*Jess♥ Posted June 16, 2004 Posted June 16, 2004 I do apologise if this topic has been covered before. What first got you into the guyver? Why do you now love it enough to frequent this message board? For me it all started when i was twelve and my brother saw an advert in a magazine for a new video series called guyver. he bought the first ep and though it was ok. I watched it and thought "Not bad". Then episode 2 came out. For a 12 year old kid in 1992 there were a lot of good cartoons like he man, thundercats, etc. there were none where the opponent was the same as the hero yet more skilled. This just blew me away. The design alone of guyver 2 was awesome with the dysfunctional medal and the mental fighting skills. and then the moment when sho overcame a far superior adversary! Wow i get goosebumps as i write this! From that moment on i was obsessed! Quote
Guest Posted June 16, 2004 Posted June 16, 2004 I had just gotten into Anime and I had watched all the anime at my local video store and the only serise I hadn't seen that they had was the Guyver, and I will admit, at first I wasn't all that impressed because they only had the first four eps. I only really started to get into guyver after realizing that the movies (the second one I love more then the serise) were made after the serise and after I stumbled upon a certain website ^_~ Quote
daveblackeye152 Posted June 16, 2004 Posted June 16, 2004 When I was about ten I caught Joe Bob Briggs hosting Monster Vision (How I miss that ) He hosted the american Guyver movie which I thought was SO cool . So I kept watching that and Guyver:Dark Hero for several years until one day in my comic book store I saw the first six episodes of the show on sale. I bougt the first tape with the first two episodes, loved it, bought the second two the next day. About two months ago I "celebrated" the first annviersary of buying and reading the comic books (I just had a marathon of what comics I had in a year) If you're wondering why I like Panadyne so I'll tell ya (NO! Please don't!). Guyver I vs Panadyne was the first comic book Guyver battle where Guyver I had some trouble and gave us a good fight (Well the first issue I read I only had issues #1,2,6, Anyway the anime made me a bigger fan and the comic books made me a EVEN bigger fan. My other favorite Message Board is badmovies. org whenever I tried making a topic about Guyver I'd get few repsonses. So I set out to find a message board that was chalk full of people like me. And here I am (Wow! Look dad it even has a scientist zone.Cool!) Quote
gall_4185 Posted June 16, 2004 Posted June 16, 2004 I was always a star wars fan as a kid and one weekend was staying with my Grandmother when we went to the local Blockbuster's. I saw a film with Mark Hammil in it and asked if we could get that. Lo and behold my Guyver obsession was born,to the point where my costume the following Halloween was Sean Barker. It just kinda developed from there Quote

BloodStorm Posted June 16, 2004 Posted June 16, 2004 Letsee, My first experiance with the guyver was when I was little, my dad would always take me to BlockBuster on Friday evenings, and we'ld pick up an anime to watch togeather. One faithfull day, He picked out the tape with the first two episodes of guyver on it, and asked me what I thought. At first I was skepticle... I thought it looked stupid.. How wrong I was.. (sniff) I still can't beleave my first opinion of the guyver was "Looks like just another guy in a goofy bio-suit" But now look at me.. I'm another hopeless fan.. And Darn proud of it! Quote

Shame no pictures exist of that costume Quote
Guest Posted June 21, 2004 Posted June 21, 2004 Well, I have a lot of the old Viz Guyver Mangas, seen the anime before, and the films as well, when I was probably 5 or so, I have been a guyver fan for quite a while now, and my brother is too, and I was quite suprised that the guyver fan base was this big. So yes, i'm a old time fan, and i'm only 14, and gonna be 15 next month, so now you know the whole story. Thank You. Quote
guyverfanatic Posted June 21, 2004 Posted June 21, 2004 I became a guvyer fan after my buddy showed my the Guyver anime like 5 years ago or so. and I read his volumes of The Guyver. I was hooked! Been a fanboy ever since. Quote
Guest Posted June 21, 2004 Posted June 21, 2004 Lets see here, I started watching the anime Guyver what I was three I believe, then I saw the movies, then the pictures, then I came to know and love the Guyver series. Quote
Guest Posted June 23, 2004 Posted June 23, 2004 I rented the anime when I was about 7 or 8. Never been the same since. Quote
Guest Posted June 24, 2004 Posted June 24, 2004 For me it has always been about commitment. Takaya has stuck by his creation for years now and he still continues to do all the drawings and writing. I honor that by being a loyal fan. I just love everything the Guyver is about. I mean sure the movies were low budget, the anime didn't last long and Viz dropped the title. But I am still here, the good thing is that I am not the only one. Quote
Guest Posted June 25, 2004 Posted June 25, 2004 One day I went over to my friends house and he had just rented one of the Guyver tapes and was watching it. I asked him what he was watching and he said Guyver. I thought it looked cool so he put on the first episode and from the moment I saw the Guyver come out of the lake and kill gregole with its bare hands I was hooked. I only wish they continued the series. Quote
Armageddon Posted June 26, 2004 Posted June 26, 2004 I think I was about eight years old when my obsession with the Guyver first began. I can't really remember many of the details, but I believe it all started with me seeing the first movie on TV. Being so young at the time I thought the Guyver was the coolest thing I've ever seen. A few years after I saw the first movie, the second one came out. That's how my obsession came to be. A few years ago, I got my first taste of the Anime and it continued from there. Though, shortly before I discovered the anime, I discovered this site and my obsession was furthered. During my tenure here I've learned much about the Guyver, and hope to learn even more before I leave. Armageddon. Quote
Guest Posted June 26, 2004 Posted June 26, 2004 I first got in to the guyver when i was about 14 and i was bord on a sat afternoon. i turned on the sci-fi channle at my grangmother's and saw this movie with power ranger type custumes. I watched it and thought it was pretty cool. Later I made friends with one of my best friends now and he showed me the anime and the comics. It was awsome. What really got me in to the fandom was Bio-weapons and Warrior Guyver. I think i printed all of these guys data files and used them in various practice drawings. It really made me a great fan Quote
omegaling Posted June 27, 2004 Posted June 27, 2004 The first time I saw the Guyver movie was about the same time as the Mighty Morphing Power Rangers first aired (back when it was good). In all honesty, I thought the Guyver looked like a super buff power ranger, and that's what first snagged my attention. After that, it was not so much the Guyver that held my attention, but the Zoanoids. I've always had a thing for people who could transform into other things and creaturs, so the series pulled me in. Guest Posted July 29, 2004 Posted July 29, 2004 Well years ago after watching Akira in the cinema (1992 I think), I stumbled in a VideoGames magazine over some cool fan artwork of Guyver One, it fascinated me. Some years later I found the Videos and shortly thereafter the manga. After some years in meddling in other boring manga stuff (Dragonball, Kenshin, Berserk, etc.) I finally returned to Guyver after seeing a Guyver One Statue painted by a master artist in some hidden stash in the comic/RPG shop where I work, well I did some quick internetsearch, bought the complete Japanese. manga in a Japanese. Bookstore next city and here I am Quote
Mutronics Posted August 18, 2004 Posted August 18, 2004 I had seen ads for the series in a a comic book and thought the series looked really strange, then Dark hero came on sci-fi. only cought the end but i watched the next showifg and was blown away by its unique story of a lone, tortured desperate hero. Series was shown on sci-fi a year or so later, i caufght the last 4 eps and thoguth that the censored cut they showed was great, a friend lent me his Data 1-4 tapes and fopr my 12th birthday i bought the entire series bar opne tapoe which weas in my posession by the next month. Its a up and down begging but a beginning none the less. Now i collect any guyver junk. Quote
