durendal Posted April 16, 2014 Author Posted April 16, 2014 Yeah, it wasn't until book 5 that the mystery was fully unveiled and the methodology explained, though there were hints along the way. So how did you feel about the second episode? I seem to read a lot of people getting vindication for that particular episode. I had to admit, that was the one scene I was looking forward to. Aside from that, I don't seem to remember any memorable highlights for the rest of the season. Quote
*guyverfan Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 BOOK 5, are you that far ahead?.......luckily they change and add little things and twists in the series so you have to watch it aswell. (such as the birth, as i like to call it, that was awesome, i was on the couch and went "HOLY F#@K :o",'knees to chest'. as for justice, well, he got what he deserved, thats forsure. his head on a spike was really what i was waiting to see! an opportunity arose and some one took it. but the way the events unfolded and the look on everyones faces of anticipation(those of certain main characters that plot and sceem, leading up to it has only opened more questions and speculation for me. when you watch the second episode, you'll see what i mean. and this is why i love watching, the endless theories of who and why that i think up before the next episode. that and ofcourse the great acting and cinema. were they all watching to see what will happen next between joffrey and tyrion? or were all, or some, waiting for that specific moment to happen? was it the work of a single individual who others received knowledge or a group effort? did the tyrell's pioson the pie(vaguely, did joffrey mention he was allergic to something in a previous season?) as his bride only ate from the crust and only joffrey was seen eating from the filling just prior to him taking his last drink from the cup tyrion handed to him. but the cup and jug of wine came from the table where olenna was sitting. did she slip something in it? if they did, what have they to gain? in this situation, doesn't the throne now go back to the king's family, back to cersei and possibly to tywin. or does margaery rule as a widowed queen? which opens more possibilties for me. was it tywin that plotted joffrey's death so he could take control of the throne and become king? or was it cersei herself, with all the goings on around her, she no longer was the center of everything and would finally lose control of joffrey to margeary once married. is she the type of character to be able to kill her own son?, well we were shown that she no longer felt anything for jaime once he returned minus a right hand. they had a bond of being siblings and lovers!, so yes, i do think she's capable of it. durendal Posted April 16, 2014 Author Posted April 16, 2014 All I can say is that no sane mother is capable of killing her own child. Even if I've already read the book, I'm still looking forward to watching the series. And like you, my wife have not read the book. She literally gasped when she saw the red wedding. I've seen videos on youtube that show the audiences' reaction to the red wedding and it's somewhat entertaining. GRRM must feel like a god right now, with the actors asking him not to kill their character off. I've read somewhere that three actors approached him and pleaded not to have their character killed, and in his mind, they're already dead. That's what I liked about GOT, you never really know who's going to live or die, regardless if you are the star or not. We all thought that Ned Stark was the show runner, and was extremely surprised when they took off his head. It's true that they changed the story a bit, but it has minimal effect on the whole story with the exception of a few. For one, Robb's wife was Jane Westerling and she was not part of the red wedding, as Catelyn advised her to not go with Robb in fear of offending the Freys. So plus points to HBO for exceeding the brutality of the original. Quote

durendal Posted May 11, 2014 Author Posted May 11, 2014 With the recent episodes of GoT, I myself have been surprised by what's happening in the HBO series. There seems to be a lot more materials popping out that weren't in the books. There were even some information that are revealed this early but was only stated in another at a later time. Could this be a sign of what is to come from GRRM's 6th and 7th book? Or are they rushing the series to it's finale due to the age of the actors? For one, the actress playing Arya is getting taller and older, and in the later books, she's still a small child. Quote
*guyverfan Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 i know, i'm surprised that they've already revealed that baelish and others were the ones that plotted and had joffrey killed. i was expecting it to drag on atleast 'till the end of this season. arya sure has sprouted from when we first saw her, thats for sure, i think you could be right there durendal. i'm thinking that once littlefinger marry's tully, he'll kill her and her son so he can become lord of the eyrie, then he'll take sansa as his new bride to own winterfell aswell. *guyverfan Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 holy crap, what a battle to the death! i was sure that it would of been judged as a draw? this is the only version of the fight i could find that wasn't blocked. although, i think everyone wanted to it to turn out like this; Quote
durendal Posted June 11, 2014 Author Posted June 11, 2014 Head popping like popcorn. HBO seems to have this ability to surprise the viewers every season. Funny thing is that the head popping scene was not only blocked on youtube, but on our local HBO as well. Even the nude scene of Misandrei in the river. It's a good thing that I watched them through back channels. Although I already know what's gonna happen, I've read that people were really surprised with episode 9. Now I wonder if the next surprise will happen in episode 10. ho hum~ 1 Quote
