Aether Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 (edited) (seems contradictory to put 3 chapters in one when, im talking of order but not much happens and theres not much to observe to discuss i think) #8 - VIZ - Explosive! - Chuang Yi - Boom!! the blast of pressure cannon - Advocacy - another hyperzoanoid? Panadyne! a good chapter where Sho realises the power of the gravity canon and also Mizuki sees him fight and transform! p.s Guyot's still alive! #9 - VIZ - Amazing! - Chuang Yi - lost numbers command!! The lurking shadows of Chronos - Advocacy - ooh! The Lost Numbers! Aptoms first appearance!! here i find it weird that Agito seemingly Bio-boosts outside the room Guyot was in? surely that gave Guyot a big clue?? Somlum takes on G1 and gets some megasmasher action for his trouble. #10 - VIZ - Adverserial - Chuang Yi - Formidable enemy!! 2 lost numbers - Advocacy - Sho is using single handed presuure cannon shots - nice. 1st appearance of Masaki Murakami! Guyot's getting suspicious of Agito.... beginning of Sho vs the remaining lost numbers Edited September 25, 2012 by Aether 1 Quote
*Jess♥ Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 I think it's good to have these in one thread. in terms of checking on details or comparing the manga, there is no access to the original japanese so not much I can contribute in that way. the story is also pretty straightforward. it is interesting about where guyver 3 calls his armour. any inspection of the vicinity will show no point of entry and will show a blast field in the corridor. that is sloppy for agito. daveblackeye152 Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 For me I consider chapter 10 kind of significant, it feels like the first true two parter of a sort. I mean yeah various threads are always continuing through out the more episodic parts but issue ten is special to me. Number one is it is the first time Takaya spends a whole issue setting up a battle and thus the following entire issue can be dedicated to that fight. I mean a lot of the fights before were kind of quick and sloppy. Takaya does seems to like shorter fights that was filled out with a bit of talking but he doesn't have that trick down with certainly the Zerebuth fight or Guyver II. Also 10 is where the series feels much more like a serial or a weaving story line or at least the first drops of it. And show was certainly quite into using the Pressure Cannon in this book wasn't he? He uses it thrice I think. Funny considering I don't think he's used the Gigantic's Pressure Cannon ever and Agito becomes the big user of that trick. Anyway it STILL feels weird that Somlum was killed in a different fight because I saw the Lost Numbers episode of the OVA first and I'm still bummed out at how the Lost Number battle went in the new anime. I guess I'm talking too much about 11 though. Love the Pressure Cannon though it seems more like a beam kinda in its first use but it looks like Takaya got it right the following issue what with big holes getting blown out of the mook, along with his head. I'm torn on whether I like the blades or the cannon more, love the shotgun effect. 1 Quote
*Jess♥ Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 you know what saddens me the most about your threads aether? the amount of people posting in them. we have so many members, so many guyver fans. and yet you make some incredibly interesting and engaging threads about guyver, really getting into the guts of what makes guyver great... and there is only dave and me responding. it's very sad that this is what has become of the guyver fandom. It makes me wonder why I pay a monthly fee to keep this server running. Quote

I mean look at a topic I created; there literally no one posting in there but me. A lot of downloads, so I know that someone is enjoying it, though. Quote
daveblackeye152 Posted September 29, 2012 Posted September 29, 2012 Also this is the first time Agito uses his swords. Did I mention that already? I dunno I skimmed my post. I did just realized something about the OVA: even though the head beam was introduced in the third chapter Sho's only powers are that I think he's using the blades and Megasmasher. Just kind of interesting seeing stuff from three chapters and nods to other chapters (mostly in vague monster designs). Heck I'd like to see Takaya cannonize the ship base since he's added Valcuria. Heck I do wonder just what got Guyver an OVA in the first place, I mean who would bank even a 45 minute OVA on a just debuted manga that didn't get anything short of One Piece popularity? Quote
*Kenji Murakami Posted September 30, 2012 Posted September 30, 2012 Maybe they were trying to promote it; I don't know. I'm not much a fan of Out Of Control, really. The only thing I particularly enjoy about it is the music. Quote
Aether Posted October 1, 2012 Author Posted October 1, 2012 (edited) @ Kenji i can see how some people maynot be a fan of OOC because i dont now about other people but i saw it after the 12 oavs and the manga so going backwards and it being totally different is a bit weird. i still enjoyed it though. @ Dave i hadnt thought of it in that way - as a 2 parter between 10 and 11, i see your point though. Also yeah the difference between the fight in the manga and oav is strange, i did like it better when all 3 attacked him. although there is the fact that its one of the worts animated episodes - like when a paused still of Aptom's face is used, it looks horrible (not his face - even though its grotesque- but the tackiness of the still. they could have just made frames of the same cel over and over until it filled the time, but they just made it look tack... @ brother justin (????) didnt mean to make you sad but i know what you mean. i was trying to stimulate some discussion on the board and i appreciate not everyone will want to go over old ground but i think some of the points raised are relevant and can spark other discussions.... im doing this to reread and remember points i have forgot. it would be easier for me not to write any observations, but when some good things come up its hard not to but then again is it worth my while??? i'll definately finish book 2 and see what happens, i might do volumes instead of chapters but thst might get too big in terms of posting. i dont know! anyway onto chapter 11. *Jess♥ Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 Aether, what you're doing is what I might expect a fan to do. it's precisely why I started a forum right from the very start. to talk about what we love and to support it and inspire other people to come talk to us about it. it's just a shame that it shines a light on a very sad issue. I think fan interest in guyver has just fallen. Quote
