I don't think any package I've received before has ever smelled like Fruit Loops ^^; I got some handmade clothes in from Thailand yesterday and when I opened up the package I smelled something fruity coming from the clothes. I guess it's something in the dye they used while making the clothes?

P.S. For those who don't know what Fruit Loops are: they're a very popular kids cereal here in the US that tastes fruity.

Went road tripping with my dad today.  We hit several towns and went shopping before school starts up, and we had fun!

We mainly hit the small shops, then hit the largest Harley-Davidson dealership in Arkansas, and lastly stopped at a little yarn store that had a crap load of natural yarns that cannot be found in the big brand stores like Hobby Lobby.  I found some stuff to decorate my dorm room with (my dormmates are going to call me the resident hippie when they see one particular thing I found), some new clothes, and some damn good yarn from our last stop for the day.  Dad got some T-shirts from the Harley-Davidson store, so we were both happy by the end of the trip :)

that sounds really exciting! can't think of any thing like that over here. I mean we might travel to another town but we'll spend the whole day there then come home. never even considered the concept of visiting different towns in one trip.

sounds pretty cool. might consider it one day.

Well, what we planned on first was visiting a few stores we looked up that were related to our interests (me: yarn and anime; dad: trains and bikes), and we attempted to find each store in the areas we visited.  That idea somewhat fell through with a number of the places being shut down and us finding little store the piped our interest, so this was more of a spur of the moment sort of trip.  One town had a number of shops that would be a great place to find Christmas gifts.

It's certainly worth a try if your up for a day trip and got a case of Cabin Fever.

cabin fever! another term I'm not familiar with :)

I suppose it is because I live in a large town of 60,000. we have plenty of shops round here. I think the USA is arranged differently with lots of small stores and family run places. I can't think of many 'mom and pop' stores round here.

Cabin fever is where you're stuck in the house for days on end and build up too much energy from not going outside.

My state, Arkansas, has a lot of family run shops in every town/city since we're mostly a farming state.  Not much civilization in between the towns really :P  You never know what you'll find in each town since the big chain names are in the big cities where the colleges and business are.

I know I'm going back to that yarn shop in the near future; the yarn I bought there is currently being used in a baby blanket project :)

oh very nice! baby blanket project? sounds very exciting!

I understand cabin fever. I will never stay in the house all day if I can help it. I always go out to do something. see some people somewhere. buy some groceries or look around the thrift store etc.

I thik if I stayed home all day, I would feel very awkward.

yeah my mum says wool is expensive. I don't have the patience for knitting to be honest, but I think it's pretty cool. when I was a kid, before I learned about computers and video games, I used to crochet and knit. made some pretty good stuff back then.

I'm actually working with an organic cotton blend for this project (no harsh chemical treatments, so it'll be safe for babies that love to suck on things).  Still, the cost of this project is adding up to a jaw dropping amount.

You used to knit? Cool!

I've finished my first custom order on Etsy! :)

It's not the best picture, but basically it's a modified version of some yoga socks I have in my shop.  A lady wanted this for her 4 year old with casts asked me to add a heel and try to make it to where it would fit over said casts.  She didn't have any method of measuring the kid's foot, so this was a lot of guess work (and referencing a foot chart in a sock book) and I added a draw string system to make one end tighter if needed.  I hope these will fit the kid [emote=monkey]yay[/emote]

Thanks!  I'm sure they will.

Blog:

We had our first Nerd Club meeting here on campus, and we've got A LOT of new faces this year!  Usually we don't get that many freshmen to attend, but this time around there were at least ten in attendance.  Hopefully we can keep the numbers up because this is the most amount of freshmen to attend in the history of the club.

We also watched two episodes of Fairy Tail; that's a really good anime for all ages.

Recently I started watching an anime call Clannad.  Though it's kinda like a soap opera, it's pretty dang hilarious and more interesting than your regular soap opera.

I can't wait to get the 30th Guyver volume.  I need some good reading material during my break time between classes, and I have part of my Cirque Du Freak manga loaned out to a classmate currently.  Just wished that my paycheck didn't have to go toward buying 50 pounds worth of ceramics clay and the art club trip to Chicago this coming January.

I'm a happy camper today!

First, I got to put together my lovely Li Yentsui figure I got from eBay recently, and then I finally became an official Art Major with a possible Minor in Computer Science (if I can afford to go another year in this university)!  I'm going to be staying up this weekend getting reacquainted with my neglected Nintendo Wii :D

Finals week finally!  And with it, the long nights staying up studying at the last possible second.  So far I'm doing good; I breezed through my World Civilization final and answered some bonus questions too yesterday.  I'm glad I got my Christmas shopping done before this week, so I'm not having a huge mental breakdown like last year.

This month I've gotten 3 orders on my Etsy shop :D  Woohoo!  I've even finally learned how to crochet, so now I'm adding crocheted items to my inventory!

Currently drawing up blue prints to a "barrel cage" that will keep dogs and wildlife out of our trash...Getting sick and tired of picking up litter because we haven't had time to drop off the trash at the public dumpster and our trash barrels being too easy to open.

Just got back from Chicago with the university's art club!  We had a blast seeing museums (though my main focus was on the Japanese wood block prints, lol), looking through galleries of up and coming artists, and taking pictures of Cloud Gate.  I ended up ordering the first volume of Guyver at the Japanese book store up there during our free day yesterday; getting to and from there was quite the adventure since we had to take the train and bus to get to our destination.  Anyhow, I ended up getting five new books; four manga, and one sci-fi novel; among the manga I got was Attack on Titan, which is a very good story and would recommend it to fans of Full Metal Alchemist.

Got my hands on The Prince of Egypt by DreamWorks.  My Lord...I forgot this movie until recently; I haven't seen it since my Sunday School days (God knows how many years that has been).  Lovely, fantastic, and will give anyone goose bumps, I love the retelling of the first half of the story of Mosses.  DreamWorks did take artist and historical licensing in this movie, but in a good way considering that their target audience was kids and family.

I would recommend seeing this movie, if not at least view a small clip of it somewhere.

I have noticed that today's so called "smart" technology is rather retarded in a sense.

Example: I saved my copies of the Guyver scanlations onto a card that I plug in to my tablet so I can read the manga whenever and wherever.  However, by some force's wicked sense of humor, all the pages are out of order except for volume 30 & 31.  Even my nerd friends are baffled by this conundrum.

Posted

that's pretty weird.

the only answer I could give is that the device is displaying the files in the order which they were edited. some pages are put through an additional process to correct some errors so this would upset the ordering if they were ordered by date and time.

Posted

If that's the case, then I'll need to go into those files and make it appear that I modified something to get the scans in order.  *sigh* When I get my computer science degree, I'm going to make a tablet that is smart.

P.S. I realized recently that I seem to have an unhealthy obsession with plush dolls...I have so many it almost makes my room look like a little girl's room.

hey, maybe you can do this easily?

if you have photoshop, then use batch edit.

that would probably work. just tell it to do a simple action such as...

well on the actions palette, make a new action. open a test picture to make teh action. record a new action. convert to cmyk then convert to rgb. and stop it recording. if you then go into automate?batch and choose your action. then select teh folder that your images are in, you can get photoshop to open them all in numerical order, do that useless action that doesn't actually change anything, then save and close.

that will probably fix the issue. I hope :)
