Mutronics Posted August 18, 2004 Posted August 18, 2004 I have in my possession a recording of Guyver Dark Hero that is different to the US and UK cut of the film (both of which i own). A friend recorded this off the UK scifi channel a few years ago and i watched it out of bordem. At that time i only had a copy of the UK cut and I noticed that it had around 10 minutes extra of footage I orignally beleived it to bne the american cut of the film. I imeedatly copied the tape and after a few months later I ordered the US cut off amazon. After watching thwe american cut, it seemed like i have a version not sold in the UK OR US. Its basically got most of the secenes from, the US cut that aren't in the UK cut.A strange sort of hybrid. So i would like to know what region this version is from so i can see if i can track down a legit copy to add to the collection. Any help would be appreichated. To help i listed a few differences in the cutting of the film. 1. Although this version has scenes not in the UK version, some scenes were left out as well. Namely the scene whjere sean leaps off the cliff and transforms. Instead it simply just cuts to the guyver running up the lake and completely removing the scene. 2. River fight is entended from uk version, wit hscens fro mthe US cut. Same for the female zoanoid/atkins fight. 3. Nightmare scene is included. Where as it isn't the UK versioin (shame really) 4. Copry/seanm kiss is included, yet isn't in the UK version. 5. The drug lord bleeds longer than in the UK version. 6. I'm pretty sure a zoanoiud fight was pretty much cut right down. To where you just see the klilling blow. (uncnfirmed) 7. Doesn't include cory talking about to her friend, and she indicated hes a little "unhinged". 8. Includes the really cool guyver running the alien relic POV shot before the zoanoid goes flying out of the entrance. This scene is not included in the british version. Thoes that first comes to mind when i try and recall about it there are a few odd couple of second shots that were not in the UK version but were in the US version that i may have missed. Quote

Well, this mostly sounds like the version I have (I'm from Australia) Though with point 4, the Sean/Cory kiss, is that right at the end? And point 3, the Nightmare scene, what part of the movie was that in again? (My video player has been packed into storage because we're moving soon and I can't watch Dark Hero or any of the Anime T_T!!) Quote
WarriorZoalord Posted August 18, 2004 Posted August 18, 2004 The nightmare scene i believe was at the beginning of the movie, right after he attacks the drug lord dude and put "guyver" up on the wall with his head laser, first you think he's watching TV, but it turns out that THAT was the n"nightmare". Mutronics Posted August 18, 2004 Author Posted August 18, 2004 I beleive they kiss at the end as well... Riven, Is your version missing sean leaping off the cliff? Quote
guyverfanatic Posted August 18, 2004 Posted August 18, 2004 The live action Guyver movies came out yesterday on dvd here in the US. So, now we won't complain about owning editted versions. Quote
*zeo Posted August 18, 2004 Posted August 18, 2004 Most likely you just got an edited for time version Mutronborg. I haven't seen the DVD release yet so I don't know if even the US version is totally uncut. I was fortunate enough to catch the movie in its initial release during a canned film festival in New York City. So I remember scene details that were not included in the New Line Cinema video release. If they just ported the movie to DVD then the movie is still a cut version. Though most of the missing scenes were just shaved seconds off the movie. Like during the Guyver Zoanoid activation scene, originally it showed the tendrils oozing over the zoanoid as the unit activated right after he said Biomorph. The video release only showed the transformation take place off screen as Sean and the others watched. I just hope the DVD release will be the directors cut or at least have extras that include the deleted scenes. Quote
Guest Posted August 19, 2004 Posted August 19, 2004 .Riven, Is your version missing sean leaping off the cliff? Of course, I can't picture any version without that scene ; It rates up there with Sho jumping off the school and transforming ; Quote
Mutronics Posted August 20, 2004 Author Posted August 20, 2004 oh, you guys misunderstand me. I collect ALL the different versions of the live action movies. I now own 5 different version of Dark Hero and 3 of thge first film. NOW this tendril sliding scene interests me. You have this copy i take it zeo1234? Quote
*zeo Posted August 20, 2004 Posted August 20, 2004 No, what I said was... I was fortunate enough to catch the movie in its initial release during a canned film festival in New York City. which means I saw it in a theater! As far as I know they never released a fully uncut version to video. I haven't seen the DVD release yet so I don't know if this has changed yet. Though I hear the laser disc, I'm talking about the record player sized discs that no one uses anymore, version had everything including extras. Quote

I've been meaning to pick up those laser discs, apparantly the japanese versions contai na lot more material than the american versions... something to add to my wish list... Quote
Sully Posted August 23, 2004 Posted August 23, 2004 Saw them both today. Guyver: If you've seen Mutronics you've seen all of this apart from one part. At the very start of the movie it gives you the movie version of the history of the Earth and Chronos. Guyver 2: To a person who has only seen the UK version this is great. Total time 2 hours and 3 minutes. Includes the scene with Sean breaking up with his ex girlfirend. The nightmare where he becomes the Guyver. Cori talking about how Bio research of the bio-ship can help human kind grow what we need to cut down polution etc and basically how great it is. For those who thought it a mystery why Cori allows Sean on the dig site there is a simple reason in a scene where she talks with a firend and describes him as been cute. After that there are a good few other little added scenes that add to the overall movie which just makes you think why did some idiot sit down and cut it for the UK release. Quote
Armageddon Posted August 24, 2004 Posted August 24, 2004 Now that the DVD's are out, were they everything you expected and anxiously waited for? I just got mine in today. (I Pre Ordered them.) They were mostly what i remembered seeing years ago on the Sci-Fi channel, except for a few scenes. Damn it's good to see them again after all these years. Armageddon. Quote
