Anet is calling Guardian a new profession (even though its actually several GW1 professions combined) and they say of the remaining three professions, one more will be new. Also according to one of the lore writers, the Pale Tree, from which the sylvari come, is an intelligent life form and it watched the human and the centaur who longed for peace grow old and die not seeing peace in Tyria. She could not communicate with them but she took Ventari's tablet and held in in her roots. As the sylvari are growing she teaches them some basics about the world, including how to read the tablet. The First Born of the sylvari are considered the most wise of the sylvari and are respected as leaders and teachers. At least one of the First Born has turned bad however, Faolain is a leader of the twisted Nightmare Court.

On Guard! Introducing the Guardian Profession - official reveal of the Guardian Exclusive Interview with Lead Designer The web site is German but this link leads to the original English interview. This interview was actually posted before the Guild Wars 2 website was updated with Guardian. Guild Wars 2 Guardian replaces Monk - interview with Eurogamer. Short a longer interview is coming. This artical was actually posted before the Guild Wars 2 website was updated with Guardian. I'd say the Guardian combines elements of warrior, ritualist (weapon spells) and paragon (shouts) rather than monk. The Guardian is a solider profession, wears heavy armor. So far they stuck with the pattern of revealing scholar, then soldier, then adventurer. So mesmer is not likely to be next reveal unless they break the pattern. There are no more soldier professions. One scholar and two adventurers left to reveal. I'm disappointed the skill videos feature humans again. Still no sylvari or norn. All professions are currently in the game but not all professions are equally polished and they won't reveal them until they area.

Don't know why but they allowed PCGamer to post a new picture and the news that the next profession is Guardian and that it will appear on the official Guild Wars 2 web site Thursday, January 27th. No details about the profession were given. I don't like the name but won't decide whether to play one or not until I know more about it. All we know is that Logan Thackeray (descendant of Keiran Thackeray and Gwen Thackeray) is a Guardian. In the book Edge of Destiny, he used a war hammer and produce a blue aura that blocked arrows. He could also do some minor healing which has lead to speculation that Guardian is the Guild Wars 2 version of a Paladin. And the end of the book he switches from hammer to sword, the reason for which would be a spoiler.

Fifth profession will be revealed in January. Anet has not given the exact date. Although the 2nd Guild Wars book, "Edge of Destiny" is not actually due out until Tuesday, I understand Amazon sent copies out already. Supposedly, some characters in the book are refereed to as mesmers so many people assuming new profession will be mesmer. This book is set before the events of the previously released book "Ghosts of Ascalon", about 5 years before the time of Guild Wars 2. Apparently the members of Destiny's Edge take on the Elder Dragons, and lose. They survive however and players will meet them in Guild Wars 2 and will be instrumental in reforming the disbanded group.

For players of the original Guild Wars games adding achievements to the Hall of Monuments in Guild Wars: Eye of the North will unlock rewards in Guild Wars 2. The rewards are mostly cosmetic, Arennet doesn't want to give GW players an unfair advantage over totally new players. Rewards include mini pets, weapon skins, armor skins, additional pets for rangers and titles. The article includes a rewards calculator. You enter a Guild Wars character name and it tells you what rewards that account (not just the character) has coming. Note: after adding to the Hall you have to exit out of Guild Wars in order for the database to update before you can recalculate your points.

About level 30 characters will be able to enter the catacombs of Ascalon (a dungeon) where they will encounter the ghosts of GW1 skill trainers, now hostile and dangerous bosses.

A Rewarding Experience – John Hargrove Talks About Loot Some people upset that Transmutation Stones will be something you have to buy with real money. I'm not. These micro-transactions take the place of subscription fees. And the Transmutation Stones are similar to Guild Wars 1 costumes which change your appearance but not your armor stats and have to purchased if you want them.

