point: some saw him as a danger to businesses, banks and more (though the investigations revealed that he never planned or made any such attempts, and had indeed limited his hacking solely to pursue a sort of “justice” against his bullying oppressors -- he hadn’t even changed his own grades, not that he needed to); others saw him as a sort of local hometown hero for finding his own way of standing up for himself against bullying, even though they admitted that the manner in which Gabe had acted was rather unorthodox. It meant the end of his teenage computer repair/upgrade business, for the most part -- some people still came for his help, but most of his business dried up because of the rumors (unsubstantiated as they were) that he was stealing information from his clients -- but his affinity with computers was enough to where he had attracted notice, and so the California Institute of Technology took a chance on him. Gabe accepted, and made the cross-country trip from the mountains of North Carolina to Pasadena, California to begin his collegiate career. It was there, while studying computer science, that he first met Marcus and Cori Edwards. Marcus and Cori, in a very real sense, became a second family to Gabe -- particularly after a drunk driver collided head-on with his adoptive parents, killing them instantly. They talked, shared stories, and bonded as Gabe was drawn more and more into the “outlaws of science” world. Things seemed almost idyllic, up until the Tempus Group came calling and offered funding for the coming Utah archaeological dig. Their persistence concerned Gabe enough to where he decided to start doing a bit of snooping around. What he found was disconcerting: Tempus Group was a front for Chronos Arizona. Chronos didn’t seem like the type to be funding archaeological digs, and so he started digging a little deeper. It didn’t take much to find how the sudden move to fund Edwards’ proposed Utah dig was coming shortly after the downfall of Chronos LA, but that information was running into a brick wall. That meant the government. That meant more drastic measures. Caught by the FBI when he hacked into their network, Gabe wound up talking with Atkins, and explained the reasons behind his intrusion: it was not out of maliciousness, but a sincere concern for the safety and welfare of two people that were the closest thing to family he had. They worked out a deal: Gabe would get Atkins onto the dig team and be an informant, and in return no charges would be filed against him. Gabe agreed, got him onto the dig team, and then sat back to wait and see what unfolded. Time passed, summer was closing in, and Gabe decided to pay the dig site a visit, after not hearing any updates from either Marcus or Cori since the beginning of the “bear attacks”. Halfway there, he received a call on his cell phone from Atkins: the government was going in and taking down Arlen Crane and the Tempus Group personnel on-site. Worried about what might happen to Marcus and Cori, Gabe pushed on to make it to the dig site and get them away before everything hit the fan. He missed Cori departing with Sean Barker by nearly half an hour, coming upon the cleanup with Atkins. It was at that point that Gabe found himself in custody once again... but this time, it was protective custody. Atkins was taking no risks that Chronos Arizona would discover Gabe’s identity, if they hadn’t already, and while he didn’t like having to take Gabe in, Atkins realized it was the only way to protect the young man, especially after Gabe saw the makeshift funeral cairn that had been made for Marcus Edwards. It was only after Sean and Cori joined the ACTF that Gabe was reunited with Cori once again -- now, though, Gabe was working R&D, helping to develop security software to protect the ACTF against wanted cyberspace intrusion. At that point, his focus shifted, and Gabe began working with Cori to better understand Uranus and Gen technology, and expand on the theory of how both races developed their technology. (( Note: I have some thoughts for how Gabe could bond with the Stellar Unit. The intent, regardless, would be to try and highlight Sean and Cori a bit more, which means ideally I would want to use Warrior Guyver US for this. )) Personality: Quiet and reserved, almost to the point of unassuming at times. Gabe is someone who wants to do what’s right, though recent events with the ACTF have him questioning just how far his employers are willing to go for the sake of humanity -- “the ends justify the means” is a saying that keeps echoing in his mind, and it concerns him greatly, especially with the nature of Jason O’Connor’s abrupt departure from the ACTF and his subsequent rogue status as Dreadnought. While he likely would know of Jason and his group in the periphery, the primary reason behind his affiliations with the ACTF are the presence of Cori and Sean -- Cori in particular, since he sees her as pretty much the only family he has left. Aside from his interest in computers and in analyzing the alien technology from both the Uranus and the Gen, Gabe’s only other serious passion is in the art of parkour: the times he spent running from the bullies growing up meant building his endurance to outrun and outlast them. Parkour simply allows him to take that to the next level, by using the environment around him to best effect in maintaining his own running and keeping ahead of those who meant to do him harm. It helps him develop good spatial awareness of his surroundings -- something that will prove useful in bonding with the Stellar Unit. As far as Gabe’s moral compass goes, he’s perhaps best described as “neutral good with chaotic tendencies” (to borrow D&D’s alignment scheme). He has his moments where he’s willing to justify taking steps by hacking computers against the enemy, but by and large he does try to hold some respect for the law. Still, recent events bother him greatly -- like