I could not sleep so I was just checking out any tokusatsu news and I stumbled upon this juicy bit, apparently the name for the 37th super sentai series has already been registered called Jyuden Sentai Kyoryuger , From what i have gathered the name implies that the theme for this particular series will be of dinosaurs again which is not a bad idea to me since it would have to be about 20 years give or take since Zyuranger and Power Rangers was aired so it could be yet another tribute to both series, any speculations and confirmations of the name are welcomed and as soon as I see some images for this new series I will share it with you. This info was taken from Jefusion btw.

edit 1:

I got this via jefusion via henshin justice about the new teams henshin device, weapon and mecha:

With the Beast Batteries (JuuDenChi), charged-up with dinosaur souls, and the transformation device called the GabuRevolver, our heroes transform into Kyoryuger! Dinosaur representations are:
  • Red – Gabutyra (T-Rex)
  • Black – Parasagan (Parasaurolophus)
  • Blue – Stegotchi (Stegosaurus)
  • Green – Zactor (Velociraptor)
  • Pink – Tricera (Triceratops)

This year's main theme are trains, as seen in Kyoryuger's logo.

The main mecha will be called Kyoryujin, a combination of Gabutyra, Stegotchi and Tricera. The remaining two, Parasagan and Zactor, are interchangeable parts.

it could be that or it could be what I thought was happening.

I see many similarities between this years super sentai and hurricanger.

if next year is based on dinosaurs it's because the one after hurricanger was abaranger, based on dinosaurs.

nah, you're probably on the right lines. it does seem more like it may be taking a cue from power rangers. can't imagine why though. I mean, not to say power rangers doesn't deserve merit, I just don't see how it makes marketing sense. unless they're trying to do this to help haim saban in some way.

well I heard that ppl like Power Rangers in Japan and in a way if it wasn't for Power Rangers super sentai would have not have catched on as much as it does now worldwide so it would make sense that they would also celebrate or do a sort of tribute for Power Rangers altough Go-busters is in a way a tribute to Power Rangers.

just uploaded the new images for the Kyoryuger team on the first post, decent design to say the least in my opinion.

yep. definitely what i was thinking. the images make it look so very much like abaranger.

well it is interesting, that much can be said. can it be considered stylish? I'll withhold that right now. I cannot call this stylish at the moment. it seems very awkward. but it may simply need to be presented in the right light as with many other designs.

it does give a better view.

right now, I just feel like i'm looking at cos play. it makes me sad when the new series looks like this.

it makes me think that the budget is next to nothing and that toei are just giving up on the franchise.

I just hope I'm wrong and that there is some excellent details that become apparent when it is moving.

dunno about that but here is hoping it is good, they are doing an excellent job with Gobusters it would be a shame if they did not improve from it, as I always say it is not the look that matters but the story and character development, take a look at wizard, very stylish but the story so far is pretty bland and generic in my opinion.

i must say that it does look a bit retro.. i mean going back to the lycra and stuff does feel like a step backwards, the whole costume design just looks a bit tacky.

is this to coincide with the anniversary of power rangers then??

if so it probably means the US wont get a version of go-busters then?? not that i care as i can be 95% sure that it would be crap compared to the original anyway.

yeah I agree with you actually.

even with my misgivings about the costume designs, I do like the way the dinosaurs look.

that chunky design makes me think of cake. the t-rex looks like he has icing on him~!

but aside from that, it looks dynamic and the shape looks like it goes through quite an advanced and interesting transformation.

it could have a similar juvenile feel like kamen rider fourze, but at the same time could be quite trendy.

The plot of this series has been revealed, got this from Jefusion via Orends:

The plot of the 37th entry of the Super Sentai series, Juuden Sentai Kyoryuger is finally revealed! The plot was revealed in the series' official toy catalog.

Long ago, in the time of the dinosaurs, the earth was invaded by forces from outer space. The only people capable of the stopping them was a team known as the Kyouki Ryu no Sha, the People of the Strong Dragons, or, Kyoryuger for short. Now, in the modern world, they return using the powers of the Beast Batteries to fight off this revived threat.

Juuden Sentai Kyoryuger begins this February 17, 2013.

sounds like Gokaiger mixed with Zyuranger, I'm looking forward to it so far.

well, the series has started last week and it seems nice and very lively too, not too fond of the way they dance to henshin tho, the designs are simplistic but work and the members are likable as well, at least from what I could interpret from the Raws, I have not watched the subs yet, really digging Kyoryupink tho, reminds me a bit of Luca and she is not girly at all which is usually the role they give to a pink ranger, KyoryuRed is hell a fun while Black and Green seem a bit boring at first, Blue seems cool, I'm also suprised by the dinosaurs that each Kyoruger has all except red since it was obvious his is a T-Rex as it was to all the previous Dino themed Sentais, something that I have been reading about is people complaining that there is no yellow ranger this time, is that really such a big deal? it is not the first time it has happened. anyways the enemies don't seem that great although I'm curious to know why the generals are the same color as the Kyoryugers, I guess it will revealed later  or not at all, I leave you guys with the Opening theme of this years sentai, not too bad, I loved the middle part of the song, very catchy.

well TVN is taking their time with it as usual. I just don't see why they can't forget about the karaoke for the first episode.

They can always add the karaoke in when they do their batches.

it was released by TVN! oh, it seems like... 6 days actually isn't it? that's good going actually, and they did such a good job!

what did I think of it....

I don't see anything quite as cool as gobusters yet...

except for the whole tag team with his mecha!!!

how cool was that?

Also, I kinda saw it coming that they would hide their identity. I think it was the way they arrived fully suited up.

it's interesting.  they really sort of rushed the whole introduction to who they are and their abilities. it was sort of like hello, you can fight monsters, here is a gun, i'm a deity, let's fight together. BAM.

I wonder what this means for the rest of the series. is it an indication that the character development is more important? or is it an indication that they want to forget about backdrop and get straight to the action?

well the characters look like they could be pretty interesting. There is plenty of opportunity for them to learn about each other since they are complete strangers.

All I know is that I am totally pumped to see the next episode! The action so far was superb and even though we did not get to learn a lot about the actual characters they still are very likeable so far. I also love the new henshin device! It is quite interesting. Highly considering picking it up while the price is still low.

haven't quite seen episode 3 yet....

but episode 2 was a vast improvement over ep 1.

episode 1 felt a little rushed and felt like it was missing something. it felt a little empty.

but episode 2 was great.

it shows such great potential for character development. I like how fleshed out these guys are already.

The introduction stories of green and black are very interesting, specially black, I'm getting very attached to the intro as well as the ending song and I simply adore the new Pink, she is so lively and not as girly as the typical pink ranger is, I don't know it just feels like it would be awesome to hang out with her, I'm liking Blue a lot as well and Red is the most bad ass Red I have seen in a while, recent red have been kind of gloomy and it is nice to see a Red that is very charismatic and cheerful which is what I can describe this series as, very Lively and Cheerful without going to childish....yet, if there is anything I have to complain about it is the villains, they don't seem very interesting at the moment, but that is probably because they have had barely any screen time at all, I hope they do some decent development with them as to explain why are they the same colors as the kyoryugers, so far I'm sticking to this series for now.