Character placement is important. My understanding is that hitting enemy from behind increases damage done, for example. In GW1 standing on above an enemy and shooting down could increase the damage. Shooting up hill reduced it. There's also a bug I hope they don't have in GW2. Standing on a bridge range weapons and missile spells can be obstructed. They shouldn't be but they are.

Godzilla, Mothra, King Ghidorah was one of the worst Godzilla movies ever. Only one worse than it is Godzilla vs Biolante.

They sometimes post news on Wednesday. They didn't this week. Just a blog entry about their being at PAX, which was dated September 1st but was actually online August 31st. Most likely will not be another profession reveal until October. They may talk about other parts of the game before that, although these cons tend to keep them busy and since PAX is in their own backyard wouldn't surprise me if they don't get any work done at all.

Destiny's Edge: Those five characters seen in the races video are former members of the same guild, Destiny Edge. They once adventured together but have drifted apart. Their story will be told in the book Edge of Destiny. It will be the goal of player characters to reunite Destiny's Edge in the battle against the elder dragon Zhaitan. Logan Thackeray is a human. He is the is the commanding officer of the Seraph at Divinity's Reach. He's a decedent of Guild Wars: Eye of the North characters Keiran and Gwen Thackeray (currently in Guild Wars those two have not yet married, in fact Lt Keiran Thackery is missing and Gwen has previously rebuffed all his romantic overtures.) Rytlock Brimstone is a Tribune of the charr Blood Legion. Eir Stegalkin is a norn, once considered a great hero among the norn but fallen in their eyes for some as yet undisclosed reason. The original asura member was Snaff, something must happen to Snaff as it his apprentice Zojja who is seen in the video. The final member is Caithe, one of the sylvari "first born". A very mysterious character, even the voice actress isn't sure if she's good or evil. As of now we do not know what professions any Destiny's Edge member is. The Orders: At some point in the personal story each player character will be given a chance to join one of three multi-racial orders. Joining one is not mandatory but not joining one will apparently stop the personal story from progressing. After joining one it will be possible, with some difficulty to switch to another. Trying out all 3 will apparently not be possible however. Each order has different ideas about how to deal with the elder dragons. The Order of Whispers is the oldest of the three. First encountered in Guld Wars: Nightfall, the Order of Whispers was originally tasked with keeping the undead lord Palawa Joko imprisoned for eternity, they found it necessary to release Palawa Joko in order to gain his help in defeating the evil god Abbadon, but in doing so they ultimately brought great harm to Elona anyway, as Palawa Joko eventually conquers it. Apart from the dwarfs, only the Order of Whispers knew of the existence of the elder dragons and prepared for their awakening. The Order of Whispers does not believe the elder dragons can be killed but instead seeks a method to put them to sleep once again (seems to me that would only push the problem onto another generation.) Durmand Priory is an order of monks (not to be confused with the GW1 profession) who collect and guard ancient knowledge. When Lion's Arch was flooded the Order of Whispers rescued many books and scrolls bringing them to the Durmand Priory. The Durmand Priory believes the secret to defeating the elder dragons exists somewhere in ancient texts. The Vigil, founded by a charr who lost her warband when the elder dragon Kralkatorrik flew overhead, transforming all below, including her soldiers into unrecognizable monsters. Somehow General Almorra Soulkeeper was not affected. She founded the Vigl to fight the elder dragons forces wherever they be. The Vigil is the newest and most militaristic of the orders, believing