*guyverfan Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 . Now I wonder if the next surprise will happen in episode 10. ho hum~ ho hum in deed, hehehe, just makes me hang out even more during the week waiting for the episode. as i think there's only one episode left for this season, which is episode 10. it would either be tyrion decapitated or sent to castle black if his brother intervenes, or an episode focused on something totally different and leaving the outcome for next season. although, you already know what occurs, waiting gives me great pleasure in cursing HBO and producers for the suspense....haha Quote
durendal Posted June 11, 2014 Author Posted June 11, 2014 (edited) Dammit man! Don't do that. You're giving me more reason to spill out everything. Hahaha.Despite knowing what will happen, watching it with your eyes is much more rewarding than imagining what's happening in your head. I mean, I don't think I could imagine what the mountain did to Oberon. Besides, it more pleasing to see butt nekid women than imagining it.Spoiler for those who have not seen season 4 (Don't worry, no spoilers past episode 8 of season 4) And I guess Baristan won't be betraying Denaerys anytime soon. In the books, Denaerys got mad at Baristan for not telling him his true identity. He introduced himself as Arstan Whitebeard, the squire of Strong Belwas (which they didn't include. He was the one who squashed the Mereen champion instead of Dario). When Denaerys found out that he was one of the kingsguard, she got mad and wanted to banish him. This was at the same time that she found out Jorah was spying on her. But she forgave Baristan because he apologized. She got madder at Jorah because he kept claiming he did nothing wrong. Hence the banishment. Valar Morghulis Edited June 11, 2014 by durendal 1 Quote
durendal Posted June 17, 2014 Author Posted June 17, 2014 What irony. And June 15 was supposed to be father's day. Quote
*guyverfan Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 WOW, what an episode. i don't know why ferres decided to stay on the ship aswell, unless he thought someone may implicate him for helping tyrion. i wonder if he might go and join daenerys. Quote
Jade Tatsu Posted July 10, 2014 Posted July 10, 2014 A bit late - or a lot late - Guyverfan I'd suggest you go read the books. It will explain Varys very well. Quote
xfool Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 (edited) Rather disappointing end of the season, other than no undead lady appearance, they make the best part of the book look like crap. Without the Tysha talk , there is no motivation for Tyrion to seek his father and risk being caught. Anyway looking forward to the winds of winter. Edited July 18, 2014 by xfool Quote
durendal Posted July 18, 2014 Author Posted July 18, 2014 Don't you mean The Winds of Winter? And looks like GRRM might add an 8th book to the series. Dammit, I want to express my frustrations about a certain character but I can't seeing this as a risk of a huge and major spoiler. Quote
*guyverfan Posted July 19, 2014 Posted July 19, 2014 its alright, express your fustrations and spoil away, i promise it won't end up like this; Quote
Guest Jupiter Posted July 19, 2014 Posted July 19, 2014 Anyone know when Season 4 is going to be released on dvd? Quote
*guyverfan Posted July 20, 2014 Posted July 20, 2014 Anyone know when Season 4 is going to be released on dvd? apparently, not until feb 2015! just about afew months before the airing of season5 Quote

*guyverfan Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 just acouple of reasons why watching the show is a must. Be prepared for shock deaths in Game Of Thrones season five, says George R R Martin. "People are going to die who don't die in the books"... As a show renowned for mercilessly swinging the scythe at its cast, it's no spoiler that Game Of Thrones writer George R R Martin is teasing more deaths to come in season five. "Everybody better be on their toes," Martin warned at the Writers Guild West Awards this weekend, "[benioff and Weiss, showrunners] are even bloodier than I am". Some surprise however, comes with Martin's tease of non-A Song Of Ice And Fire deaths in the show's forthcoming fifth season. "People are going to die who don’t die in the books, so even the book readers will be unhappy", he told the assembled crowd on Saturday. The task of squeezing Martin's sprawling novels into 10 tight hours of television per year has already necessitated more than a few deviations from the source material by Benioff and Weiss. Characters and sub-plots have been expanded, excised and combined to streamline the storytelling, so a surprise death or two wouldn't be a huge departure. Indeed, as season five is due to pull in material from the most recently published novel, A Dance With Dragons, the TV series is fast approaching the point at which it overtakes the book series. Depending on when Martin's next novel, The Winds Of Winter, appears, it could be surprises all round for season six and beyond. new season starts april. Quote
H222G981 Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 just a couple of reasons why watching the show is a must. Were you happy when Joffrey Lannister was murdered at his own wedding? Quote
*guyverfan Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 probably more shocked when it did happen with a feeling of justification which later brought on happiness. i'd say the same for about the other 20million+ viewers aswell. 1 Quote
durendal Posted March 1, 2015 Author Posted March 1, 2015 This is no surprise. In prior season, they killed the wife which in the book was supposedly alive. The show was more gruesome, and a lot more merciless. From here on out, it might be entirely different from that of the books. In the trailers, I saw Tyrion walking alongside Denaerys, which I have never seen in the books. It's going to be interesting. 1 Quote
