My guess is, engineer would be the profession for which there are no sylvari NPCs. My opinion: It doesn't fit the fantasy setting to have a character that can use flamethrows, mines and grenades, they may as well have kept the commando. And it anticlimatic to reveal the last new profession before the last returning profession. Now we know last one is mesmer. No surprise there. And they broke the pattern. Should have been adventurer, scholar not adventurer (thief), adventurer (engineer).

All that build up in the story about a snow leopard spirit follower and no picture of the animal or its shaman? Guild Wars 2 FAQ updated to include this important piece of news: When will there be a beta? We will be conducting small closed alpha and beta tests in 2011. The feedback from these tests will determine when we will do public beta tests and ship the game. Guild Wars 2 is a very large and ambitious game, and Guild Wars players rightfully have very high expectations. Anet is calling Guardian a new profession (even though its actually several GW1 professions combined) and they say of the remaining three professions, one more will be new. Also according to one of the lore writers, the Pale Tree, from which the sylvari come, is an intelligent life form and it watched the human and the centaur who longed for peace grow old and die not seeing peace in Tyria. She could not communicate with them but she took Ventari's tablet and held in in her roots. As the sylvari are growing she teaches them some basics about the world, including how to read the tablet. The First Born of the sylvari are considered the most wise of the sylvari and are respected as leaders and teachers. At least one of the First Born has turned bad however, Faolain is a leader of the twisted Nightmare Court.