that the elder dragons become more powerful with each passing day and that those who do not fight them now are betraying the future. General Almorra Soulkeeper was one of the first charr to seek peace with humans, knowing that the none of the five races can stand alone against the elder dragons. Evil groups among the 5 races: Although Zaithan the elder dragon is the primary villain of Guild Wars 2 there are of course many other hostile creatures to face. Each of the five races in fact has its own evil group to deal with. For the humans its apparently the White Mantle. In Guild Wars: Prophecies the White Mantle were human cultists who worshiped "Unseen" gods. These Unseen were in fact the Mursaat, not gods but merely powerful magic users with the ability make themselves invisible to those not gifted with True Sight, naturally player characters after a series of missions become gifted and can see and kill the Mursaat. The White Mantle loses a civil war to the Shining Blade, a group of Krytan royalists who seek to put the last known decedent of the former king on the thrown (and who worship the five "true gods"), that's she's born to the king's mistress and not his wife does not seem to bother the Shining Blade. Unable to defeat the White Mantle and the Mursaat on their own the Shining Blade turned to foreign heroes (Player characters from Prophecies are Ascalonian refugees thus foreign to Kryta, Factions and Nightfall player characters are foreigners from over seas). Centuries later a decent of Queen Selma reigns as Queen. But the decedents of the original White Mantle still hold a grudge and secretly plot against the crown. As far as anyone knows the Mursaat were wiped out, although one dying Mursaat claimed he would return seeking vengeance. [in the original Guild Wars players are lead to believe the 5 gods created Tyria and that the oldest living creature on Tyria is a dragon named Glint. This belief is not held by the other races and is apparently in fact a lie. Glint is only a youngster compared to the elder dragons and far less powerful. In fact the elder dragons existed before the 5 gods (now 6) who did not create the planet but merely terraformed it with humans. Guild Wars: Nightfall introduces a 6th forgotten evil god who is ultimately defeated, by humans, and replaced with new presumably friendlier goddess, however by GW2 time the 6 gods have left humanity to stand or fall on its own. The humans still worship the 6 and do gain some racial abilities from them, but the 6 are apparently not going to offer any other aide, which is typical of them.] For the charr the evil group is the Flame Legion or Gold Legion as the other charr have renamed it (to the charr gold being a soft metal is not fit for making weapons and therefore of little value so being called Gold Legion is insulting) still plots to gain control over the other charr. Instead of worshiping other creatures the Flame Legion now worships a charr named Gaheron Baelfire, who must have gained some powerful ancient magic to convince them he's a deity. For the asura the evil group is the Inquest, a group of asura who see the Eternal Alchemy as simply a machine which they intend to control, their experiments are even less ethical than those of other asura. For the norn the evil group is the Sons of Svanir (named after Guld Wars: Eye of the North character Svanir who fell under the spell of a sleeping dragon) who worship the elder dragon Jormag as the ultimate wild spirit. (Svanir was hunted down by a mixed group of humans and norn (dwarves and asure too if you brought those heroes) and ultimatly killed by his own sister, Jora.) For the sylvari the evil group is the Nightmare Court. The sylvari are guided by their "Dream of Dreams" which unites them. But some dreams are nightmares. The Nightmare Court embraces the dark side and seeks to corrupt the Pale Tree herself in order to turn all sylvari to their side. Player characters being heroes may not join these evil groups (unless we're allowed to infiltrate them to destroy them).

