April 9, 201114 yr Author Went to Concert Conteset today. We, the band, made on stage: 2 2 1; and in sight reading: 1. Translation for numbers: 1st division=best rank to get and made very little mistakes; 2nd=okay rank and made several mistakes; 3rd=poor rank and messed up a lot of things in the music. We got some good ratings for a 2nd high school band in our state.
April 13, 201114 yr Author Just got back from a college tour. I also got done applying to the college, just have to send in some transcripts and I'll know if I get to go or not. I know what major I'm going to do (Graphic Design Art). Now I can't wait to get the hell out of high school.
April 22, 201114 yr Author I'll be a college student this fall! I just got accepted at the college I took a tour at! WOOHOOO!!!
May 5, 201114 yr Author Sorry for my absensce. A tornado hit my home town last week. It's bad. Really bad. An entire subdivision gone and four people dead sort of bad. What once was a pretty small town is now a dissaster. At first I didn't recognize my town while driving back to school Monday. The Tsunami relief jar in Band class is now the Tornado relief jar.
May 6, 201114 yr damn, that sucks. to understate it. glad you're ok, but that must be very difficult to have that happen to your home town. glad to hear you got into your chosen college though.
May 6, 201114 yr Author The town's getting back on it's feet slowly but surely. Even our rival town is helping out. Yeah, it was hard to go through town and see what was beautiful now ruined or damaged. I'm use to seeing a lot of trees while going through town and it was a shock to see most of them ruined beyond repair.
May 8, 201114 yr Author Finally, a good weekend. No clouds, no rain, just sunny and warm. To start it off, Friday morning was Senior Breakfast (for seniors) and I was told I am recieving an Acedemic Award in Greenhouse Managment. Today was defuzz the house day, meaning me and dad did some serious spring cleaning. Also there was the Band Banquet for the high school band. All seniors got a Senior Band Award for sticking with band througout their high school years. There were also some national award given, and musicians that competed in competitions were also recognized. We even had a slide show this year at the end of the banquet. All in all it finally looks like a good, sunny weekend.
May 8, 201114 yr that's nice, It's funny how different we interpret good weather. it has been very dry in the uk so I would really welcome some rain. we have had a bit but i'd love a lot more.
May 12, 201114 yr Author Finally got around to watching the old 80's version of the Guyver anime. Personally I like the newer 2005 version better because you can tell that in the 2005 version that Takaya-sensie was there to influence it. In the 80's version...well, it kinda looked like a fanfic to me...The story wasn't following Takaya's style if you understand what I mean. It just didn't feel right is what I think I'm trying to say about the story line. Also, what in the hell happened to the animation after Murakami arrived. It was good before he showed up, but the quality just dropped after he makes his first appearance. Did they switch animation directors or something?
May 12, 201114 yr you're talking about two separate series'. they are put together for a 12 part series outside japan. and calling it a fanfic?? how could you? this was the first taste of guyver for many of us here. they just changed the story round a little bit to make the pacing better for what was originally supposed to be only six parts. many fans consider this the pinnacle of guyver, the pacing the music, the atmosphere, it just embodies what guyver is to us. if this series never existed, this website might never exist. it's what made me a huge fan of guyver and why i came to the manga and why i started this site and the guyver advocacy group. just take it as a self contained thing.. kinda like a movie, and you might see it differently
May 12, 201114 yr Author I'm sorry Ryuki. I should have been clearer. I meant that in most animes you see that there are elements of the creator's story telling style in it. I meant that the 80's Guyver didn't appear to have Takaya's story telling style in most places. I was just a little dissapointed with the storyline and the inconsistancy of the animation. It's still a good anime. I didn't mean to insult you or any other Guyver fans out there.
May 12, 201114 yr don't worry you didn't insult anybody. you're welcome to feel however you like about it. i just think that you may have misunderstood it. the story telling style... well it was made in 1992 so think about the manga and where it had gotten up to at that time. takaya sensei's style has improved a great deal in 25 years. if you can imagine what the whole of guyver would feel like without the more recent volumes existing... the cumulation of the story that existed up until that time is actually of a very different quality to what we know now. the early volumes of the manga had little character development and a lot of posturing. think about guyot in the first volume of the manga. he is a very different character than the guyot we know now. the 2005 series does seem to fit with the style of the manga as it is now. but if i were to compare it to the earlier volumes of the manga alone, it doesn't seem to fit at all. i'm not sure if this is an easy thing to consider... I remember reading guyver manga back then, i had the whole viz set and i remember what it was like when the whole of guyver as i knew it didn't surpass volume 8. I remember how i felt about the manga then, and it was a very different feeling to how i feel about it now. edit: I'm aware that guyver advocacy hasn't done these earlier volumes so I can probably understand if you don't have any way to read those earlier volumes.
May 12, 201114 yr Author I'm aware that guyver advocacy hasn't done these earlier volumes so I can probably understand if you don't have any way to read those earlier volumes. Yeah, I have no way to read the first few volumes without ordering them off of eBay. I've got volumes 6 and 10, but that's not very helpful getting an idea of what his earlier style was like. I can see improvement in the more recent chapters for sure however. The earlier anime was done in 92
May 12, 201114 yr Author I was browsing through YouTube and I came upon this in my Favorites list. Beautifully played. I haven't heard this song in a long time.
May 13, 201114 yr yeah i'm pretty sure it was 1991-92 somewhere round there. it was released in the uk as a 12 part series in around 1994. why not go into the advocacy area and bug durendal and erutanxiku to get a move on. they got up to around chapter 3 so far i think.
May 13, 201114 yr Author That's kinda weird in a way. I was born in 92, same year that my favorite Disney movie was released in theaters. Hmm... I might actually do that, Ryuki.
May 13, 201114 yr Author I just got a scholarship in from the university I'm going to! Hell yeah! Now I've got two scholarships to help pay for tuition and housing!
May 14, 201114 yr Author Thanks Ryuki! New blog post I was browsing through YouTube again today, this time searching for video clips on one of my favorite comedians named Gabriel Iglesias. I've been needing a few laughs for a while now, and I found this clip that I know any parent would do to their kid. Edit: My Guyver fanfic on fanfiction.net is now up to date. http://www.fanfiction.net/s/6804970/1/Heiress_of_Alkanphel Please, if anyone has an account there, please please please write a review on it. May 16, 201114 yr Author Well, I'm starting to learn how to play an auto-harp. An auto-harp has buttons that'll play chords when the strings are strummed. There was only one at the music store and I was there to look at fiddles originally. Then Dad pointed out the harp and offered to buy that as a graduation present or the fiddle. I nearly said the SOB phrase in the store and I picked the auto-harp and the store owner set me up with everything I needed to get started (picks, book, and tuning wrench).
May 19, 201114 yr Author Went to see my best friend yesterday. I had a good time, we spent some girl time together (even thought we had to get essentials from the grociery store that same day). She drove and I rode shotgun, and when we were about to leave the parkinglot she had to run back in to get some more stuff. When she came back she tried to drive the vehicle out of the parkinglot, assuming it was on since the radio was on too. Nikki: *opens door to get out* Me: Nikki. Nikki: What? Me: *reaches over and turns the key to ignition* Nikki: Shut up...
