odin Posted March 5, 2013 Author Posted March 5, 2013 (edited) I'm glad you like it, I think I'll take a break today from spriting but I will leave you guys with the official color art of guyver 3 to compare with the one I did first. Edit: can we start discussing how what kind of story we will give to the game? should we use the original story and abridge it or make our own story? I do have in mind to put what if scenarios as secret chapters for example one where Alky has a Guyver Unit. Any ideas or suggestions are welcomed. Edited March 5, 2013 by odin Quote
*Jess♥ Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 odin, not sure how this will work. I've used magenta for a backdrop but i'm not sure how your program handles transparency. try this, and if this doesn't work, we can look at just having the whole logo as a video or something? Quote
*Jess♥ Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 oh bloody typical. the forum decided not to display the actual file that I uploaded. hold on a sec.... http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/152/guyverrebirthshine.gif/ Quote
odin Posted March 5, 2013 Author Posted March 5, 2013 (edited) the forum does not animate gifs when you attach them, what you uploaded just appears as a single frame, I would suggest using photobucket or another image hosting site when showing animations ryuki. Edit: ok, never mind, you did just that It looks great, I will test it now. Edited March 5, 2013 by odin Quote
odin Posted March 5, 2013 Author Posted March 5, 2013 I just tested it on game maker and it does not remove the magenta completely for some reason, can you send me the animation without the magenta? a transparent background is the only option. Quote
*Jess♥ Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 it's not possible. an animated gif cannot yield full graduated transparency. it only has opaque or transparent. png provides graduated transparency but no animation. I can prepare separate frames as png, or a full movie of the entire logo... or.. something else? Quote
odin Posted March 5, 2013 Author Posted March 5, 2013 (edited) I have done animated gifs with transparent backgrounds before, weird. well just send me the images separated in a psd file and I'll work with that. No background color please. Edited March 5, 2013 by odin Quote
*Jess♥ Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 gif does not support graduated transparency. it's either empty or coloured. I'll send you the psd containing the animation data. Quote
odin Posted March 6, 2013 Author Posted March 6, 2013 Ok, I understand now, I just went and exported the images to png frame by frame and created the animation on game maker, it works well without losing any quality, I will start mounting it tomorrow to show a demo of it if I get the chance tomorrow, thanks again for the support ryuki, btw what settings did you use to maintain the quality of your gif Ryuki? when I tried to make a gif it keeps losing quality. Quote
*Jess♥ Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 depends on how many colours you choose for it. a gif is indexed colour, it has 256 indexes. if your image is varied with lots of different colour you need to choose more indexes to fit the colours in. if you choose 10 for example, you will only have 10 shades/colours in your image. if you choose 256 it will look good if your image doesn't have a lot of variation. but if your image has all the colours of the rainbow and all different shades then even 256 won't be enough. you choose how many indexes you want to save when you choose to save the file. in photoshop to get this choice you need to choose 'save for web'. Guyver0 Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 Guys this is looking amazing, I am really excited and can't wait to see the ending result of this project! As for the story or scenario to play through. I think we should follow the story up until a certain agreed upon point and then branch it off from there. Maybe follow the story through until all the "fighters" are introduced than branch it off or decide if there is a specific arc in the series that we want to stop at and then go on from there? The brownish color on Guyver 3 looks a lot better, but maybe you should keep both of them; one for Player 1 and the other for Player 2 kind of thing. Also "Guyver Archanfel"...bitchin. Finally to touch back on what I said earlier in regards to Neo Zx-Tole's height; are you planning on having him the same size as the Gigtantic? If so would you then be adding "giant" characters? Gigantic, Gigantic Dark, Neo Zx-Tole, Gyuot, Archanfel, and Guyver Archanfel just to name the ones that have been more or less descussed. Quote
odin Posted March 22, 2013 Author Posted March 22, 2013 yes, my goal is to include gigantic characters in the game, I'm also brainstorming a way to include Exceed Guyver 1 but I wont get ahead of my self just yet, I'm still making the final touches on Sho's sprites. Anyways, I am writing this post to let you guys know that I will be taking sort of a brake from developing Guyver rebirth for what is left of the month, I'm feeling a bit burned out and want to try out my other projects for a change, but I wont leave you guys without an update of the game, here is a simple test demo for the games menu screen, it is not finished by any means, just wanted to share it with you guys for being awesome in supporting this project, in order to quit the demo press escape. http://www.mediafire.com/?56jwjb86lqgdlg9 Thanks a million to Ryuki for the awesome logo, expect an update at the start of the next month. *Jess♥ Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 love it!!! it's very cool and I feel very enthusiastic about starting the game. even the guyver standing on a blank screen gives me a feeling about how the final game could be. btw there is a msvcp71.dll warning at the start. doesn't stop it from running though. also, I don't know if this helps, but i think it would be better if the title screen doesn't show up until the song properly kicks in. a delay of maybe 2 seconds. Quote