I eddied my first post to include more about the races. I may have gone too far into lore. Skill bar: Before I go into professions I should explain that Guild Wars 2 will feature a 10 skill bar (the original game's was 8). The first five skills are determined by profession and what weapon set your character has equipped, ie a long bow in the hands of a ranger will give different skills than a long bow in the hands of a warrior. If a character is holding a two-handed weapon then all 5 skills come from that weapon, if holding two different weapons in each hand then the first 3 skills come from the main hand weapon and 2 from the off hand weapon. Sometimes a character may come across some object in the persistent world they which to pick up. Picking up that item will temporarily change the character's skills. So for example if you are in a bar and you pick up a bottle one of the choices is to put it down again, once is to drink the contents of the bottle, another is to hit somebody over the head with it. If you hit another player over the head with a chair the chair will break leaving you a chair leg which has its own skills. After the weapon skills there are 5 other skill slots. One of these slots is reserved for a healing skill. Every character must carry at least one healing skill because, get this, there are no dedicated healers in Guild War 2. Anet does not consider sitting around waiting for a healer to come along to be having fun, that's just preparing to have fun sometime later. One other slot is for an elite skill which has great effect but cannot be used often. Now this may at first sound limiting but actually its not. Each profession now has more weapons and most can swap weapons in the middle of combat so its very flexible. Also some skills once used change into a different skill so instead of 10 skills you actually have 11. In some cases that 11th skill once used turns into skill number 12. A skill chain of 3 skills is apparently the maximum. Also its possible for different professions to combine their skills. For example an elementlist casts wall of flame. A ranger shoots his arrows through the flame resulting in burning arrows which do more damage. Profession: Anet has announced that there will be 8 professions, some from Guild Wars will be returning but expanded, some so drastically changed that the will be renamed some supposed to be totally new to Guild Wars. The 8 professions fall into three categories each of which is defined by what armor they were. Scholars were light armor, adventures medium armor and soldiers heavy armor. In the original Guild Wars each profession was limited to its own armor. In Guild Wars 2 there is no profession specific armor, all scholars will have access to all scholar armors for example. Some one did ask, and Anet answered, no a character cannot were armor lower than its type, no soldiers in adventurers armor or adventurers in scholar armor. When not in combat it may be possible for player characters to wear "town clothes". This makes sense since nobody would wear their armor 24 hours a day. There will be 3 scholar professions, 3 adventurer professions and 2 soldiers. To date four of the eight professions have been revealed, all professions previously available in the original Guild Wars, but with a greatly expanded choice of weapons. In order revealed the 4 known professions are elementalist, warrior, ranger and necromancer. That leaves 1 scholar, 2 adventurers and 1 soldier to be revealed. If Anet follows the pattern the second soldier will be next, IF they stick to this pattern. Elementalist: see sample skill vidoes here - note the videos are adjusted to show skills at their best, enemies are set to low health so they die fast The elementalist is a spellcaster specialising in magic based on the elements of air, earth, fire and water. Outside of combat elementalists like all professions can change their weapons and their utility skills, but once in combat elementalists cannot change weapons instead they change attunement. When attuned to an element an elemetalist gains skills related to that element, so attuning to fire gains fire based skills. All attunements have a special effect as well. Attuning to fire sets the elementalist aflame so that any enemy touching him takes fire damage, attuning to water causes healing to nearby allies, attuning to air causes nearby foes to repeatedly receive jolts of electricity, attuning to earth provides the elementalist with extra protection. Attunements are in addition to the elementalists other skills. Elementalist weapons are: two-handed: staff (long range spells) one handed main hand: scepter (close range spells), dagger (medium range spells) one handed off hand: focus (close range spells), dagger (medium range spells) Notice an elementalist does not use daggers as melee weapons but for casting spells, also notice then elementalist can dual wield daggers some other professions cannot. Warrior: see vides of sample skills The warrior is a master of weapons, relying on strength, agility and heavy armor for survival. While primary a melee (close combat) profession in the original Guild Wars, in Guild Wars 2 the warrior can also function effectively in ranged combat. Where the elementalist has attunements as its special