I've been translating the titles of these from japanese to english.

so we have the official english title printed in english on the books, and surprisingly, the japanese titles are quite different in some cases.

i would appreciate a quality check of this if anyone can do this for me please. most notably book 20 which i really struggled with the grammar.

Are you avoiding the American Viz versions of the titles 9of the few released ones)? I figured it be easier to use them, then start off with the later ones.

I can look at some of the grammar, but I'm not sure if i should really fix some of it.

it's the translations really. grammar is not a problem for me. especially since if you change the grammar, you change the meaning.

so i really need it checked by somebody with similar experience as myself. there are a few people on here with good japanese knowledge.

of course, this is regarding the titles of the books.

if you want to fix grammar elsewhere that's all good.

about the viz titles. they are on there.

for the viz books that are available, we have included titles.

I see, somehow I remember Viz releasing more. Silly me. As for the grammar, I meant that some of it sounds a bit strange. But like I said I was reluctant to change any because it may distract from the meaning.

Also I know that the occasional Japanese translation when used sounds weird because of the lack of plurals. So titles like "STRONG OPPONENT!! THE TWO LOST NUMBERS" makes me want to add a S to "OPPONENT" because "STRONG OPPONENTS!! THE TWO LOST NUMBERS" sounds more correct to me. But meh. That's just me.

Everything else, on this topic I can't help with because I suck at Japanese and can't even read it.

i see your point with the plurals, i'm not sure if it is true or not.

i mean, in my view, 'opponent' can be plural as is. if it is a team, and acting concurrently, then i view it as an opponent. only when they act separately and not really a team ,then i think of as two separate opponents. maybe it was just a bad example, but i did try to make teh english more accecptible while also retaining the initial meaning as closely as possible,

for example, I changed "strongly increase armour" to bio-booster armour, i changed "giant beast" to "draglord" and "star rescue master" to "saviour lords", "super king" to "high king" and "war female god" to valkyria.

edit,

I just realised you were referring to the chapter titles at that point.

I did not translate those.

i think those are more vigorously translated. which is all good, as from what i can see, it retains the original meaning and yet looks good in english. i think with those, the grammar can be refined and it should not be a problem.

Have to admit, it's the best trade off we can get. But the title was just an example. The Summary's are going to be such a challenge to all contributors.

Well, I'll review the contributions later and see if anything should be changed. I'll make sure to add a note as well just in case we should revise and reverse it.

Oh and thanks for your time in explaining Ryuki.

Actually, the volume titles are somewhat skewed from the original Japanese text. I didn't translate some of those since the english titles are already printed.

Let me start with volume 22 then

22 - Bare Face of the Masked Divine Lord

23 - Inherited Spirit

24 - Roaring Giant Beast God

25 - Daybreaks' Conclusion

26 - War Goddess, comes to Japan

27 - Opening Curtains of the Banquet

but i already translated those.....

i was asking for opinion mostly on my translation of vol 20 title.

or did you see that i already did them and you are just confirming?