the dropping of a nuclear weapon over Australia to end that recent battle. He viewed it as overkill -- granted, not having ever faced zoanoids and the like before colored his perceptions. Gabe is very much the type to root for the underdog. More and more, however, he sees humanity as the true underdog. Chronos Corporation is a shining example of “the ends justify the means”; the ACTF, in some ways, isn’t much better because of a growing militarization and focus on getting the biggest and best weapons. And above it all, the Gen (and by extension the Federation) and Grakken are making humanity’s collective lives miserable by adding more fuel to the fire by giving away more units. That, perhaps, is what worries Gabe the most about being bonded with the Stellar Unit -- he doesn’t want it (and really, most don’t seem to want it). The power of it is both exhilarating and yet frightening to him, because he is all too aware of how power can corrupt... even if it’s only being physically stronger than the other guy. In a very real sense, Gabe is the Peter Parker or Kyle Rayner of the Warrior Guyver universe: he doesn’t want the power, doesn't even like having it... but finds himself compelled to accept that it is his destiny to wield that power, and that with the “gift” of that great power comes an even greater responsibility to use it wisely. Just as important is the fact that Gabe wants to protect humanity for their own sake: protect it against Chronos, even though most of the world has been misled and sees them as a would-be global savior; protect it from the Gen and Grakken, who have made no secret of their continuing interest in Earth and manipulating humanity from afar; even protecting humanity from the ACTF, should Gabe learn for certain just how far Carter and the rest of the ACTF brass have gone in using Chronos’s own zoaformatting tactics against them. To Gabe's mind, humanity shouldn't be manipulated in any way -- willing or not -- to fight someone else's wars for them. And in the end, humanity's survival as a species hangs in the balance. Why protect humanity if they're just going to be monsters when they come out the other side? Does it matter whether it's genetic engineering in the vein of Chronos and the ACTF, or whether it's simply dropping Guyver test units without a care for who bonds with them or the moral compass those people have, like the Gen? Or even destroying humanity to take the units that were either "gifted" or left behind by the Gen and their Uranus forerunners, like the Grakken seem to want to do? Just look at the Guyver Mercenaries, out only for their own self-gratification and power. Most everywhere he looks, Gabe sees the same sort of mentality: everyone looking out only for themselves, or letting emotions like greed and revenge cloud their judgment. With all that around him, perhaps that's the greatest surprise of all: that Gabe has the strength of will to take that sort of stand... even if it means he stands alone against the fury of everyone around him. Destroyer Guyver Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 Sully I noticed you mentioned that Dorian's intelligence would cause problems for you to write, now I have no problem toning it down but if possible I'd like for him to be decently above average simply because Dorian's mind was the reason that he was essentially conscripted by the ACTF to work in their intelligence division, which would in turn lead to him meeting some of the members of Jasons group allowing him to eventually become host of the Stellar Unit. Sully Posted April 7, 2011 Author Posted April 7, 2011 Azaar and Vengance sorry but I've not had enough time to read your posts fully but will reply later. Sully I noticed you mentioned that Dorian's intelligence would cause problems for you to write, now I have no problem toning it down but if possible I'd like for him to be decently above average simply because Dorian's mind was the reason that he was essentially conscripted by the ACTF to work in their intelligence division, which would in turn lead to him meeting some of the members of Jasons group allowing him to eventually become host of the Stellar Unit. Yes mater, above average intelligence is fine. Just lets not have a supermind here that can without a Guyver unit in his Blue armour (never mind V2) can somehow magically kill Bio-Titan's. Those things are killer's, nothing really short of a Guyver can take one on without backup. It wouldn't take much to be conscripted into ACTF. Leading any type of anti-Chronos force would be enough. ACTF at the point of Union is in bad need of raw manpower. Being a supermind wouldn't be needed at all. Now if you mean ACTF BEFORE X-Day that's a different matter. But you'd need to go into a lot more detail as to why. Being Anti-Chronos before X-Day would need a lot of story, more so to explain how the character even knew of them and survived. Quote
Destroyer Guyver Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 Okay I'd already started revising him a bit based on what others had said, is this more acceptable? -Intelligence: Subject is a highly intelligent young man, having degrees in both mechanical and structural engineering. Prior to its absorbsion by the ACTF subject was a member of a Chronos resistance group where he acted as the tactical planner and operations controller for their activities. In addition to English subject is fluent in at least 5 other languages. Subject possesses a form of eidetic memory or “perfect recall” that allows him to remember almost any event from his life as though it had only occurred a moment beforehand. Finally Subject has demonstrated incredible multi-tasking and information absorbsion abilities. The version of Dorian I'm working on now is less focused on pure intellect but still bright enough to be conscripted for his mind and actually has some decent fighting abilities especially when it comes to sniping.