mechanic, the warrior's special mechanic is adrenaline. The more adrenaline the warrior uses the more powerful his attacks become. Warrior specialize in skill chaining, when one skill is used that skill changes to another skill, use that skill it changes once more. If the warrior does not want to follow the chain using a skill not part of the chain will rest the chain back to the first skill. An example: warrior with sword uses Sever Artery which causes bleeding, the skill changes to Gash, which if used will cause more bleeding (reducing enemies health). Gash turns into Final Thrust. After using Sever Artery the warrior decides to use Pommel Strike instead of Gash, breaking the chain sending the first skill back to Sever Artery. Warrior weapons: two handed: hammer, great sword (new weapon), long bow (new for warrior) or rifle (new long range weapon) one handed main hand: axe, sword, mace (new) one handed off hand: shield, axe, sword, mace, warhorn (new) In the hands of a warrior the long bow shots flaming arrows, the warhorn buffs allies. Warrior can duel wield sword, axe or mace. During combat the warrior my switch weapons between two weapon sets. Ranger: see videos here The Ranger is described as jack of all trades and master of them all. The rangers special ability is the ability to charm pets. In the original game a ranger could have only one charmed pet at a time, in Guild Wars 2 a ranger can have up to three pets altough normally only one is active and earning xp at any time. There is a special skill that calls forth all pets for a short period. Rangers also good at setting traps and summoning nature spirits to buff allies. During combat a ranger can switch between two weapon sets. Ranger pets come in three types, terrestrial, which can only function on land, aquatic, which can only function underwater and amphibian which can function on land or in water, most are amphibians (even if not realistic for them to be as Anet wants rangers not to be too limited by where they are). Ranger weapons: two handed: long bow (long range), short bow (short range), great sword one handed main hand: sword, axe one handed off hand: axe, dagger, torch (new weapon), warhorn The ranger uses the warhorn to buff allies or to summon a flock of birds to attack his enemies. A ranger can dual wield axes but not swords or daggers. A ranger throws his axe but uses sword in melee. A ranger's sword, axe, longbow and warhorn skills are not the same as the warrior's. Necromaner: skill videos The necromancer uses dark magics to harm his enemies. A necromancer uses his weapons not to melee but to cast spells. A necromancer can summon undead minions to attack his enemies. The necromancers special ability is sucking the Life Force out of his enemies in order to enter his "Death Shroud" a state in which the Necromancer gains a new set of skills. Unlike the elementalist who cannot change weapons once in combat a necromancer can switch between two weapon sets in combat. Necromancer weapons: two handed: staff one handed main hand: scepter, axe, dagger one handed off hand: focus, dagger, warhorn A necromancer uses the warhorn to daze his enemies or to summon a swarm of locusts to tear them apart. A necromancer can dual wield daggers. The Death Shroud ability transforms the necromancer into a spectral form in which Life Force replaces health and in which the necromancer gains new abilities including the unique ability to cause Fear. An enemy in a state of fear runs away from the necromancer. Fear is a condition lasting only two seconds and like other condition can be removed, so it won't be over powering in PVP. Death in Guild Wars 2: Playable characters who run out of health do not die in Guild Wars 2, instead they enter a downed state in which they gain new skills which give them a chance to kill an enemy and rally back to full health. One of the skills makes an audible call for help. Any player hearing the cry or simply seeing a downed character may rally that character. This applies to ranger pets as well as player characters. A downed character has a certain amount of time to rally themselves. If unable to rally or not rallied by another the downed character becomes defeated. In this state a character can only wait for someone else to rally them or pay a small fee to map to a known way point and be automatically rallied back to full health. If a defeated character has no money the fee is waived. Only player characters can be downed, pets are defeated, i.e. cannot rally themselves. If a character is downed too often then it will take longer to rally them each time. The necromancer is an exception to the rule, instead of becoming downed when running out of health the necromancer automatically enters the Death Shroud, remaining in it until he kills an enemy, to rally, or runs out of Life Force in which case he becomes defeated and needs to be raised. A downed necromancer can be more dangerous then a necromancer at full health. Oh I almost forgot, the other weapon new to Guild Wars 2 is the pistol, a short range weapon. So far no profession using the pistol has actually been revealed. Spear (used by paragons in Guild Wars: Nightfall) and scythe (used by dervishes in Guld Wars: Nightfall) did not make into Guild Wars 2. Make of that what you will.