odin Posted March 22, 2013 Author Posted March 22, 2013 (edited) huh, that is weird....you probably need to install on your computer the msvcp71.dll , I have had no problems with it, has anybody else have had the same problem starting up the demo? edit: checked on the forum and that is exactly it, download that .dll and place it on the system32 root file. LordSpleach Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 I'm having problems, too. But it's my damn Norton Security. It's say I don't have the permissions. Quote
odin Posted March 22, 2013 Author Posted March 22, 2013 It happens, for some reason there are Anti virus programs that think that the executable you are using is a virus, just added on your safe list or turn it off while you are playing it. Norton is too good that it is annoying, there is nothing to fear from the executable I posted. Quote
odin Posted March 22, 2013 Author Posted March 22, 2013 here is what I found out about the Gamemaker and Norton problem on the official forum. It's a known issue. Because GM attaches data to the end of exes, it looks like a trojan. Eventually Norton will add the GM data into it's white list and the problem will go away. GM has a long history of false positives on all antivirus software. Quote
LordSpleach Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 Ok, I spanked it. Actually, it just said it had too few Norton users downloading it for it to be safe. But I got around it. Looks goods, and good choice(and different) choice for the music. Now I don't if this was just because of my laptop's settings, or how you made it, but everything was off center towards the right. At least on my machine. Quote
odin Posted March 22, 2013 Author Posted March 22, 2013 yeah it does seem like it, I thought it was just me XD I will have to align it later Quote
Vertexer Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 (edited) I'm skimming the thread as we speak. But from what I gather, you are making a beat-em-up? I'd like to help. I'm a sprite artist. I've been spriting for almost a decade, now. There's not much I can't do, when it comes to it to be honest. Years of practice. I'll post some stuff related to this tonight. Also, I would like to help with graphics as well. Title, meters and bars, etc. I am really good at that. I can also share my resources to you guys, aswell (again, once I am home later this evening).I have a few questions;*What engine are you using (Beats of Rage)?*Do you have a deadline per milestone in the project? Like, have certain things accomplished or near completion near certain times? It helps move the project along, as I have been in many stale/dead projects over the years.*What's completed as of now? We should make a checklist of everything that we need (sound effects, sparks/hit effects, music, etc).*Who has all signed on board for the project?I also have tons of ideas and suggestions, and concepts I will lay out in this thread, soon. *V Guyver Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 Sorry for the long wait, no internet only spotty wifi that drops me after a few. Here is the more recent title. *What engine are you using (Beats of Rage)? is that the Engine used for Streets of Rage Remake V5? The Guyver ...Rebirth.zip Quote
cronodevil Posted April 23, 2013 Posted April 23, 2013 Hi, I'm new here and the fisrt thing I stumbled upon was this Topic. I'm happy that someone is making a game that will feature Guyver in it. If You need help with voice acting, if I can name it that way. I'd be more than happy to help. Just tell me what kind of voice do You need for the game. By the way, I love how the logo looks. Good work guys. I'm waiting for Your response. Quote
odin Posted May 20, 2013 Author Posted May 20, 2013 wow, I just noticed that a few people are wanting to help with this game, I'm so sorry I did not answer you guys sooner, you see I have been working hard to save up in order to buy the upgraded version of the program I am using which is Game Maker Studio Professional, with it I can create the game for different platforms including Mac and windows 8 which some people have asked me when I made my previous game, and now I have bought the program at last so now I can proceed to continue with the project as of today. @Vertexer- As I said in the first post I am using a program called Game Maker, if you are still interested you can go ahead and help out with the project, I need to see your work first so I can gauge on what I can give you to help out with. *V Guyver Posted May 24, 2013 Posted May 24, 2013 By the way, found a person who could make a theme and possibly music for the entire game. Check his account out, he does requests, and from the looks of it he wouldn't mind working on a game soudntrack, just have to keep in mind the music is retro, but that can be a good thing too, keeps file sizes down.https://www.youtube.com/user/WizzyWhipitWonderful?feature=watch Quote
