Guest DekaRed Posted February 21, 2010 Posted February 21, 2010 more from the wonderful world of Who, this time in the form of the new 60 second trailer that premiered on BBC1 last night. i'm warming to the guy already Quote
*Jess♥ Posted February 21, 2010 Posted February 21, 2010 wow. that was awesome!! that clip was like nothing of doctor who i have ever seen, it was warm and fuzzy. not sure how or why, but i love it. I can't wait for it now. Quote

*Kenji Murakami Posted April 24, 2010 Posted April 24, 2010 I've really enjoyed the new season so far. About the only false note was Victory of the Daleks, and that was only because I thought the episode wasn't as good as it could have been. Quote
*Jess♥ Posted April 24, 2010 Posted April 24, 2010 you're not the only one who said that. I felt a weakness in that episode. i think a lot of the issue i have been picking up on is the strength of the actor who is playing the doctor. he can do melancholy quite well. but when it comes to real presence, he just got nothin'. my friend said that he was majorly disappointed with the daleks. he said it was too much like power rangers.. that was until i reminded him that the daleks were originally painted in those sorts of colours. but he also felt that they were too 'fat'. I noticed this and liked it in some ways, but i see his point. up to now, I think that this doctor can be fine as a proxy character. but is that who the doctor is supposed to be? what have past doctors been like? I'm pretty sure the doctor is suppose to be a big focus character rather than a conduit for the viewer and/or support for the companion. it's possible that they are doing this on purpose, that as the series goes on, he gets stronger character. it might help. but to be honest i'm not too sure. because they have tried doing those over the top parts already, they've tried bulling him up. and he just doesn't fit the shoes. on another note, I think it's quite cool that you guys get your own bbc channel now. Guest Deka-RyuRanger-Red Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 Who else thinks last nites episode was easily the best of the new series so far? For the first time I actually felt emotionally attached, a feeling I haven't felt since tennant left. I actually felt scared when they realised that ALL the statues were angels. I actually felt a sense of triumphant leadership from the doctor, a sense of "yes, he IS the doctor, and the bad guys WILL need new pants" again something I haven't felt since tennant. As in the speech at the end. Also, next weeks looks to be even more epic. Good times indeed . Quote
*Jess♥ Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 i thought this episode was the best in this series so far. i thought the opening was especially impressive. the doctor did not change much in my view but the episode was definitely more suitable to the characters involved. that woman is more impressive. and it has us thinking about who she could actually be. if we even know. i picked up on the fact she is called both professor and doctor. one other person springs to mind when i think of those titles. but how that may be relevant is anyones guess. Guest Deka-RyuRanger-Red Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 if by any chance you mean ace, then that is very interesting. for those who don't know, ace was the 7th doctors companion, and she called the doctor "professor". the intended storyline for her, had the series not been cancelled, was to go live on gallifrey and train to be a timelord. she was also quite violent, often thinkin nothing of aiming a bazooka at the bad guys, and carrying her own explosive, nitro-9 around in a backpack. adding all these together, river song does not want the doc to know who or what she really is. she is also worried about going back to prison, which may suggest a violent past. she also knows gallifreyan language, and can pilot a TARDIS better than the doc can, having been trained by someone else. then again the professor/doctor thing is probably just a big coincidence Quote