According to Anet most of GW2 will be persistent. They also have what they are calling dynamic events. You could be out exploring when you see smoke. As you move closer to where the smoke is coming from you realize that a village is being attacked by centaurs. You hear NPCs calling for help. The centaurs will not be standing in a field waiting for you to attack them but will actually be attacking the village and if you don't stop them they will burn the village down or maybe they'll just move in. If more people show up these events will scale up (and apparently they will also scale down if there is a mass exist). If you're taking on a boss and 20 more people appear the boss may suddenly gain a new skill. Everyone who takes part gets rewarded. No stealing of XP or of drops. The are some NPCs called scouts who if you talk to them will mark your map with events currently going on. This is so if players need some help finding events they can get it. If you just want to stumble into an event you don't have to talk to the scouts. Events will eventually recycle but it could take weeks for some events to recycle deepening on player character's actions. Guild Wars 2 has something called the personal story. This part of the game is instanced and consequences of your actions are truly permanent. If you let an NPC die then its dead as far as your personal story goes. At some point in the human character's story they have to choose between saving a burning orphanage or a hospital. You can't save both. Which ever one is destroyed, is left destroyed in your home instance. Each character's home instance is part of their race's main city, the rest of the city is persistent. The home instance can only be entered by your character and those you invite. Invited guests can help with the personal story but only your character makes the decisions which effect your personal story. The personal story is shaped by questions created at character creation and your actions in the game. Dungeons are also instanced and repeatable although they supposedly change each time you enter them.

Guild Wars 2 is the announced, but not yet released, sequel to Arena Net's Guild Wars. Unlike the original Guild Wars, Guild Wars 2 will be a MMORPG. There will be some instanced areas, but most of the game is in persistent areas where other players can just pop in. The instanced areas will be every characters "home" in their race's primary city and 5 man dungeons. Guild Wars 2 has very different game mechanics than Guild Wars 1 so Guild Wars 1 characters cannot be imported, however players of Guild Wars 1 will get some kind of cosmetic rewards. Guild Wars 2 is set 250 years after the events of Guild Wars: Eye of the North. Every 50 years an Elder Dragon has awaken from its long sleep. These ancient creatures, older even then the gods of Tyria, have caused massive changes to the planet. Where ever one of these powerful creatures has gone nature itself has been corrupted. While it still slept the stone and fire based minions of Primordus drove the underground race known as asura to the service world. In response to these destroyers most of the dwarfs were transformed into living stone and went underground to fight them. 50 years later, when Primordus awoke there was no going back for the asura. Another 50 years passed, the elder dragon Jormag burst forth from Drakkar Lake forcing the proud, individualistic norn to flee their homes. Next was Zaihtan (the primary villain of Guild Wars 2), rising from the depths of the sea, bringing with it the lost continent of Orr. The human city of Lion's Arch the Great temple of Balthazar (god of word) were flooded. All the dead of orr and any sailors foolish enough to venture near Zhaitan became the mighty dragon's undead slaves. Because of Zhaitan travel from Tyria to Cantha is now impossible. After Zahitan an elder dragon who's name is currently unknown appeared in the deep of the ocean, spawning monstrous tentacles in the rivers and lakes of Tyria. Finally, Kralkatorrik rose from north of the charr homelands, the land it flew over was corrupted, every living thing, inclduing some charr, was transformed. Making its home in the Crystal Desert, Kralkatorrik, has effectively cut off travel between Tyria and Elona. (For the initial release Guild Wars 2 will take place on the continent of Tyria with no access to Cantha [where Guild Wars: Factions took place] or Elona [where Guild Wars: Nightfall was set]. In the original Guild Wars there was only one playable race, human. Guild Wars 2 expands the playable races to 5. The number of professions (classes) goes down from 10 to 8, but each of those professions is able to do more. The five playable races are human, asura, charr, norn and sylvari. See the video for a brief introduction to races. Those characters in the video will be met in the game. Each race has unique skills. These skills are apparently weaker then profession skills (Anet