Juggernought Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 Hey Zeo, have you heard anything on the US military developing the tech whereby pilots control the ****pit/aircraft with nothing but their thoughts? I know there would be a lot of problems with that, but i figured they would at least explore that area as well. Quote
*zeo Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 Yes and no, development in that area has been pretty slow though they've made advances in HUD interfaces and some limited thought control features (primarily for targeting assist). Problem is thought control tech hasn't had much of a breakthrough in quite awhile but the military isn't the only ones working on it so even with the current recession and consequental R&D budget cuts we should see something new in the next few years. After all, as can be seen in my other news threads thought control devices in video game tech is already starting to show up and they are developing ways to monitor your thoughts without wiring electrodes directly into your brain Quote

*zeo Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 Yes, much appreciated Brian. It's an interesting analysis but the guy is no stealth expert and he's made predications that turned out false before but it all depends how many corners the manufacturers cut when building the F-35's, physical structure is only one factor in stealth technology. Russian Radar technology also isn't as effective as he was making it out to be but another possibility is he may be a little biased since he was promoting the Australian alternatives. A good read though, the F-35's are just now starting to see active use so we'll be able to tell soon exactly what they are and aren't capable of. . . Quote