doesn't want any particular race to be better any particular profession) but still useful. Humans: once the masters of Tyria (the continent) the human race has been all but wiped out. Weakened by wars against each other the humans were unprepared centuries ago when the charr invaded. The nation of Ascalon fell when the charr gainws new power from their titan gods, raining down fiery crystals which smashed walls and blackened the countryside. The king of Orr's great adviser used ancient, forbidden magic to send the entire continent plunging to the bottom of the sea. The charr invaders were killed but so was every human in Orr. Only Kryta was saved from charr invasion but at the cost of enslavement to tyrants. Mysterious creatures called the Mursaat destroyed the charr invaders then placed their worshipers, the members of the White Mantle in control of Tyria. It took a civil war fought by Krytan royalists, Ascalonian refugees (Prophecies player characters) and foreign heroes (Factions and Nightfall player characters) to free Kryta. Then the Elder Dragons awoke. Kryta's original capital city, Lion's Arch was flooded. Now the humans make their home in Divinity's Reach, fighting for survival against the constantly raiding centaurs. Peace with the charr having been finally achieved just one year ago. Humans are the most religious race on Tyria. Their racial skills are linked to their 6 gods. If you want to be agnostic play sylvari, if you want to be an atheist play charr. Charr: feline like and living for war the charr were the villains in the early part of Guild Wars: Prophecies. I admit to being prejudiced against the charr because of this. In Prophecies the charr were considered ruthless and evil invaders. According to the rewritten history of Tyria set forth for Guild Wars 2, the charr were the original inhabitants of Tyria and the humans the invaders, the charr just wanted what they saw as their lands back. In the original Guild Wars the charr worshiped the Titans, fiery creatures from another dimension. However, after the titans were wiped out by a small band of humans (Prophecies player characters) the charr were left godless. The shaman of the Flame Legion tried to get the rest of the charr to accept the Destroyers (minions of the dragon Primordious) as their new gods but by this time most of the charr had decided that "there are no gods for the charr". This led to a civil war between the Flame Legion and the united Ash, Blood and Iron Legions. The three combined legions were not strong enough to defeat the Flame Legion. In the original Guild Wars there are no female charr, all charr encountered are male. The lore reason is because when the shaman first decided to make titans the charr gods one lone female charr said no. She was killed and all female char banned from combat. Centuries later, comes the civil war. The male char of the Ash, Blood and Iron Legions learn that their females have secretly been training themselves for combat. Their ranks swelled by female charr the 3 legions are now able to force the Flame Legion into surrendering. The female charr regained the right to fight along side male charr. That's a brief summary of the lore reason for no female charr in original GW and female charr being playable characters in GW2. I suspect the real reason is GW designers had no idea what female charr looked like. GW2 artists have decided that female charr are a bit less bulky have horns that point inward instead of outward like the males and have puffier tails. Female charr being felines do not have large breasts (see humans and norn for that). The other legions renamed the Flame Legion Gold Legion. To humans gold is precious, to the charr gold being a soft metal unfit for making weapons, is useless, so calling the Flame Legion the Gold Legion is a gross insult. I'm not sure what charr racial skills are. Charr society is distrusting of magic and charr have become the most technology advanced of the 5 races. This does not mean a player character cannot be a spell caster there are no racial penalties (or bonuses) connect to profession. Whether choosing to be a spell caster has any special effect on a charr character's personal story line or the way NPC charr respond to them I do not know. The charr's major city is the Iron Citadel. Asura: an ancient subterranean race forced to the surface by the Destroyers, the asura are small in stature but intellectual giants with a far greater understanding of magic then the other races, or so the asura proclaim, loudly and often. Although not actually evil, the asura do look at the other races primarily as servants or expendable guinea pigs for their experiments. Apparently the first sylvari to encounter the asura had bad experienced which has made the sylvari weary of the asura. The asura's major city is Rata Sum. The asura excel at magic rather than technology. Just as a charr player character can be a spell caster equally effectively as any other race, an asura can be a non-magic user, example a warrior and be just as good as any other race. The asura belief that all life is part of the "Eternal Achemy", even the human's gods. Asura racial skills include "Arcane Blast" a magical burst of energy. Norn: the norn are half-giant shapes-hifters. Instead of worshiping gods and goddesses the norn reverence nature spirits, primarily the spirits of bear, wolf, raven and snow leopard. Norn are highly individualist they have no governments or armies. Each norn is expect to fight his/her own battles. The norn's primary city is Hoelbrak. Norn racial skills allows them to shape shift. Charr were villains in Guild Wars: Prophesies, asura and norn were introdced as non-playable characters in Guild Wars: Eye of the North. The fifth playable race in Guild Wars 2 is brand new to the world of Tyria. Sylvari: centuries ago a centaur named Ventari, weary of the endless wars between his kind and humans left his homeland seeking peace. He met Ronan, a human who's entire family was killed by the Mursaat. Together Ronan and Ventari made their home in The Grove, welcoming all who wanted peace. Years ago Ronan had found a strange seed which he intended to show his family. When he found them massacred he planted the seed by their graves. When Ronan died, Ventari buried him with his family. Ventari carved into stone his philosophy. From Ronan's seed a small tree grew. When Ventari died his tablet was left under that tree. Slowly over centuries the Pale Tree became much larger. Finally, 225 years after the events of Guild Wars: Eye of the North, 25 years before the start of Guild Wars 2 the tree spouted pods. The pods opened, out came the sylvari first born. Although humanoid in appearance the sylvari are actually plants. Although the oldest sylvari is only 25 years old the sylvari posses a surprising knowledge of Tyria. Some of this knowledge may have come from Ventari's Tablet which the sylvari revere as their most important artifact. Despite the sylvari have a reputation for being noble the other races are still a bit leery of the sylvari, not knowing why they have suddenly appeared on Tyria, what their purpose can be. The sylvari themselves have no doubt what their purpose is. "Why am I here" is one question the sylvari do not ask. The sylvari known their destiny is to fight the elder dragon. (some people get upset when I say this but its right from the game developers themselves, "the sylvari are a response to the elder dragons", apparently nature itself rebels against the corrupting influence of the elder dragons and produces its own champion to defend it. Ultimately all playable races are destined to battle the elder dragons after all defeating Zaihtan is the ultimate goal of Guild Wars 2, but the sylvari were created specifically for that purpose.) Since known one (accept for Anet designers) has ever played a sylvari the sylvari are a mystery spawning much debate. Probably the most popular question is, do sylvari just APPEAR male and female, having no actual gender, or are they like the other races actually male and female, capable of having relationships which produce offspring, or an sylvari only be born to the Pale Tree? Another favorite, if a Sylvari dies and is buried does it produce another Pale Tree, capable of producing more Sylvari? From the book Ghosts of Ascalon we know that sylvari blood is golden not red. This is too long, I'll talk about professions in a later post.

Thou shall not kill is a weak translation. The Commandment is actually you shall not murder. To quote C.S. Lewis: not all killing is murder anymore than all sex is fornication. It is not murder to execute a criminal. Its not murder to kill in self defense or defense of your nation. Its not murder to kill animals for food, clothing or shelter. There are no contradictions in God's word. Only People who take Scripture out of context. Not everything in the Bible is meant for all nations and all times. Some of those laws were just for ancient Israel. Some were cerimonial laws that no longer apply because they have been fullfilled by the comming of Christ. Yes some Christians are commiting idolatry with crosses. And all those paintings supposedly of Christ are violation of the commandment was well. The Dead Sea Scrolls are Jewish writting contain some of the Old Testament and some non-Biblical texts. The New Testment is not even in the Dead Sea Scrolls. The books of the Old Testament were writen centuries before Jesus was born. There are over 300 prophacies of the Messiah, everyone of them fullfilled by Jesus. There is more archaelogical evidence for the accuracy of the Bible than there is for any other ancient text. There is more evidence for the who men God used to write the Bible were than there is for who wrote the plays attributed to William Shakespeare. The Bible is disbelieved from a lack of faith not a lack of evidence proving it true.
